Titushoz 2
1 Te pedig azokat szóljad, a mik az egészséges tudományhoz illenek.
But speak thou the things that become sound doctrine:
2 Hogy a vén emberek józanok legyenek, tisztességesek, mértékletesek; a hitben, szeretetben, tűrésben épek.
That the aged men be sober, chaste, prudent, sound in faith, in love, in patience.
3 Hasonlóképen a vén asszonyok szentekhez illő magaviseletűek legyenek, nem patvarkodók, sem sok borivás rabjai, jóra oktatók;
The aged women, in like manner, in holy attire, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teaching well:
4 Hogy megokosítsák az ifjú asszonyokat, hogy férjöket és magzataikat szeressék,
That they may teach the young women to be wise, to love their husbands, to love their children,
5 Legyenek mértékletesek, tiszták, háziasak, jók, férjöknek engedelmesek, hogy az Isten beszéde ne káromoltassék.
To be discreet, chaste, sober, having a care of the house, gentle, obedient to their husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.
6 Az ifjakat hasonlóképen intsed, hogy legyenek mértékletesek:
Young men, in like manner, exhort that they be sober.
7 Mindenben tenmagadat adván példaképül a jó cselekedetekben; a tudományban romlatlanságot, méltóságot mutatván,
In all things shew thyself an example of good works, in doctrine, in integrity, in gravity,
8 Egészséges, feddhetetlen beszédet; hogy az ellenfél megszégyenüljön, semmi gonoszt sem tudván rólatok mondani.
The sound word that can not be blamed: that he, who is on the contrary part, may be afraid, having no evil to say of us.
9 A szolgákat intsed, hogy az ő uraiknak engedelmeskedjenek, mindenben kedvöket keressék, ne ellenkezzenek,
Exhort servants to be obedient to their masters, in all things pleasing, not gainsaying:
10 Ne tolvajkodjanak, hanem teljes jó hűséget tanusítsanak; hogy a mi megtartó Istenünknek tudományát ékesítsék mindenben.
Not defrauding, but in all things shewing good fidelity, that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things:
11 Mert megjelent az Isten idvezítő kegyelme minden embernek,
For the grace of God our Saviour hath appeared to all men;
12 A mely arra tanít minket, hogy megtagadván a hitetlenséget és a világi kivánságokat, mértékletesen, igazán és szentül éljünk a jelenvaló világon: (aiōn g165)
Instructing us, that, denying ungodliness and worldly desires, we should live soberly, and justly, and godly in this world, (aiōn g165)
13 Várván ama boldog reménységet és a nagy Istennek és megtartó Jézus Krisztusunknak dicsősége megjelenését;
Looking for the blessed hope and coming of the glory of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ,
14 A ki önmagát adta mi érettünk, hogy megváltson minket minden hamisságtól, és tisztítson önmagának kiváltképen való népet, jó cselekedetekre igyekezőt.
Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and might cleanse to himself a people acceptable, a pursuer of good works.
15 Ezeket szóljad, és ints és feddj teljes méltósággal; senki téged meg ne vessen.
These things speak, and exhort and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee.
