1 Az éneklőmesternek, a gittithre. Aszáfé. Örvendezzetek Istennek, a mi erősségünknek; ujjongjatok a Jákób Istenének!
“To the chief musician upon Gittith; by Assaph.” Sing aloud unto God our strength: shout joyfully unto the God of Jacob.
2 Dalt zengjetek és dobot pergessetek, gyönyörű hárfát cziterával együtt.
Lift up psalm, and bring hither the timbrel, the pleasant harp with the psaltery.
3 Fújjatok kürtöt új holdra, holdtöltekor, a mi ünnepünk napján;
Blow on the new moon the cornet, at the time appointed, on the day of our feast.
4 Mert végzett dolog ez Izráelnél, a Jákób Istenének rendelése.
For this is a statute for Israel, an ordinance by the God of Jacob.
5 Bizonyságul tette ő a József nemzetségében, a mikor kijött Égyiptom földe ellen. Nyelvet hallék ott, a mit nem tudtam.
As a testimony in Joseph did he ordain it, when he went out over the land of Egypt. The language of one I had not known did I hear.
6 Megszabadítottam a tehertől az ő vállát, kezei megmenekültek a kosártól.
I removed from the burden his shoulder: his hands left behind the burden-basket.
7 A nyomorúságban segítségül hívtál és én megszabadítottalak téged; meghallgattalak téged a mennydörgésnek rejtekében; megpróbáltalak téged a versengések vizénél. (Szela)
In distress thou didst call, and I delivered thee; I answered thee in the secret of the thunder: I proved thee at the waters of Meribah. (Selah)
8 Hallgass én népem, hadd tegyek bizonyságot ellened! Oh Izráel, ha te meghallgatnál engem!
Hear, O my people, and I will give warning unto thee; O Israel, if thou wouldst but hearken unto me!
9 Ne legyen te nálad idegen isten, és az idegen isten előtt meg ne hajolj!
There shall not be among thee a foreign God; nor shalt thou bow thyself down to any strange God.
10 Én, az Úr vagyok a te Istened, a ki kihoztalak téged Égyiptom földéről: nyisd szét a te szájad és betöltöm azt.
I am the Lord thy God, who have brought thee up out of the land of Egypt: open wide thy mouth, and I will fill it.
11 De nem hallgatott népem az én szómra, és Izráel nem engedelmeskedett nékem.
But my people did not hearken to my voice; and Israel was not willing [to follow] me.
12 Ott hagytam azért őt szívöknek keménységében, hogy járjanak a magok tanácsa szerint.
So I let them go in the stubbornness of their own hearts: and they walked in their own counsels.
13 Oh, ha az én népem hallgatna reám, s Izráel az én utaimon járna!
Oh that my people would hearken unto me, that Israel would walk in my ways!
14 Legott megaláznám ellenségeit, s szorongatói ellen fordítanám kezem.
In a little while would I subdue their enemies, and against their adversaries would I turn my hand.
15 Az Úrnak gyűlölői hízelegnének néki, és örökkévaló volna az ő idejök.
The haters of the Lord should offer flattery unto him; but their time should endure for ever.
16 És ő megelégítené őt java búzával, és sziklából folyó mézzel töltenélek be téged!
And he would feed him with the best of wheat: and out of the rock would I satisfy thee with honey.
