Zsoltárok 60
1 Az éneklőmesternek a susanheduthra, Dávidnak tanító miktámja; Mikor harczolt a mesopotámiai szirusokkal és a czóbai szirusokkal; és visszafordult Joáb és megverte az Edomitákat a Sóvölgyben, tizenkétezeret. Isten, elvetettél minket, elszélesztettél minket; megharagudtál, hozz vissza minket!
“To the chief musician upon Shushan'eduth, a Michtham of David, to teach, When he fought with Aram-naharayim, and with Aram-zobah, and Joab returned, and smote of Edom in the Salt Valley twelve thousand [men].” O God, thou hast cast us off, thou hast made a breach in us, thou hast been displeased: restore now unto us [thy favor].
2 Megrendítetted ez országot, ketté szakasztottad; építsd meg romlásait, mert megindult.
Thou hast caused the earth to quake; thou hast split it: heal her breaches; for she is moved.
3 A te népeddel nehéz dolgokat láttattál: bódító borral itattál minket.
Thou hast caused thy people to see hard things: thou hast made us to drink the wine of confusion.
4 Adtál a téged félőknek zászlót, melyet felemeljenek az igazságért. (Szela)
Thou hast given to those that fear thee a banner, to elevate themselves, because of the truth. (Selah)
5 Hogy megszabaduljanak a te kedveltjeid: segíts jobboddal és hallgass meg minket!
In order that thy beloved may be delivered: help with thy right hand, and answer me.
6 Az ő szent helyén mondotta Isten: Örvendezek, kiosztom Sikemet és kimérem a Szukkót völgyét:
God hath spoken in his holiness: I will exult, I will divide Shechem, and the valley of Succoth will I measure out.
7 Enyim Gileád és enyim Manasse, Efraim az én fejemnek oltalma: Júda az én törvény-rendelőm.
Mine is Gil'ad, and mine is Menasseh; Ephraim also is the strong-hold of my head; of Judah are my chiefs;
8 Moáb az én mosdómedenczém, Edomra vetem az én sarumat; te Filisztea nékem örülj!
Moab is my washpot; upon Edom will I cast my shoe: Philistia, triumph thou but over me.
9 Kicsoda vezet engem az erős városba? Kicsoda kisért el Edomig engem?
Who will bring me into the fortified city? who will lead me as far as Edom?
10 Nem te-é, oh Isten, a ki megvetettél minket, s nem vonultál ki, oh Isten, a mi seregeinkkel?
Behold, it is thou, O God, who hast cast us off; and thou, O God, goest not forth with our armies.
11 Segíts ki minket a nyomorúságból, mert emberi segítség hiábavaló.
Give us help against the assailant; for vain is the help of man.
12 Istennel győzedelmet nyerünk, s ő tapodja el ellenségeinket.
Through God shall we do valiantly: and he it is that will tread down our assailants.
