Máté 22
1 És megszólalván Jézus, ismét példázatokban beszél vala nékik, mondván:
Again Jesus spoke to them in figurative language.
2 Hasonlatos a mennyeknek országa a királyhoz, a ki az ő fiának menyegzőt szerze.
"The Kingdom of the Heavens," He said, "may be compared to a king who celebrated the marriage of his son,
3 És elküldé szolgáit, hogy meghívják azokat, a kik a menyegzőre hivatalosak valának; de nem akarnak vala eljőni.
and sent his servants to call the invited guests to the wedding, but they were unwilling to come.
4 Ismét külde más szolgákat, mondván: Mondjátok meg a hivatalosoknak: Ímé, ebédemet elkészítettem, tulkaim és hízlalt állataim levágva vannak, és kész minden; jertek el a menyegzőre.
"Again he sent other servants with a message to those who were invited. "'My breakfast is now ready," he said, 'my bullocks and fat cattle are killed, and every preparation is made: come to the wedding.'
5 De azok nem törődvén vele, elmenének, az egyik a maga szántóföldjére, a másik a maga kereskedésébe;
"They however gave no heed, but went, one to his home in the country, another to his business;
6 A többiek pedig megfogván az ő szolgáit, bántalmazák és megölék őket.
and the rest seized the king's servants, maltreated them, and murdered them.
7 Meghallván pedig ezt a király, megharaguvék, és elküldvén hadait, azokat a gyilkosokat elveszté, és azoknak városait fölégeté.
So the king's anger was stirred, and he sent his troops and destroyed those murderers and burnt their city.
8 Akkor monda az ő szolgáinak: A menyegző ugyan készen van, de a hivatalosok nem valának méltók.
Then he said to his servants, "'The wedding banquet is ready, but those who were invited were unworthy of it.
9 Menjetek azért a keresztútakra, és a kiket csak találtok, hívjátok be a menyegzőbe.
Go out therefore to the crossroads, and everybody you meet invite to the wedding.'
10 És kimenvén azok a szolgák az útakra, begyűjték mind a kiket csak találtak vala, jókat és gonoszokat egyaránt. És megtelék a menyegző vendégekkel.
"So they went out into the roads and gathered together all they could find, both bad and good, and the banqueting hall was filled with guests.
11 Bemenvén pedig a király, hogy megtekintse a vendégeket, láta ott egy embert, a kinek nem vala menyegzői ruhája.
"Now the king came in to see the guests; and among them he discovered one who was not wearing a wedding-robe.
12 És monda néki: Barátom, mi módon jöttél ide, holott nincsen menyegzői ruhád? Az pedig hallgata.
"'My friend,' he said, 'how is it that you came in here without a wedding robe?'
13 Akkor monda a király a szolgáknak: Kötözzétek meg a lábait és kezeit, és vigyétek és vessétek őt a külső sötétségre; ott lészen sírás és fogcsikorgatás.
"The man stood speechless. Then the king said to the servants, "'Bind him hand and foot and fling him into the darkness outside: there will be the weeping aloud and the gnashing of teeth.'
14 Mert sokan vannak a hivatalosok, de kevesen a választottak.
"For there are many called, but few chosen."
15 Ekkor a farizeusok elmenvén, tanácsot tartának, hogy szóval ejtsék őt tőrbe.
Then the Pharisees went and consulted together how they might entrap Him in His conversation.
16 És elküldék hozzá tanítványaikat a Heródes pártiakkal, a kik ezt mondják vala: Mester, tudjuk, hogy igaz vagy és az Isten útját igazán tanítod, és nem törődöl senkivel, mert embereknek személyére nem nézel.
So they sent to Him their disciples together with the Herodians; who said, "Teacher, we know that you are truthful and that you faithfully teach God's truth; and that no fear of man misleads you, for you are not biased by men's wealth or rank.
17 Mondd meg azért nékünk, mit gondolsz: Szabad-é a császárnak adót fizetnünk, vagy nem?
Give us your judgement therefore: is it allowable for us to pay a poll-tax to Caesar, or not?"
18 Jézus pedig ismervén az ő álnokságukat, monda: Mit kisértgettek engem, képmutatók?
Perceiving their wickedness, Jesus replied, "Why are you hypocrites trying to ensnare me?
19 Mutassátok nékem az adópénzt. Azok pedig oda vivének néki egy dénárt.
Show me the tribute coin." And they brought Him a shilling.
20 És monda nékik: Kié ez a kép, és a felírás?
"Whose likeness and inscription," He asked, "is this?"
21 Mondának néki: A császáré. Akkor monda nékik: Adjátok meg azért a mi a császáré a császárnak; és a mi az Istené, az Istennek.
"Caesar's," they replied. "Pay therefore," He rejoined, "what is Caesar's to Caesar; and what is God's to God."
22 És ezt hallván, elcsodálkozának; és ott hagyván őt, elmenének.
They heard this, and were astonished; then left Him, and went their way.
23 Ugyanazon a napon menének hozzá a sadduczeusok, a kik a feltámadást tagadják, és megkérdezék őt,
On the same day a party of Sadducees came to Him, contending that there is no resurrection. And they put this case to Him.
24 Mondván: Mester, Mózes azt mondotta: Ha valaki magzatok nélkül hal meg, annak testvére vegye el annak feleségét, és támaszszon magot testvérének.
"Teacher," they said, "Moses enjoined, 'If a man die childless, his brother shall marry his widow, and raise up a family for him.'
25 Vala pedig minálunk hét testvér: és az első feleséget vevén, meghala; és mivelhogy nem vala magzata, feleségét a testvérére hagyá;
Now we had among us seven brothers. The eldest of them married, but died childless, leaving his wife to his brother.
26 Hasonlóképen a második is, a harmadik is, mind hetediglen.
So also did the second and the third, down to the seventh,
27 Legutoljára pedig az asszony is meghala.
till the woman also died, after surviving them all.
28 A feltámadáskor azért a hét közül melyiké lesz az asszony? Mert mindeniké vala.
At the Resurrection, therefore, whose wife of the seven will she be? for they all married her."
29 Jézus pedig felelvén, monda nékik: Tévelyegtek, mivelhogy nem ismeritek sem az írásokat, sem az Istennek hatalmát.
The reply of Jesus was, "You are in error, through ignorance of the Scriptures and of the power of God.
30 Mert a feltámadáskor sem nem házasodnak, sem férjhez nem mennek, hanem olyanok lesznek, mint az Isten angyalai a mennyben.
For in the Resurrection, men neither marry nor are women given in marriage, but they are like angels in Heaven.
31 A halottak feltámadása felől pedig nem olvastátok-é, a mit az Isten mondott néktek, így szólván:
But as to the Resurrection of the dead, have you never read what God says to you,
32 Én vagyok az Ábrahám Istene, és az Izsák Istene, és a Jákób Istene; az Isten nem holtaknak, hanem élőknek Istene.
'I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob'? He is not the God of dead, but of living men."
33 És a sokaság ezt hallván, csodálkozék az ő tudományán.
All the crowd heard this, and were filled with amazement at His teaching.
34 A farizeusok pedig, hallván, hogy a sadduczeusokat elnémította vala, egybegyűlének;
Now the Pharisees came up when they heard that He had silenced the Sadducees,
35 És megkérdé őt közülök egy törvénytudó, kisértvén őt, és mondván:
and one of them, an expounder of the Law, asked Him as a test question,
36 Mester, melyik a nagy parancsolat a törvényben?
"Teacher, which is the greatest Commandment in the Law?"
37 Jézus pedig monda néki: Szeresd az Urat, a te Istenedet teljes szívedből, teljes lelkedből és teljes elmédből.
"'Thou shalt love the Lord thy God,'" He answered, "'with thy whole heart, thy whole soul, thy whole mind.'
38 Ez az első és nagy parancsolat.
This is the greatest and foremost Commandment.
39 A második pedig hasonlatos ehhez: Szeresd felebarátodat, mint magadat.
And the second is similar to it: 'Thou shalt love thy fellow man as much as thyself.'
40 E két parancsolattól függ az egész törvény és a próféták.
The whole of the Law and the Prophets is summed up in these two Commandments."
41 Mikor pedig a farizeusok összegyülekezének, kérdezé őket Jézus,
While the Pharisees were still assembled there, Jesus put a question to them.
42 Mondván: Miképen vélekedtek ti a Krisztus felől? kinek a fia? Mondának néki: A Dávidé.
"What think you about the Christ," He said, "whose son is He?" "David's," they replied.
43 Monda nékik: Miképen hívja tehát őt Dávid lélekben Urának, ezt mondván:
"How then," He asked, "does David, taught by the Spirit, call Him Lord, when he says,
44 Monda az Úr az én Uramnak: Ülj az én jobb kezem felől, míglen vetem a te ellenségeidet a te lábaid alá zsámolyul.
"'The Lord said to my Lord, sit at My right hand until I have put thy foes beneath thy feet'?
45 Ha tehát Dávid Urának hívja őt, mi módon fia?
"If therefore David calls Him Lord, how can He be his son?"
46 És senki egy szót sem felelhet vala néki; sem pedig nem meri vala őt e naptól fogva többé senki megkérdezni.
No one could say a word in reply, nor from that day did any one venture again to put a question to Him.
