Máté 14
1 Abban az időben hírét hallá Heródes negyedes fejedelem Jézusnak,
At that season Herod the tetrarch heard the report concerning Jesus,
2 És monda szolgáinak: Ez ama Keresztelő János; ő támadt fel a halálból, és azért működnek benne az erők.
and said unto his servants, This is John the Baptist; he is risen from the dead; and therefore do these powers work in him.
3 Mert Heródes elfogatta vala Jánost, és megkötöztetvén, tömlöczbe vetette vala Heródiásért, az ő testvérének, Fülöpnek feleségéért.
For Herod had laid hold on John, and bound him, and put him in prison for the sake of Herodias, his brother Philip’s wife.
4 Mert ezt mondja vala néki János: Nem szabad néked ővele élned.
For John said unto him, It is not lawful for thee to have her.
5 De mikor meg akarta öletni, félt a sokaságtól, mert mint egy prófétát úgy tartják vala őt.
And when he would have put him to death, he feared the multitude, because they counted him as a prophet.
6 Hanem mikor a Heródes születése napját ünnepelék, tánczola a Heródiás leánya ő előttük, és megtetszék Heródesnek;
But when Herod’s birthday came, the daughter of Herodias danced in the midst, and pleased Herod.
7 Azért esküvéssel fogadá, hogy a mit kér, megadja néki.
Whereupon he promised with an oath to give her whatsoever she should ask.
8 A leány pedig, anyja rábeszélésére, monda: Add ide nékem egy tálban a Keresztelő János fejét.
And she, being put forward by her mother, saith, Give me here on a platter the head of John the Baptist.
9 És megszomorodék a király, de esküjéért és a vendégek miatt parancsolá, hogy adják oda.
And the king was grieved; but for the sake of his oaths, and of them that sat at meat with him, he commanded it to be given;
10 És elküldvén, fejét véteté Jánosnak a tömlöczben.
and he sent and beheaded John in the prison.
11 És előhozák az ő fejét egy tálban, és adák a leánynak; az pedig vivé az ő anyjának.
And his head was brought on a platter, and given to the damsel: and she brought it to her mother.
12 És előjövén az ő tanítványai, elvivék a testet, és eltemeték azt; és elmenvén, megjelenték Jézusnak.
And his disciples came, and took up the corpse, and buried him; and they went and told Jesus.
13 És mikor ezt meghallotta Jézus, elméne onnét hajón egy puszta helyre egyedül. A sokaság pedig ezt hallva, gyalog követé őt a városokból.
Now when Jesus heard [it], he withdrew from thence in a boat, to a desert place apart: and when the multitudes heard [thereof], they followed him on foot from the cities.
14 És kimenvén Jézus, láta nagy sokaságot, és megszáná őket, és azoknak betegeit meggyógyítá.
And he came forth, and saw a great multitude, and he had compassion on them, and healed their sick.
15 Mikor pedig estveledék, hozzá menének az ő tanítványai, mondván: Puszta hely ez, és az idő már elmúlt; bocsásd el a sokaságot, hogy menjenek el a falvakba és vegyenek magoknak eleséget.
And when even was come, the disciples came to him, saying, The place is desert, and the time is already past; send the multitudes away, that they may go into the villages, and buy themselves food.
16 Jézus pedig monda nékik: Nem szükség elmenniök; adjatok nékik ti enniök.
But Jesus said unto them, They have no need to go away; give ye them to eat.
17 Azok pedig mondának néki: Nincsen itt, csupán öt kenyerünk és két halunk.
And they say unto him, We have here but five loaves, and two fishes.
18 Ő pedig monda: Hozzátok azokat ide hozzám.
And he said, Bring them hither to me.
19 És mikor megparancsolá a sokaságnak, hogy üljenek le a fűre, vevé az öt kenyeret és két halat, és szemeit az égre emelvén, hálákat ada; és megszegvén a kenyereket, adá a tanítványoknak, a tanítványok pedig a sokaságnak.
And he commanded the multitudes to sit down on the grass; and he took the five loaves, and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed, and brake and gave the loaves to the disciples, and the disciples to the multitudes.
20 És mindnyájan evének, és megelégedének; és felszedék a maradék darabokat, tizenkét teli kosárral.
And they all ate, and were filled: and they took up that which remained over of the broken pieces, twelve baskets full.
21 A kik pedig ettek vala, mintegy ötezeren valának férfiak, asszonyokon és gyermekeken kívül.
And they that did eat were about five thousand men, besides women and children.
22 És mindjárt kényszeríté Jézus az ő tanítványait, hogy szálljanak a hajóba és menjenek át előre a túlsó partra, míg ő elbocsátja a sokaságot.
And straightway he constrained the disciples to enter into the boat, and to go before him unto the other side, till he should send the multitudes away.
23 És a mint elbocsátá a sokaságot, felméne a hegyre, magánosan imádkozni. Mikor pedig beestveledék, egyedül vala ott.
And after he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into the mountain apart to pray: and when even was come, he was there alone.
24 A hajó pedig immár a tenger közepén vala, a haboktól háborgattatva; mivelhogy a szél szembe fújt vala.
But the boat was now in the midst of the sea, distressed by the waves; for the wind was contrary.
25 Az éjszaka negyedik részében pedig hozzájuk méne Jézus, a tengeren járván.
And in the fourth watch of the night he came unto them, walking upon the sea.
26 És mikor látták a tanítványok, hogy ő a tengeren jára, megrémülének, mondván: Ez kísértet; és a félelem miatt kiáltozának.
And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a ghost; and they cried out for fear.
27 De Jézus azonnal szóla hozzájuk, mondván: Bízzatok; én vagyok, ne féljetek!
But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid.
28 Péter pedig felelvén néki, monda: Uram, ha te vagy, parancsolj, hogy hozzád mehessek a vizeken.
And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee upon the waters.
29 Ő pedig monda: Jövel! És Péter kiszállván a hajóból, jár vala a vizeken, hogy Jézushoz menjen.
And he said, Come. And Peter went down from the boat, and walked upon the waters to come to Jesus.
30 De látva a nagy szelet, megrémüle; és a mikor kezd vala merülni, kiálta, mondván: Uram, tarts meg engem!
But when he saw the wind, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried out, saying, Lord, save me.
31 Jézus pedig azonnal kinyújtván kezét, megragadá őt, és monda néki: Kicsinyhitű, miért kételkedél?
And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and took hold of him, and saith unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?
32 És a mikor beléptek a hajóba, elállt a szél.
And when they were gone up into the boat, the wind ceased.
33 A hajóban levők pedig hozzámenvén, leborulának előtte, mondván: Bizony, Isten Fia vagy!
And they that were in the boat worshipped him, saying, Of a truth thou art the Son of God.
34 És általkelvén, eljutának Genezáret földére.
And when they had crossed over, they came to the land, unto Gennesaret.
35 És mikor megismerték őt annak a helynek lakosai, szétküldének abba az egész környékbe, és minden beteget hozzá hozának;
And when the men of that place knew him, they sent into all that region round about, and brought unto him all that were sick;
36 És kérik vala őt, hogy csak az ő ruhájának peremét illethessék. És a kik illeték vala, mindnyájan meggyógyulának.
and they besought him that they might only touch the border of his garment: and as many as touched were made whole.
