János 12
1 Jézus azért hat nappal a husvét előtt méne Bethániába, a hol a megholt Lázár vala, a kit feltámasztott a halálból.
JESUS then before the days of the passover came to Bethany, where the deceased Lazarus was, whom he had raised from the dead.
2 Vacsorát készítének azért ott néki, és Mártha szolgál vala fel; Lázár pedig egy vala azok közül, a kik együtt ülnek vala ő vele.
Therefore they made him a supper there; and Martha waited: but Lazarus was one of those who sat at table with him.
3 Mária azért elővévén egy font igazi, drága nárdusból való kenetet, megkené a Jézus lábait, és megtörlé annak lábait a saját hajával; a ház pedig megtelék a kenet illatával.
Then Mary taking a pound of unadulterated balm of nard, very valuable, anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped his feet with her hair: and the house was filled with the odour of the ointment.
4 Monda azért egy az ő tanítványai közül, Iskáriótes Júdás, Simonnak fia, a ki őt elárulandó vala:
Then said one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon, who was preparing to betray him,
5 Miért nem adták el ezt a kenetet háromszáz dénáron, és miért nem adták a szegényeknek?
Wherefore was not this aromatic ointment sold for three hundred denarii, and given to the poor?
6 Ezt pedig nem azért mondá, mintha néki a szegényekre volna gondja, hanem mivelhogy tolvaj vala, és nála vala az erszény, és amit abba tesznek vala, elcsené.
Now he said this, not that he cared for the poor; but because he was a thief, and kept the purse, and carried the money put therein.
7 Monda azért Jézus: Hagyj békét néki; az én temetésem idejére tartogatta ő ezt.
Then said Jesus, Let her alone: for the day of my burial hath she reserved this.
8 Mert szegények mindenkor vannak veletek, én pedig nem mindenkor vagyok.
For the poor ye have always with you; but me ye have not always.
9 A zsidók közül azért nagy sokaság értesült vala arról, hogy ő ott van: és oda menének nemcsak Jézusért, hanem hogy Lázárt is lássák, a kit feltámasztott a halálból.
Then the whole multitude of the Jews knew that he was there: and they came not for the sake of Jesus only, but also that they might see Lazarus, whom he had raised from the dead.
10 A papifejedelmek pedig tanácskozának, hogy Lázárt is megöljék;
Then the chief priests consulted how they might kill Lazarus also;
11 Mivelhogy a zsidók közül sokan ő miatta menének oda és hivének a Jézusban.
because on his account many of the Jews went away, and believed on Jesus.
12 Másnap a nagy sokaság, a mely az ünnepre jött vala, hallván, hogy Jézus Jeruzsálembe jő,
On the morrow a great multitude who came to the feast, when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem,
13 Pálmaágakat vőn, és kiméne elébe, és kiált vala: Hozsánna: Áldott, a ki jő az Úrnak nevében, az Izráelnek ama királya!
took branches of palm, and went out to meet him, and cried, Hosanna! blessed is the king of Israel, that cometh in the name of the Lord.
14 Találván pedig Jézus egy szamarat, felüle arra, a mint meg van írva:
Then Jesus, having found a young ass, sat upon it; as it is written,
15 Ne félj Sionnak leánya: Ímé a te királyod jő, szamárnak vemhén ülve.
“Fear not, daughter of Sion: behold, thy King cometh, sitting on the foal of an ass.”
16 Ezeket pedig nem értették eleinte az ő tanítványai: hanem mikor megdicsőítteték Jézus, akkor emlékezének vissza, hogy ezek ő felőle vannak megírva, és hogy ezeket mívelték ő vele.
These things indeed knew not his disciples at first: but when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that these things were written of him, and that they had done these things unto him.
17 A sokaság azért, a mely ő vele vala, mikor kihívta Lázárt a koporsóból és feltámasztotta őt a halálból, bizonyságot tőn.
Then the multitude that was with him, when he called Lazarus out of the tomb, and raised him from the dead, bore their testimony.
18 Azért is méne ő elébe a sokaság, mivel hallá, hogy ezt a csodát mívelte vala.
Therefore also the multitude met him, because they had heard that he had done this miracle.
19 Mondának azért a farizeusok egymás között: Látjátok-é, hogy semmit sem értek? Ímé, mind e világ ő utána megy.
Then said the Pharisees among themselves, Do ye not perceive that ye gain no advantage? behold, the world is gone after him.
20 Néhány görög is vala azok között, a kik felmenének, hogy imádkozzanak az ünnepen:
Now there were certain Greeks among those who went up to worship at the feast:
21 Ezek azért a galileai Bethsaidából való Filephez menének, és kérék őt, mondván: Uram, látni akarjuk a Jézust.
these then came to Philip, who was of Bethsaida, of Galilee, and they asked him, saying, Sir, we wish to see Jesus.
22 Megy vala Filep és szóla Andrásnak, és viszont András és Filep szóla Jézusnak.
Philip comes and speaks to Andrew: and again Andrew and Philip tell Jesus.
23 Jézus pedig felele nékik, mondván: Eljött az óra, hogy megdicsőíttessék az embernek Fia.
Then Jesus answered them, saying, The hour is come, that the Son of man should be glorified.
24 Bizony, bizony mondom néktek: Ha a földbe esett gabonamag el nem hal, csak egymaga marad; ha pedig elhal, sok gyümölcsöt terem.
Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a grain of wheat falling on the earth undergo a deathlike change, it abideth single: but if it thus die, it beareth abundant produce.
25 A ki szereti a maga életét, elveszti azt; és a ki gyűlöli a maga életét e világon, örök életre tartja meg azt. (aiōnios g166)
He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world, shall preserve it to life eternal. (aiōnios g166)
26 A ki nékem szolgál, engem kövessen; és a hol én vagyok, ott lesz az én szolgám is: és a ki nékem szolgál, megbecsüli azt az Atya.
If a man will be my servant, let him follow me; and where I am, there also shall my servant be: and if any man serve me, him will my Father honour.
27 Most az én lelkem háborog; és mit mondjak? Atyám, ments meg engem ettől az órától. De azért jutottam ez órára.
Now is my soul troubled; and what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour: but for this cause came I unto this hour.
28 Atyám, dicsőítsd meg a te nevedet! Szózat jöve azért az égből: Meg is dicsőítettem, és újra megdicsőítem.
Father, glorify thy name! Then came a voice from heaven, I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again.
29 A sokaság azért, a mely ott állt és hallotta vala, azt mondá, hogy mennydörgött; mások mondának: Angyal szólt néki.
The multitude that stood by, and heard it, said that it was thunder: others said, An angel hath spoken to him.
30 Felele Jézus és monda: Nem én érettem lőn e szó, hanem ti érettetek.
Jesus answered and said, This voice came not for my sake, but for your’s.
31 Most van e világ kárhoztatása; most vettetik ki e világ fejedelme:
Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the ruler of this world be ejected out of it.
32 És én, ha felemeltetem e földről, mindeneket magamhoz vonszok.
And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.
33 Ezt pedig azért mondá, hogy megjelentse, milyen halállal kell meghalnia.
And this he said, signifying by what death he should die.
34 Felele néki a sokaság: Mi azt hallottuk a törvényből, hogy a Krisztus örökké megmarad: hogyan mondod hát te, hogy az ember Fiának fel kell emeltetnie? Kicsoda ez az ember Fia? (aiōn g165)
Then the multitude answered him, We have heard out of the law, that the Messiah abideth for ever: and how sayest thou, That the Son of man must be lifted up? who is this Son of man? (aiōn g165)
35 Monda azért nékik Jézus: Még egy kevés ideig veletek van a világosság. Járjatok, a míg világosságotok van, hogy sötétség ne lepjen meg titeket: és a ki a sötétségben jár, nem tudja, hová megy.
Then said Jesus unto them, Yet a little while is the light with you. Walk while ye have the light, lest the darkness overtake you: he that walketh in darkness, knoweth not even whither he is going.
36 Míg a világosságotok megvan, higyjetek a világosságban, hogy a világosság fiai legyetek. Ezeket mondá Jézus, és elmenvén, elrejtőzködék előlük.
While ye have the light, believe in the light, that ye may be the children of the light. These things spake Jesus, and going away, concealed himself from them.
37 És noha ő ennyi jelt tett vala előttük, mégsem hivének ő benne:
Now, though he had done so many miracles before them, they believed not on him:
38 Hogy beteljesedjék az Ésaiás próféta beszéde, a melyet monda: Uram, ki hitt a mi tanításunknak? és az Úr karja kinek jelentetett meg?
that the saying of Isaiah the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spake, “Lord, who hath believed our report? and to whom hath the arm of the Lord been revealed?”
39 Azért nem hihetnek vala, mert ismét monda Ésaiás:
For this reason they could not believe, because Isaiah had said again;
40 Megvakította az ő szemeiket, és megkeményítette az ő szívöket; hogy szemeikkel ne lássanak és szívökkel ne értsenek, és meg ne térjenek, és meg ne gyógyítsam őket.
“He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their hearts; lest they should see with their eyes, and understand with the heart, and be converted, and I should heal them.”
41 Ezeket mondá Ésaiás, a mikor látá az ő dicsőségét; és beszéle ő felőle.
These things said Isaiah, when he saw his glory, and spake of him.
42 Mindazáltal a főemberek közül is sokan hivének ő benne: de a farizeusok miatt nem vallák be, hogy ki ne rekesztessenek a gyülekezetből:
However, notwithstanding, many even of the rulers believed on him; but on account of the Pharisees they did not make open profession, lest they should be put out of the synagogues:
43 Mert inkább szerették az emberek dicséretét, mintsem az Istennek dicséretét.
for they loved honour from men, more than honour from God.
44 Jézus pedig kiálta és monda: A ki hisz én bennem, nem én bennem hisz, hanem abban, a ki elküldött engem.
Then Jesus cried and said, He that believeth on me, believeth not on me, but on him that sent me.
45 És a ki engem lát, azt látja, a ki küldött engem.
And he that seeth me, seeth him that sent me.
46 Én világosságul jöttem e világra, hogy senki ne maradjon a sötétségben, a ki én bennem hisz.
I am come a light into the world, that every one who believeth on me should not abide in darkness.
47 És ha valaki hallja az én beszédeimet és nem hisz, én nem kárhoztatom azt: mert nem azért jöttem, hogy kárhoztassam a világot, hanem hogy megtartsam a világot.
And if any man, hearing my words, believeth not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.
48 A ki megvet engem és nem veszi be az én beszédeimet, van annak, a ki őt kárhoztassa: a beszéd, a melyet szólottam, az kárhoztatja azt az utolsó napon.
He that sets me at nought, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: even the word which I have spoken, the same shall judge him at the last day.
49 Mert én nem magamtól szóltam; hanem az Atya, a ki küldött engem, ő parancsolta nékem, hogy mit mondjak és mit beszéljek.
Because I have not spoken of myself; but the Farther who has sent me, he gave me commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak.
