Jób 35
1 Tovább is felele Elihu, és monda:
Moreover Elihu proceeded, and said:
2 Azt gondolod-é igaznak, ha így szólsz: Az én igazságom nagyobb, mint Istené?
Dost thou then think this to be right? Thou hast said, “I am more righteous than God.”
3 Hogyha ezt mondod: Mi hasznod belőle? Mivel várhatok többet, mintha vétkezném?
For thou askest, “What advantage have I? What have I gained, more than if I had sinned?”
4 Én megadom rá néked a feleletet, és barátaidnak te veled együtt.
I will answer thee, And thy companions with thee.
5 Tekints az égre és lásd meg; és nézd meg a fellegeket, milyen magasan vannak feletted!
Look up to the heavens, and see! And behold the clouds, which are high above thee!
6 Hogyha vétkezel, mit tehetsz ellene; ha megsokasítod bűneidet, mit ártasz néki?
If thou sinnest, what doest thou against Him? If thy transgressions be multiplied, what doest thou to him?
7 Ha igaz vagy, mit adsz néki, avagy mit kap a te kezedből?
If thou art righteous, what dost thou give him? Or what receiveth he at thy hand?
8 Az olyan embernek árt a te gonoszságod, mint te vagy, és igazságod az ilyen ember fiának használ.
Thy wickedness injureth only a man like thyself, And thy righteousness profiteth only a son of man.
9 A sok erőszak miatt kiáltoznak; jajgatnak a hatalmasok karja miatt;
The oppressed cry out on account of the multitude of wrongs; They cry aloud on account of the arm of the mighty.
10 De egy sem mondja: Hol van Isten, az én teremtőm, a ki hálaénekre indít éjszaka;
But none saith, “Where is God, my Maker, Who giveth songs in the night;
11 A ki többre tanít minket a mezei vadaknál, és bölcsebbekké tesz az ég madarainál?
Who teacheth us more than the beasts of the earth, And maketh us wiser than the birds of heaven?”
12 Akkor azután kiálthatnak, de ő nem felel a gonoszok kevélysége miatt;
There they cry aloud on account of the pride of the wicked; But he giveth no answer.
13 Mert a hiábavalóságot Isten meg nem hallgatja, a Mindenható arra nem tekint.
For God will not hear the vain supplication, Nor will the Almighty regard it;
14 Hátha még azt mondod: Te nem látod őt; az ügy előtte van és te reá vársz!
Much less when thou sayest thou canst not see him: Justice is with him, —only wait thou for him!
15 Most pedig, mivel nem büntet haragja, és nem figyelmez a nagy álnokságra:
But now, because he hath not visited in his anger, Nor taken strict note of transgression,
16 Azért tátja fel Jób hívságra a száját, és szaporítja a szót értelem nélkül.
Therefore hath Job opened his mouth rashly, And multiplied words without knowledge.
