Jób 12
1 Felele erre Jób, és monda:
Then Job answered and said:
2 Bizonyára ti magatok vagytok a nép, és veletek kihal a bölcseség!
No doubt but ye are the people, and wisdom shall die with you.
3 Nékem is van annyi eszem, mint néktek, és nem vagyok alábbvaló nálatok, és ki ne tudna ilyenféléket?
But I have understanding as well as you; I am not inferior to you; yea, who knoweth not such things as these?
4 Kikaczagják a saját barátai azt, mint engem, a ki Istenhez kiált és meghallgatja őt. Kikaczagják az igazat, az ártatlant!
I am as one that is a laughing-stock to his neighbour, a man that called upon God, and He answered him; the just, the innocent man is a laughing-stock,
5 A szerencsétlen megvetni való, gondolja, a ki boldog; ez vár azokra, a kiknek lábok roskadoz.
A contemptible brand in the thought of him that is at ease, a thing ready for them whose foot slippeth.
6 A kóborlók sátrai csendesek és bátorságban vannak, a kik ingerlik az Istent, és a ki kezében hordja Istenét.
The tents of robbers prosper, and they that provoke God are secure, in whatsoever God bringeth into their hand.
7 Egyébiránt kérdezd meg csak a barmokat, majd megtanítanak, és az égnek madarait, azok megmondják néked.
But ask now the beasts, and they shall teach thee; and the fowls of the air, and they shall tell thee;
8 Avagy beszélj a földdel és az megtanít téged, a tengernek halai is elbeszélik néked.
Or speak to the earth, and it shall teach thee; and the fishes of the sea shall declare unto thee;
9 Mindezek közül melyik nem tudja, hogy az Úrnak keze cselekszi ezt?
Who knoweth not among all these, that the hand of the LORD hath wrought this?
10 A kinek kezében van minden élő állatnak élete, és minden egyes embernek a lelke.
In whose hand is the soul of every living thing, and the breath of all mankind. —
11 Nemde nem a fül próbálja-é meg a szót, és az íny kóstolja meg az ételt?
Doth not the ear try words, even as the palate tasteth its food?
12 A vén emberekben van-é a bölcseség, és az értelem a hosszú életben-é?
Is wisdom with aged men, and understanding in length of days? —
13 Ő nála van a bölcseség és hatalom, övé a tanács és az értelem.
With Him is wisdom and might; He hath counsel and understanding.
14 Ímé, a mit leront, nem épül föl az; ha valakire rázárja az ajtót, nem nyílik föl az.
Behold, He breaketh down, and it cannot be built again; He shutteth up a man, and there can be no opening.
15 Ímé, ha a vizeket elfogja, kiszáradnak; ha kibocsátja őket, felforgatják a földet.
Behold, He withholdeth the waters, and they dry up; also He sendeth them out, and they overturn the earth.
16 Ő nála van az erő és okosság; övé az eltévelyedett és a ki tévelygésre visz.
With Him is strength and sound wisdom; the deceived and the deceiver are His.
17 A tanácsadókat fogságra viszi, és a birákat megbolondítja.
He leadeth counsellors away stripped, and judges maketh He fools.
18 A királyok bilincseit feloldja, és övet köt derekukra.
He looseth the bond of kings, and bindeth their loins with a girdle.
19 A papokat fogságra viszi, és a hatalmasokat megbuktatja.
He leadeth priests away stripped, and overthroweth the mighty.
20 Az ékesen szólótól eltávolítja a beszédet és a vénektől elveszi a tanácsot.
He removeth the speech of men of trust, and taketh away the sense of the elders.
21 Szégyent zúdít az előkelőkre, és a hatalmasok övét megtágítja.
He poureth contempt upon princes, and looseth the belt of the strong.
22 Feltárja a sötétségből a mélységes titkokat, és a halálnak árnyékát is világosságra hozza.
He uncovereth deep things out of darkness, and bringeth out to light the shadow of death.
23 Nemzeteket növel fel, azután elveszíti őket; nemzeteket terjeszt ki messzire, azután elűzi őket.
He increaseth the nations, and destroyeth them; He enlargeth the nations, and leadeth them away.
24 Elveszi eszöket a föld népe vezetőinek, és úttalan pusztában bujdostatja őket.
He taketh away the heart of the chiefs of the people of the land, and causeth them to wander in a wilderness where there is no way.
25 És világtalan setétben tapogatóznak, és tántorognak, mint a részeg.
They grope in the dark without light, and He maketh them to stagger like a drunken man.
