Ézsaiás 1
1 Ésaiásnak, Ámós fiának látása, melyet látott Júda és Jeruzsálem felől, Uzziásnak, Jóthámnak, Akháznak és Ezékiásnak, a Júda királyainak napjaiban.
The visions of Isaiah, the son of Amoz, which he saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem, in the days of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah.
2 Halljátok egek, és vedd füleidbe föld! mert az Úr szól: Fiakat neveltem, s méltóságra emeltem, és ők elpártolának tőlem.
Hear, O heavens, and give ear, O earth! For Jehovah speaketh: “I have nourished and brought up children, And they have rebelled against me.
3 Az ökör ismeri gazdáját, és a szamár az ő urának jászlát; Izráel nem ismeri, az én népem nem figyel reá!
The ox knoweth his owner, And the ass his master's crib; But Israel doth not know; My people do not consider.”
4 Oh gonosz nemzetség, hamissággal megterheltetett nép, gonosz mag, nemtelen fiak! elhagyták az Urat, megútálták az Izráel Szentjét, és elfordultak tőle.
Ah, sinful nation! a people laden with iniquity! A race of evil-doers! degenerate children! They have forsaken Jehovah; they have despised the Holy One of Israel; They have gone backward.
5 Miért ostorozzalak tovább, holott a bűnt növelitek? Minden fej beteg, és minden szív erőtelen.
Where can ye be smitten again, Since ye renew your rebellion? The whole head is sick, and the whole heart faint;
6 Tetőtől talpig nincs e testben épség, csupa seb és dagadás és kelevény, a melyeket ki sem nyomtak, be sem kötöztek, olajjal sem lágyítottak.
From the sole of the foot even to the head, there is no soundness in it; It is all bruises, and stripes, and flesh wounds, Neither pressed, nor bound up, nor softened with ointment.
7 Országtok pusztaság, városaitokat tűz perzselé föl, földeteket szemetek láttára idegenek emésztik, és pusztaság az, mint a hol idegenek dúltak;
Your country is desolate; Your cities are burnt with fire; Your ground, strangers devour it before your eyes; It is become desolate, destroyed by an enemy.
8 És úgy maradt a Sion leánya, mint kunyhó a szőlőben, mint kaliba az ugorkaföldön, mint megostromlott város.
And the daughter of Zion is left as a shed in a vineyard, As a hut in a garden of cucumbers, As a besieged city.
9 Ha a seregeknek Ura valami keveset meg nem hagyott volna bennünk, úgy jártunk volna mint Sodoma, és Gomorához volnánk hasonlók.
Had not Jehovah of hosts left us a small remnant, We had soon become as Sodom; We had been like to Gomorrah.
10 Halljátok az Úrnak beszédét, Sodoma fejedelmei, és vedd füleidbe Istenünk tanítását, Gomora népe!
Hear ye the word of Jehovah, ye princes of Sodom! Give ear to the instruction of our God, ye people of Gomorrah!
11 Mire való nékem véres áldozataitoknak sokasága? ezt mondja az Úr; megelégeltem a kosok egészen égőáldozatait és a hízlalt barmok kövérét; s a tulkok, bárányok és bakok vérében nem gyönyörködöm;
What to me is the multitude of your sacrifices? saith Jehovah; I am satiated with burnt-offerings of rams, and the fat of fed beasts; In the blood of bullocks and of lambs and of goats I have no delight.
12 Ha eljöttök, hogy színem előtt megjelenjetek, ki kivánja azt tőletek, hogy pitvarimat tapossátok?
When ye come to appear before me, Who hath required this of you, to tread my courts?
13 Ne hozzatok többé hazug ételáldozatot, a jó illattétel útálat előttem; újhold, szombat s ünnepre-felhívás: bűnt és ünneplést el nem szenvedhetek.
Bring no more false oblations! Incense is an abomination to me, The new moon also, and the sabbath, and the calling of the assembly; Iniquity and festivals I cannot endure.
14 Újholdaitokat és ünnepeiteket gyűlöli lelkem; terhemre vannak, elfáradtam viselni.
Your new moons and your feasts my soul hateth; They are a burden to me; I am weary of bearing them.
15 És ha kiterjesztitek kezeiteket, elrejtem szemeimet előletek; sőt ha megsokasítjátok is az imádságot, én meg nem hallgatom: vérrel rakvák kezeitek.
When ye spread forth your hands, I will hide mine eyes from you; Yea, when ye multiply prayers, I will not hear: Your hands are full of blood!
16 Mosódjatok, tisztuljatok meg, távoztassátok el szemeim elől cselekedeteitek gonoszságát, szünjetek meg gonoszt cselekedni;
Wash you; make you clean; Put away your evil doings from before mine eyes;
17 Tanuljatok jót tenni; törekedjetek igazságra, vezessétek jóra az erőszakoskodót, pártoljátok az árvák és özvegyek ügyét.
Cease to do evil; Learn to do well; Seek justice; relieve the oppressed; Defend the fatherless; plead for the widow!
18 No jertek, törvénykezzünk, azt mondja az Úr! ha bűneitek skárlátpirosak, hófehérek lesznek, és ha vérszínűek, mint a karmazsin, olyanok lesznek, mint a gyapjú.
Come, now, and let us argue together, saith Jehovah. Though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; Though they be red as crimson, they shall be like wool.
19 Ha engedelemmel hallgatándotok, e föld javaival éltek;
If ye be willing and obedient, Ye shall consume the good of the land.
20 És ha vonakodtok, sőt pártot üttök, fegyver emészt meg; mert az Úr szája szólt!
But if ye refuse, and be rebellious, The sword shall consume you; For the mouth of Jehovah hath said it.
21 Mint lett paráznává a hív város! teljes vala jogossággal, igazság lakozott benne, és most gyilkosok!
How is the faithful city become a harlot, She that was full of equity! Once justice dwelt in her, but now murderers!
22 Ezüstöd salakká lett, tiszta borod vízzel elegyítve:
Thy silver is become dross; Thy wine is adulterated with water.
23 Fejedelmid megátalkodottak és lopóknak társai; mind szereti az ajándékot és vesztegetést hajhász, árvát nem pártolnak, és az özvegy ügye nem kerül eléjök.
Thy princes are faithless, companions of thieves; Every one of them loveth gifts, and seeketh rewards; They render not justice to the fatherless, And the cause of the widow cometh not before them.
24 Ezért azt mondja az Úr, a seregeknek Ura, Izráel erős Istene: Jaj! mert vígasztalást veszek háborgatóimon, és bosszút állok ellenségimen!
Wherefore, thus saith the Lord, Jehovah of hosts, the Mighty One of Israel: Ha! I will ease me of mine adversaries, And avenge me of mine enemies.
25 És kezemet ellened fordítom, és kiolvasztom mintegy lúggal salakodat, és eltávolítom minden ólmodat;
And I will again turn my hand toward thee, And wholly purge away thy dross, And take away all thy alloy.
26 És adok néked oly birákat, mint régen, és oly tanácsosokat, mint kezdetben, s ekkor azt mondják te néked: ez igaz város, ez hív város.
And I will restore thee judges, as at the first, And counsellors, as at the beginning. Then shalt thou be called the city of righteousness, the faithful city.
27 Sion jogosság által váltatik meg, és megtérői igazság által;
Through justice shall Zion be delivered, And her reformed sons through righteousness.
28 De elvesznek a bűnösök és gonoszok egyetemben, s megemésztetnek, a kik az Urat elhagyták.
But destruction shall fall at once on the rebels and sinners; Yea, they that forsake Jehovah shall be consumed.
29 Mert szégyen éri őket a cserfákért, a melyekben gyönyörködétek, és pirulni fogtok a kertek miatt, a melyeket kedveltek;
For ye shall be ashamed of the terebinths in which ye delighted; Ye shall blush for the gardens which ye loved;
30 És hasonlatosok lesztek az elhullott levelű terpentinfához, és a víz nélkül való kerthez:
And ye shall be as a terebinth-tree whose leaves are withered, And as a garden in which is no water.
31 És csepüvé lesz az erős, és munkája szikrává: mindketten égni fognak, és oltójok nem lészen.
The strong shall become tow, And his work a spark of fire; Both shall burn together, And none shall quench them.
