1 Mózes 50
1 József pedig az ő atyja orczájára borúla és siránkozék felette és csókolgatá őt.
Joseph [May he add] fell on his father’s face, wept on him, and kissed him.
2 És megparancsolá József az ő szolgáinak, az orvosoknak, hogy balzsamozzák be az ő atyját; és bebalzsamozák az orvosok Izráelt.
Joseph [May he add] enjoined his servants, the physicians, to embalm his father; and the physicians embalmed Israel [God prevails].
3 Mikor negyven nap eltelék, mert akkorra telnek be a bebalzsamozás napjai, siraták őt az Égyiptombeliek hetven napig.
Forty days were fulfilled for him, for that is how many the days it takes to embalm. The Egyptians [people from Abode of slavery] wept for him for seventy days.
4 És elmúlának az ő siratásának napjai, és szóla József a Faraó házanépéhez, mondván: Ha kedves vagyok előttetek, szóljatok kérlek a Faraónak, mondván:
When the days of weeping for him were past, Joseph [May he add] spoke to the house of Pharaoh, saying, “If now I have found chen ·grace· in your eyes, please speak in the ears of Pharaoh, saying,
5 Az én atyám engem megesketett, mondván: Ímé én meghalok; az én síromba, melyet Kanaán földén ástam magamnak, oda temess el engem. Most hát kérlek, hadd menjek el, és temessem el az én atyámat, azután visszatérek.
‘My father made me swear, saying, “Behold, I am dying. Bury me in my grave which I have dug for myself in the land of Canaan [Humbled].” Now therefore, please let me go up and bury my father, and I will come again.’”
6 És monda a Faraó: Eredj el és temesd el a te atyádat, a mint megesketett téged.
Pharaoh said, “Go up, and bury your father, just like he made you swear.”
7 Elméne azért József, hogy az ő atyját eltemesse, és vele együtt felmenének mind a Faraó szolgái, az ő házának vénei és Égyiptom földének minden vénei.
Joseph [May he add] went up to bury his father; and with him went up all the servants of Pharaoh, the elders of his house, all the elders of the land of Egypt [Abode of slavery],
8 Józsefnek is egész háznépe; és az ő bátyjai, és az ő atyjának háznépe; csak gyermekeiket, juhaikat és barmaikat hagyták a Gósen földén.
All the house of Joseph [May he add], his brothers, and his father’s house. Only their little ones, their flocks, and their herds, they left in the land of Goshen [Drawing near].
9 Felmenének annakfelette ő vele szekerek is és lovagok, úgy hogy igen nagy sereg vala.
There went up with him both chariots and horsemen. It was a very great company.
10 Mikor eljutának Atád szérűjéhez, mely a Jordánon túl van, nagy és keserves sírással sírának ott. József pedig hét napig gyászolá az ő atyját.
They came to the threshing floor of Atad, which is beyond the Jordan [Descender], and there they lamented with a very great and severe lamentation. He mourned for his father seven days.
11 És láták az ország lakosai, a Kanaán népe azt a gyászt Atád szérűjénél, és mondának: Keserves gyásza ez az Égyiptombelieknek. Azért nevezék azt a helyet Ábel Miczrajimnak, mely a Jordánon túl van.
When the inhabitants of the land, the Canaanites [Descendants of Humbled], saw the mourning in the floor of Atad, they said, “This is a grievous mourning by the Egyptians [people from Abode of slavery].” Therefore its name was called Abel [Vanity, Mourning] Mizraim, which is beyond the Jordan [Descender].
12 Aképen cselekedének azért Jákóbbal az ő fiai, a miképen megparancsolta vala nékik.
His sons did to him just as he enjoined them,
13 Elvivék ugyanis őt az ő fiai Kanaán földére és eltemeték őt a Makpelah mezőnek barlangjába, melyet vett vala Ábrahám a mezővel együtt temetésre való örökségnek a Khitteus Efrontól Mamrénak átellenében.
for his sons carried him into the land of Canaan [Humbled], and buried him in the cave of the field of Machpelah [Double], which Abraham [Father of a multitude] bought with the field, for a possession of a burial site, from Ephron [Fawn-like] the Hittite [Descendant of Trembling fear], before Mamre [Bitter, Fatness].
14 És visszatére József Égyiptomba, ő, és az ő atyjafiai, és mind azok, kik vele fölmentek vala az ő atyjának temetésére, minekutána eltemette az ő atyját.
Joseph [May he add] returned into Egypt [Abode of slavery]— he, and his brothers, and all that went up with him to bury his father, after he had buried his father.
15 A mint láták József bátyjai, hogy az ő atyjok meghalt, ezt mondják vala: Hátha gyűlölni fog minket József, és visszaadja nékünk mindazt a gonoszt, a mit rajta elkövettünk.
When Joseph [May he add]’s brothers saw that their father was dead, they said, “It may be that Joseph [May he add] will hate us, and will fully pay us back for all the evil which we did to him.”
16 Izenetet küldének azért Józsefhez, mondván: A te atyád megparancsolta nékünk az ő holta előtt, mondván:
They sent a message to Joseph [May he add], saying, “Your father enjoined before he died, saying,
17 Így szóljatok Józsefhez: Kérünk téged, bocsásd meg a te atyádfiainak vétkét és bűnöket, mert gonoszul cselekedtek te ellened. Most azért bocsásd meg azoknak vétkét, a kik a te atyád Istenét szolgálják. József pedig sír vala, mikor ezt mondák néki.
‘You shall tell Joseph [May he add], “Now please forgive the rebellious breach of relationship of your brothers, and their habitual sin ·missing the mark·, because they did evil to you.”’ Now, please forgive the rebellious breach of relationship of the servants of the God of your father.” Joseph [May he add] wept when they spoke to him.
18 Járulának pedig ő hozzá az ő testvérei is, és leborúlának előtte és mondának: Ímé mi a te szolgáid vagyunk.
His brothers also went and fell down before his face; and they said, “Behold, we are your servants.”
19 József pedig monda: Ne féljetek: avagy Isten gyanánt vagyok-é én?
Joseph [May he add] said to them, “Don’t be afraid, for am I in the place of God?
20 Ti gonoszt gondoltatok én ellenem, de Isten azt jóra gondolta fordítani, hogy cselekedjék úgy a mint ma, hogy sok nép életét megtartsa.
As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good, to bring to pass, as it is today, to save many people alive.
21 Most annakokáért ne féljetek: Eltartalak én titeket és a ti gyermekeiteket. És megvígasztalá őket és szívökre beszéle.
Now therefore don’t be afraid. I will nourish you and your little ones.” He comforted them, and spoke kindly to them.
22 József pedig Égyiptomban lakozék; mind ő, mind az ő atyjának házanépe. És éle József száz tíz esztendeig.
Joseph [May he add] lived in Egypt [Abode of slavery], he, and his father’s house. Joseph [May he add] lived one hundred ten years.
23 És látá József Efraimtól harmad ízben való fiait. Manasse fiának Mákhirnak is születtek József térdén gyermekei.
Joseph [May he add] saw Ephraim [Fruit]’s children to the third generation. The children also of Machir, the son of Manasseh [Causing to forget], were born on Joseph [May he add]’s knees.
24 És monda József az ő testvéreinek: Én meghalok, de Isten bizonnyal meglátogat titeket és felvisz titeket e földről arra a földre, melyet esküvel ígért meg Ábrahámnak, Izsáknak és Jákóbnak.
Joseph [May he add] said to his brothers, “I am dying, but God will surely visit you, and bring you up out of this land to the land which he swore to Abraham [Father of a multitude], to Isaac [Laughter], and to Jacob [Supplanter].”
25 És megesketé József Izráel fiait, mondván: Mikor az Isten titeket bizonnyal meglátogat, vigyétek fel innen az én tetemeimet magatokkal.
Joseph [May he add] took an oath of the children of Israel [God prevails], saying, “God will surely visit you, and you shall carry up my bones from here.”
26 És meghala József száz tíz esztendős korában, és bebalzsamozák, és koporsóba tevék Égyiptomban.
So Joseph [May he add] died, being one hundred ten years old, and they embalmed him, and he was put in a coffin in Egypt [Abode of slavery].
