1 Mózes 40
1 És lőn ezekután, hogy az égyiptomi király pohárnoka és sütőmestere vétkezének az ő urok ellen, az égyiptomi király ellen.
After this, it came to pass, that two eunuchs, the butler and the baker of the king of Egypt, offended their lord.
2 Megharaguvék azért a Faraó az ő két főemberére, a főpohárnokra, és a fősütőmesterre.
And Pharao being angry with them (now the one was chief butler, the other chief baker)
3 És fogságba vetteté azokat a testőrök főhadnagyának házában levő tömlöczbe, arra a helyre, ahol fogva vala József.
He sent them to the prison of the commander of the soldiers, in which Joseph also was prisoner,
4 A testőrök főhadnagya pedig Józsefet rendelé melléjük és szolgála nékik. És jó ideig valának fogságban.
But the keeper of the prison delivered them to Joseph, and he served them. Some little time passed, and they were kept in custody.
5 És az égyiptomi király pohárnoka és sütőmestere, a kik a tömlöczben fogva valának, látának álmot mindketten; mindegyik külön álmot, azon egy éjjel, mindegyik az ő álmának értelme szerint.
And they both dreamed a dream the same night, according to the interpretation agreeing to themselves:
6 És beméne hozzájok József reggel, látá, hogy ímé bánkódnak vala.
And when Joseph was come in to them in the morning, and saw them sad,
7 És megkérdé a Faraó főembereit, a kik az ő ura házánál vele együtt fogva valának, mondván: Miért oly komor ma a ti orczátok?
He asked them, saying: Why is your countenance sadder today than usual?
8 És mondának néki: Álmot láttunk és nincsen a ki megfejtse azt. És monda nékik József: A megfejtés nem Isten dolga-é? mondjátok el, kérlek, nékem.
They answered: We have dreamed a dream, and there is nobody to interpret it to us. And Joseph said to them: Doth not interpretation belong to God? Tell me what you have dreamed.
9 Elbeszélé azért a főpohárnok az ő álmát Józsefnek, és monda néki: Álmomban ímé egy szőlőtő vala előttem;
The chief butler first told his dream: I saw before me a vine,
10 És a szőlőtőn három szál vessző vala, s alighogy bimbózék, virágozék, és gerézdjei megérlelék a szőlőszemeket.
On which were three branches, which by little and little sent out buds, and after the blossoms brought forth ripe grapes:
11 A Faraó pohara pedig az én kezemben vala, és én vevém a szőlőszemeket és facsarám a Faraó poharába, és adom vala a poharat a Faraó kezébe.
And the cup of Pharao was in my hand: and I took the grapes, and pressed them into the cup which I held, and I gave the cup to Pharao.
12 És monda néki József: Ez annak a megfejtése: a három vesszőszál, három nap.
Joseph answered: This is the interpretation of the dream: The three branches are yet three days:
13 Harmadnap múlva a Faraó felmagasztalja a te fejedet, és visszahelyez téged hivatalodba, és adod a Faraó kezébe az ő poharát, az elébbi tiszted szerint, mikor az ő pohárnokja valál.
After which Pharao will remember thy service, and will restore thee to thy former place: and thou shalt present him the cup according to thy office, as before thou wast wont to do.
14 Csakhogy azután megemlékezzél rólam, mikor néked jól lesz dolgod, és cselekedjél, kérlek, irgalmasságot velem, emlékezzél meg rólam a Faraó előtt és szabadíts meg engem e házból.
Only remember me, when it shall be well with thee, and do me this kindness: to put Pharao in mind to take me out of this prison:
15 Mert lopva hoztak el engem a héberek földéről, és itt sem cselekedtem semmit, hogy a tömlöczbe vessenek.
For I was stolen away out of the land of the Hebrews, and here without any fault was cast into the dungeon.
16 És látá a fősütőmester, hogy jól magyaráz vala és monda Józsefnek: Álmodtam én is, hogy ímé három kosár kalács vala fejemen.
The chief baker seeing that he had wisely interpreted the dream, said: I also dreamed a dream, That I had three baskets of meal upon my head:
17 A felső kosárban pedig valának a Faraónak mindenféle süteményei, és a madarak eszik vala azokat a kosárból, az én fejemről.
And that in one basket which was uppermost, I carried all meats that are made by the art of baking, and that the birds ate out of it.
18 És felele József és monda: Ez annak a magyarázatja: a három kosár, három nap.
Joseph answered: This is the interpretation of the dream: The three baskets are yet three days:
19 Harmadnap múlva fejedet véteti a Faraó és fára akasztat fel téged, és a madarak leeszik rólad húsodat.
After which Pharao will take thy head from thee, and hang thee on a cross, and the birds shall tear thy flesh.
20 S lőn harmadnapon a Faraó születése napja, és vendégséget szerze minden ő szolgáinak, s akkor a főpohárnokot és a fősütőmestert is fölvevé szolgái közé.
The third day after this was the birthday of Pharao: and he made a great feast for his servants, and at the banquet remembered the chief butler, and the chief baker.
21 És a főpohárnokot visszahelyezé pohárnokságába, és nyújtotta a poharat a Faraó kezébe.
And he restored the one to his place to present him the cup:
22 A fősütőmestert pedig felakasztatá; a miképen magyarázta vala nékik József.
The other he hanged on a gibbet, that the truth of the interpreter might be shewn.
23 És nem emlékezék meg a főpohárnok Józsefről, hanem elfelejtkezék róla.
But the chief butler, when things prospered with him, forgot his interpreter.
