1 Mózes 30
1 És látá Rákhel, hogy ő nem szűle Jákóbnak, irigykedni kezde Rákhel az ő nénjére, és monda Jákóbnak: Adj nékem gyermekeket, mert ha nem, meghalok.
Then Rachel, discerning that she was infertile, envied her sister, and so she said to her husband, “Give me children, otherwise I will die.”
2 Felgerjede azért Jákób haragja Rákhel ellen, és monda: Avagy Isten vagyok-é én, ki megtagadta tőled a méhnek gyümölcsét.
Jacob, being angry, responded to her, “Am I in the place of God, who has deprived you of the fruit of your womb?”
3 És monda ez: Ímhol az én szolgálóm Bilha, menj be hozzá, hogy szűljön az én térdeimen, és én is megépüljek ő általa.
But she said: “I have a handmaid Bilhah. Go in to her, so that she may give birth upon my knees, and I may have sons by her.”
4 Adá tehát néki az ő szolgálóját Bilhát feleségűl, és beméne ahhoz Jákób.
And she gave him Bilhah in marriage.
5 És teherbe esék Bilha és szűle Jákóbnak fiat.
And when her husband had gone in to her, she conceived and bore a son.
6 És monda Rákhel: Ítélt felőlem az Isten, és meg is hallgatta szavamat, és adott énnékem fiat: azért nevezé nevét Dánnak.
And Rachel said, “The Lord has judged for me, and he has heeded my voice, giving me a son.” And because of this, she called his name Dan.
7 Ismét fogada az ő méhében, és szűle Bilha, a Rákhel szolgálója más fiat is Jákóbnak.
And conceiving again, Bilhah bore another,
8 És monda Rákhel: Nagy tusakodással tusakodtam az én nénémmel, és győztem; azért nevezé nevét Nafthalinak.
about whom Rachel said, “God has compared me with my sister, and I have prevailed.” And she called him Naphtali.
9 Látván pedig Lea hogy ő megszűnt a szűléstől, vevé az ő szolgálóját Zilpát, és adá azt Jákóbnak feleségűl.
Leah, perceiving that she had desisted from child-bearing, delivered Zilpah, her handmaid, to her husband.
10 És szűle Zilpa, Lea szolgálója, fiat Jákóbnak.
And she, after having borne a son with difficulty,
11 És monda Lea: Szerencsére! és nevezé nevét Gádnak!
said: “Happiness!” And for this reason, she called his name Gad.
12 És szűle Zilpa, Lea szolgálója, más fiat is Jákóbnak.
Likewise, Zilpah bore another.
13 És monda Lea: Oh én boldogságom! bizony boldognak mondanak engem az asszonyok: és nevezé nevét Ásernek.
And Leah said, “This one is for my happiness. Indeed, women will call me blessed.” Because of this, she called him Asher.
14 És kiméne Rúben búzaaratáskor, és talála a mezőn mandragóra-bogyókat s vivé azokat az ő anyjának, Leának. És monda Rákhel Leának: Adj nékem kérlek a fiad mandragóra-bogyóiból.
Then Reuben, going out into the field at the time of the wheat harvest, found mandrakes. These he brought to his mother Leah. And Rachel said, “Give me a portion of your son’s mandrakes.”
15 Az pedig monda néki: Talán keveselled, hogy elvetted tőlem az én férjemet, s a fiam mandragóra-bogyóit is elvennéd tőlem? És monda Rákhel: Háljon veled hát az éjjel a te fiad mandragóra-bogyóiért.
She responded, “Does it seem like such a small matter to you, that you have usurped from me my husband, unless you will also take my son’s mandrakes?” Rachel said, “He will sleep with you this night because of your son’s mandrakes.”
16 Mikor Jákób este a mezőről jöve, eleibe méne Lea, és monda: Én hozzám jőjj be, mert megvettelek a fiam mandragóra-bogyóiért; és nála hála azon éjszaka.
And when Jacob returned from the field in the evening, Leah went out to meet him, and she said, “You will enter to me, because I have hired you for the reward of my son’s mandrakes.” And he slept with her that night.
17 És meghallgatá Isten Leát, mert fogada az ő méhében és szűle Jákóbnak ötödik fiat.
And God heard her prayers. And she conceived and bore a fifth son.
18 És monda Lea: Megadta az Isten jutalmamat, a miért szolgálómat férjemnek adtam; azért nevezé nevét Izsakhárnak.
And she said, “God has given a reward to me, because I gave my handmaid to my husband.” And she called his name Issachar.
19 És ismét fogada az ő méhében Lea, és szűle hatodik fiat Jákóbnak.
Conceiving again, Leah bore a sixth son.
20 És monda Lea: Megajándékozott az Isten engem jó ajándékkal; most már velem lakik az én férjem, mert hat fiat szűltem néki, és nevezé nevét Zebulonnak.
And she said: “God has endowed me with a good dowry. And now, at this turn, my husband will be with me, because I have conceived six sons for him.” And therefore she called his name Zebulun.
21 Annakutána szűle leányt, és nevezé nevét Dínának.
After him, she bore a daughter, named Dinah.
22 Megemlékezék pedig az Isten Rákhelről; és meghallgatá őt az Isten és megnyitá az ő méhét.
The Lord, likewise remembering Rachel, heeded her and opened her womb.
23 És fogada méhében, és szűle fiat, s monda: Elvevé Isten az én gyalázatomat.
And she conceived and bore a son, saying, “God has taken away my reproach.”
24 És nevezé nevét Józsefnek, mondván: Adjon ehhez az Úr nékem más fiat is.
And she called his name Joseph, saying, “The Lord has added to me another son.”
25 És lőn, a mint szűlte vala Rákhel Józsefet, monda Jákób Lábánnak: Bocsáss el engemet, hadd menjek el az én helyembe, az én hazámba.
But when Joseph was born, Jacob said to his father-in-law: “Release me, so that I may return to my native country and to my land.
26 Add meg nékem az én feleségeimet és magzatimat, a kikért szolgáltalak téged, hadd menjek el, mert te tudod az én szolgálatomat, a melylyel szolgáltalak téged.
Give me my wives, and my children, for whom I have served you, so that I may depart. You know the servitude with which I have served you.”
27 És monda néki Lábán: Vajha kedvet találtam volna szemeid előtt! Úgy sejtem, hogy te éretted áldott meg engem az Úr.
Laban said to him: “May I find grace in your sight. I have learned by experience that God has blessed me because of you.
28 És monda: Szabj bért magadnak és én megadom.
Choose your wages, which I will give you.”
29 Ez pedig monda: Te tudod mimódon szolgáltalak téged, és hogy mivé lett nálam a te jószágod.
But he responded: “You know how I have served you, and how great your possession became in my hands.
30 Mert a mi kevesed vala én előttem, sokra szaporodott, és megáldott az Úr téged az én lábam nyomán. Immár mikor tehetek valamit a magam házáért is?
You had little before I came to you, and now you have achieved riches. And the Lord has blessed you since my arrival. It is just, therefore, that at some time I also should provide for my own house.”
31 És monda Lábán: Mit adjak néked? Felele Jákób: Ne adj nékem semmit; juhaidat ismét legeltetem és őrizem, ha nekem ezt a dolgot megteszed:
And Laban said, “What shall I give to you?” But he said, “I want nothing. But if you will do what I ask, I will feed and guard your sheep again.
32 Nyájaidat ma mind végig járom, minden pettyegetett és tarka bárányt kiszaggatok közűlök, és minden fekete bárányt a juhok közűl, s a tarkát és pettyegetettet a kecskék közűl, s legyen ez az én bérem.
Go around through all your flocks and separate all the sheep of variegated or spotted fleece; and whatever will be darkened or blemished or variegated, as much among the sheep as among the goats, will be my wages.
33 S a mikor majd bérem iránt eljövéndesz, mi előtted lesz, becsületességemről ez felel: a mi nem pettyegetett vagy tarka a kecskék, s nem fekete a juhok közt, az mind lopott jószág nálam.
And my justice will answer on my behalf tomorrow, when the time of settlement arrives before you. And all that is not variegated or blemished or darkened, as much among the sheep as among the goats, these will prove me to be a thief.”
34 És monda Lábán: Ám legyen: Vajha a te beszéded szerint lenne.
And Laban said, “I hold favor for this request.”
35 Külön választá azért azon a napon a pettyegetett és tarka kosokat, és minden csíkos lábú és tarka kecskét, mind a melyikben valami fehérség vala, és minden feketét a juhok közűl, és adá az ő fiainak keze alá.
And on that day he separated the she-goats, and the sheep, and the he-goats, and the rams with variegations or with blemishes. But every one of the flock which was of one color, that is, of white or of black fleece, he delivered into the hands of his sons.
36 És három napi járó földet vete maga közé és Jákób közé; Jákób pedig legelteti vala Lábán egyéb juhait.
And he established a distance of three days journey between himself and his son-in-law, who pastured the remainder of his flock.
37 És vőn Jákób zöld nyár-, mogyoró- és gesztenye-vesszőket, és meghántá azokat fehéresen csíkosra, hogy látható legyen a vesszők fehére.
Then Jacob, taking green branches of poplar, and almond, and sycamore trees, debarked them in part. And when the bark was pulled off, in the parts that were stripped, there appeared whiteness, yet the parts that were left whole, remained green. And so, in this way the color was made variegated.
38 És a vesszőket, melyeket meghántott vala, felállítá a csatornákba, az itató válúkba, melyekre a juhok inni járnak vala, szembe a juhokkal, hogy foganjanak, mikor inni jönnek.
And he placed them in the troughs, where the water was poured out, so that when the flocks had arrived to drink, they would have the branches before their eyes, and in their sight they might conceive.
39 És a juhok a vesszők előtt foganának és ellenek vala csíkos lábúakat, pettyegetetteket és tarkákat.
And it happened that, in the very heat of joining together, the sheep looked upon the branches, and they bore the blemished and the variegated, those speckled with diverse color.
40 Azután külön szakasztá Jákób ezeket a bárányokat, és a Lábán nyáját arczczal fordítja vala a csíkos lábú és fekete bárányokra; így szerze magának külön falkákat, melyeket nem ereszte a Lábán juhai közé.
And Jacob divided the flock, and he set the branches in the troughs before the eyes of the rams. Now whatever was white or black belonged to Laban, but, in truth, the others belonged to Jacob, for the flocks were dispersed among one another.
41 És lőn, hogy mikor a nyáj java részének vala párzási ideje, akkor Jákób a vesszőket oda raká a válúkba a juhok eleibe, hogy a vesszőket látva foganjanak.
Therefore, when the first to arrive were climbing on the ewes, Jacob placed the branches in the troughs of water before the eyes of the rams and the sheep, so that they might conceive while they were gazing upon them.
42 De mikor satnya vala a nyáj, nem rakja vala oda s ily módon Lábánéi lőnek a satnyák, a java pedig Jákóbé.
Yet when the late arrivals and the last to conceive were let in, he did not place these. And so those that arrived late became Laban’s, and those that arrived first became Jacob’s.
43 És felette igen meggazdagodék a férfiú; és vala néki sok juha, szolgálója, szolgája, tevéje és szamara.
And the man was enriched beyond limit, and he had many flocks, women servants and men servants, camels and donkeys.
