1 Mózes 24
1 Ábrahám pedig vén élemedett ember vala, és az Úr mindenben megáldotta vala Ábrahámot.
Nowe Abraham was olde, and striken in yeeres, and the Lord had blessed Abraham in all things.
2 Monda azért Ábrahám az ő háza öregebb szolgájának, a ki őnéki mindenében gazda vala: Tedd a kezed tomporom alá!
Therefore Abraham saide vnto his eldest seruant of his house, which had the rule ouer all that he had, Put nowe thine hand vnder my thigh,
3 Hogy megeskesselek téged az Úrra, a mennynek Istenére, és a földnek Istenére, hogy nem vészesz feleséget az én fiamnak a Kananeusok leányai közűl, a kik között lakom.
And I will make thee sweare by ye Lord God of the heauen, and God of the earth, that thou shalt not take a wife vnto my sonne of the daughters of the Canaanites among who I dwel.
4 Hanem elmégysz az én hazámba, és az én rokonságim közé és onnan vészesz feleséget az én fiamnak Izsáknak.
But thou shalt go vnto my countrey, and to my kinred, and take a wife vnto my sone Izhak.
5 Monda pedig őnéki a szolga: Hátha az a leányzó nem akar velem eljőni e földre, ugyan vissza vigyem-é a te fiadat arra a földre, a honnan kijöttél vala?
And the seruant saide to him, What if the woman will not come with me to this land? shall I bring thy sonne againe vnto the lande from whence thou camest?
6 Felele néki Ábrahám: Vigyázz, az én fiamat oda vissza ne vidd.
To whom Abraham answered, Beware that thou bring not my sonne thither againe.
7 Az Úr az égnek Istene, ki engemet kihozott az én atyámnak házából, és az én rokonságimnak földéről, a ki szólt nékem, és megesküdött nékem mondván: A te magodnak adom ezt a földet; elbocsátja az ő Angyalát te előtted, hogy onnan végy az én fiamnak feleséget.
The Lord God of heauen, who tooke me from my fathers house, and from the land where I was borne, and that spake vnto me, and that sware vnto me, saying, Vnto thy seede wil I giue this land, he shall send his Angel before thee, and thou shalt take a wife vnto my sonne from thence.
8 Hogyha pedig nem akar a leányzó teveled eljőni, ment lészesz az én esketésem alól; csakhogy az én fiamat oda vissza ne vidd.
Neuertheles if the woman wil not follow thee, then shalt thou bee discharged of this mine othe: onely bring not my sonne thither againe.
9 Veté azért a szolga az ő kezét az ő urának Ábrahámnak tompora alá, és megesküvék néki e dolog felől.
Then the seruant put his hand vnder the thigh of Abraham his master, and sware to him for this matter.
10 És vőn a szolga tíz tevét az ő urának tevéi közűl, és elindula; (mert az urának minden gazdagsága az ő kezében vala). Felkele tehát és elméne Mésopotámiába, a Nákhor városába.
So the seruant tooke ten camels of the camels of his master, and departed: (for he had all his masters goods in his hand: ) and so he arose, and went to Aram Naharaim, vnto the citie of Nahor.
11 És megpihenteté a tevéket a városon kivűl egy kútfőnél, este felé, mikor a leányok vizet meríteni járnak.
And he made his camels to lye downe without the citie by a well of water, at euentide about the time that the women come out to draw water.
12 És monda: Uram! én uramnak Ábrahámnak Istene, hozd elém még ma, és légy kegyelmes az én uram Ábrahám iránt.
And he said, O Lord God of my master Abraham, I beseech thee, send me good speede this day, and shew mercy vnto my master Abraham.
13 Ímé én a víz forrása mellé állok és e város lakosainak leányai kijőnek vizet meríteni.
Lo, I stand by the well of water, whiles the mens daughters of this citie come out to drawe water.
14 Legyen azért, hogy a mely leánynak ezt mondom: Hajtsd meg a te vedredet, hogy igyam, és az azt mondándja: igyál, sőt a te tevéidet is megitatom: hogy azt rendelted légyen a te szolgádnak Izsáknak, és erről ismerjem meg, hogy irgalmasságot cselekedtél az én urammal.
Graunt therefore that ye maide, to whom I say, Bowe downe thy pitcher, I pray thee, that I may drinke: if she say, Drinke, and I will giue thy camels drinke also: may be she that thou hast ordeined for thy seruant Izhak: and thereby shall I know that thou hast shewed mercy on my master.
15 És lőn, minekelőtte elvégezte volna a beszédet, ímé jő vala Rebeka, Bethuélnek leánya, a ki Milkhának, az Ábrahám testvérének Nákhor feleségének vala fia, és pedig vedrével a vállán.
And nowe yer he had left speaking, beholde, Rebekah came out, the daughter of Bethuel, sonne of Milcah the wife of Nahor Abrahams brother, and her pitcher vpon her shoulder.
16 A leányzó pedig felette szép ábrázatú vala; szűz, és férfi még nem ismeré őt, és aláméne a forrásra, és megtölté vedrét, és feljöve.
(And the maide was very faire to looke vpon, a virgine and vnknowen of man) and she went downe to the well, and filled her pitcher, and came vp.
17 Akkor a szolga eleibe futamodék és monda: Kérlek, adj innom nékem egy kevés vizet a te vedredből.
Then the seruant ranne to meete her, and said, Let me drinke, I pray thee, a litle water of thy pitcher.
18 Az pedig monda: Igyál uram! és sietve leereszté a vedret az ő kezére, és inni ada néki.
And she said, Drinke sir: and she hasted, and let downe her pitcher vpon her hand and gaue him drinke.
19 És minekutána eleget adott néki innia, monda: A te tevéidnek is merítek, míg eleget nem isznak.
And when she had giuen him drinke, she said, I will drawe water for thy camels also vntill they haue drunken inough.
20 És sietett és kiüríté vedrét a válúba és ismét elfuta a forrásra meríteni, és meríte mind az ő tevéinek.
And she powred out her pitcher into the trough speedily; and ranne againe vnto the well to drawe water, and she drewe for all his camels.
21 Az ember pedig álmélkodva néz vala reá, és veszteg hallgat vala, tudni akarván: vajjon szerencséssé teszi-é az Úr az ő útját, vagy nem.
So the man wondred at her, and helde his peace, to knowe whether the Lord had made his iourney prosperous or not.
22 És lőn, mikor a tevék már eleget ittak, elévőn az ember egy aranyfüggőt, a melynek súlya fél siklus, és két karpereczet, a melynek súlya tíz arany.
And when the camels had left drinking, the man tooke a golden abillement of halfe a shekell weight, and two bracelets for her hands, of ten shekels weight of golde:
23 És monda: Kinek a leánya vagy te? kérlek mondd meg nékem: van-é a te atyádnak házában hálásra való helyünk?
And he said, Whose daughter art thou? tell me, I pray thee, Is there roume in thy fathers house for vs to lodge in?
24 Az pedig felele néki: Bethuél leánya vagyok a Milkha fiáé, a kit ő Nákhornak szűlt.
Then she said to him, I am the daughter of Bethuel the sonne of Milcah whom she bare vnto Nahor.
25 Azt is mondá: Szalma is, abrak is bőven van minálunk, és hálásra való hely is van.
Moreouer she said vnto him, We haue litter also and prouender ynough, and roume to lodge in.
26 Meghajtá azért magát az ember, és imádá az Urat.
And the man bowed himselfe and worshipped the Lord,
27 És monda: Áldott az Úr az én uramnak Ábrahámnak Istene, ki nem vonta meg az ő irgalmasságát és hűségét az én uramtól. Az Úr vezérlett engem ez útamban az én uram atyjafiainak házához.
And said, Blessed be the Lord God of my master Abraham, which hath not withdrawen his mercie and his trueth from my master: for when I was in the way, the Lord brought me to my masters brethrens house.
28 Elfuta azonközben a leányzó, és elbeszélé az ő anyja házában, a mint ezek történtek.
And the maide ranne and tolde them of her mothers house according to these wordes.
29 Vala pedig Rebekának egy bátyja, kinek neve Lábán vala. És kifutamodék Lábán ahhoz az emberhez a forráshoz.
Now Rebekah had a brother called Laban, and Laban ranne vnto the man to the well.
30 Mert mikor látta a függőt, és a pereczeket az ő húgának karjain, és hallotta húgának Rebekának beszédét, a ki ezt mondja vala: Így szóla nékem az a férfiú; akkor méne ki a férfiúhoz; és ímé ez ott áll vala a tevék mellett a forrásnál.
For when he had seene the earings and the bracelets in his sisters hands, and when he heard the wordes of Rebekah his sister, saying, Thus said the man vnto me, then he went to the man, and loe, he stoode by the camels at the well.
31 És monda: Jőjj be Istennek áldott embere; mit állasz ide kinn? holott én elkészítettem a házat, és a tevéknek is van hely.
And he saide, Come in thou blessed of the Lord: wherefore standest thou without, seeing I haue prepared the house, and roume for ye camels?
32 Beméne azért a férfiú a házhoz, ő pedig lenyergelé a tevéket, és ada a tevéknek szalmát és abrakot; és vizet az ő lábai megmosására és az emberek lábainak, kik ő vele valának.
Then the man came into the house, and he vnsadled the camels, and brought litter and prouender for the camels, and water to wash his feete, and the mens feete that were with him.
33 És enni valót tevének eleibe, de ő monda: Nem eszem, míg el nem mondom az én beszédemet. És szóla: Mondd el.
Afterward the meate was set before him: but he saide, I will not eate, vntill I haue saide my message: And he said, Speake on.
34 Monda azért: Én az Ábrahám szolgája vagyok.
Then he said, I am Abrahams seruant,
35 Az Úr pedig igen megáldotta az én uramat, úgy hogy nagygyá lett: mert adott néki juhokat, barmokat, ezüstöt, aranyat, szolgákat, szolgálóleányokat, tevéket, szamarakat.
And the Lord hath blessed my master wonderfully, that he is become great: for he hath giuen him sheepe, and beeues, and siluer, and golde, and men seruants, and maide seruants, and camels, and asses.
36 És Sára az én uramnak felesége fiat szűlt az én uramnak, az ő vénségében, és annak adá mindenét, a mije van.
And Sarah my masters wife hath borne a sonne to my master, when she was olde, and vnto him hath he giuen all that he hath.
37 Engem pedig megesküdtetett az én uram, mondván: Ne végy feleséget az én fiamnak a Kananeusok leányai közűl, a kiknek földjén én lakom.
Now my master made me sweare, saying, Thou shalt not take a wife to my sonne of the daughters of the Canaanites, in whose land I dwell:
38 Hanem menj el az én atyámnak házához, és az én rokonságom közé, hogy onnan végy feleséget az én fiamnak.
But thou shalt go vnto my fathers house and to my kinred, and take a wife vnto my sonne.
39 Mikor pedig azt mondám az én uramnak: Hátha nem akarna velem az a leányzó eljőni?
Then I saide vnto my master, What if the woman will not follow me?
40 Monda nékem: Az Úr, a kinek én színe előtt jártam, elbocsátja az ő angyalát teveled, és szerencséssé teszi a te útadat, hogy feleséget vehess az én fiamnak az én nemzetségem közűl, és az én atyám házából.
Who answered me, The Lord, before who I walke, will send his Angel with thee, and prosper thy iourney, and thou shalt take a wife for my sonne of my kinred and my fathers house.
41 Csak akkor leszesz fölmentve esketésem alól, ha elmenéndesz az én nemzetségem közé; és ha nem adják oda: ment leszesz az én esketésem alól.
Then shalt thou be discharged of mine othe, when thou commest to my kinred: and if they giue thee not one, thou shalt be free from mine othe.
42 Mikor ma a forráshoz érkezém, mondék: Uram, én uramnak, Ábrahámnak Istene, vajha szerencséssé tennéd az én útamat, melyen járok:
So I came this day to the well, and said, O Lord, the God of my master Abraham, if thou nowe prosper my iourney which I goe,
43 Ímé én e forrás mellett állok; és legyen, hogy az a hajadon, a ki kijön vizet meríteni, s a kinek azt mondom: Adj innom nékem egy kevés vizet a te vedredből,
Behold, I stand by the well of water: when a virgine commeth forth to drawe water, and I say to her, Giue me, I pray thee, a litle water of thy pitcher to drinke,
44 És az ezt mondja nékem: Te is igyál, és a te tevéidnek is merítek; az legyen a feleség, a kit az Úr az én uram fiának rendelt.
And she say to me, Drinke thou, and I will also drawe for thy camels, let her be ye wife, which the Lord hath prepared for my masters sonne.
45 Én még el sem végeztem vala az én szívemben a beszédet, és ímé kijő vala Rebeka, vedrével a vállán, és leméne a forrásra és meríte, én pedig mondék néki: Adj innom kérlek.
And before I had made an end of speaking in mine heart, beholde, Rebekah came foorth, and her pitcher on her shoulder, and she went downe vnto the well, and drewe water. Then I said vnto her, Giue me drinke, I pray thee.
46 Ő pedig sietett és leereszté az ő vedrét és monda: Igyál, sőt a te tevéidnek is inni adok; és én ivám, s a tevéknek is inni ada.
And she made haste, and tooke downe her pitcher from her shoulder, and said, Drinke, and I will giue thy camels drinke also. So I dranke, and she gaue the camels drinke also.
47 És megkérdezém őt és mondék: Ki leánya vagy? ő pedig felele: Bethuélnek, a Nákhor fiának leánya vagyok, a kit Milkha szűlt vala őnéki. Ekkor a függőt orrába, és e pereczeket karjaira tevém.
Then I asked her, and said, Whose daughter art thou? And she answered, The daughter of Bethuel Nahors sonne, whom Milcah bare vnto him. Then I put the abillement vpon her face, and the bracelets vpon her hands:
48 Meghajtván azért magamat, imádám az Urat, és áldám az Urat, az én uramnak Ábrahámnak Istenét, ki engem igaz úton vezérelt, hogy az én uram atyjafiának leányát vegyem az ő fiának feleségűl.
And I bowed downe and worshipped the Lord, and blessed the Lord God of my master Abraham, which had brought me the right way to take my masters brothers daughter vnto his sone.
49 Most azért, ha szeretettel és hűséggel akartok lenni az én uramhoz, mondjátok meg; ha pedig nem, adjátok tudtomra, hogy én vagy jobbra vagy balra forduljak.
Now therefore, if ye will deale mercifully and truely with my master, tell me: and if not, tell me that I may turne me to the right hand or to the left.
50 És felele Lábán és Bethuél, és mondának: Az Úrtól van e dolog: Nem mondhatunk neked sem jót, sem rosszat.
Then answered Laban and Bethuel, and said, This thing is proceeded of the Lord: we cannot therefore say vnto thee, neither euill nor good.
51 Ímé előtted van Rebeka, vegyed, menj el; és legyen felesége a te urad fiának, a mint az Úr elvégezte.
Beholde, Rebehak is before thee, take her and goe, that she may be thy masters sonnes wife, euen as the Lord hath said.
52 És lőn, a mint hallja vala az Ábrahám szolgája azoknak beszédét, meghajtá magát a földig az Úr előtt.
And when Abrahams seruant heard their wordes, he bowed himselfe toward the earth vnto the Lord.
53 És hoza elő a szolga ezüst edényeket és arany edényeket és ruhákat, és adá azokat Rebekának: drága ajándékokat ada az ő bátyjának is és az ő anyjának.
Then the seruant tooke foorth iewels of siluer, and iewels of golde, and raiment, and gaue to Rebekah: also vnto her brother and to her mother he gaue gifts.
54 Evének azután és ivának, ő és a férfiak, a kik ő vele valának, és ott hálának. Mikor pedig felkelének reggel, monda: Bocsássatok el engem az én uramhoz.
Afterward they did eate and drinke, both he, and the men that were with him, and taried all night. and when they rose vp in the morning, he said, Let me depart vnto my master.
55 Monda pedig a leány bátyja és anyja: Maradjon velünk a leány még vagy tíz napig, azután menjen el.
Then her brother and her mother answered, Let the maide abide with vs, at the least ten dayes: then shall she goe.
56 A szolga pedig monda nékik: Ne késleljetek meg engem, holott az Úr szerencséssé tette az én útamat; bocsássatok el azért engem, hogy menjek az én uramhoz.
But he said vnto them, Hinder you me not, seeing the Lord hath prospered my iourney: send me away, that I may goe to my master.
57 Mondának akkor: Hívjuk elő a leányt, és kérdjük meg őt.
Then they said, We will call the maide, and aske her consent.
58 Szólíták azért Rebekát, és mondának néki: Akarsz-é elmenni e férfiúval? és monda: Elmegyek.
And they called Rebekah, and saide vnto her, Wilt thou go with this man? And she answered, I will go.
59 Elbocsáták azért Rebekát, az ő húgokat, és az ő dajkáját, és az Ábrahám szolgáját, és az ő embereit.
So they let Rebekah their sister goe, and her nourse, with Abrahams seruant and his men.
60 És megáldák Rebekát, és mondák néki: Te mi húgunk! szaporodjál ezerszer való ezerig. És bírja a te magod az ő ellenségeinek kapuját.
And they blessed Rebekah, and sayde vnto her, Thou art our sister, growe into thousande thousands, and thy seede possesse the gate of his enemies.
61 És felkele Rebeka és az ő szolgálóleányai, és felűlének a tevékre, s követék azt a férfiút. Így vevé a szolga Rebekát, és elméne.
Then Rebekah arose, and her maydes, and rode vpon the camels, and followed the man. and the seruant tooke Rebekah, and departed.
62 Izsák pedig visszajő vala a Lakhai Rói forrástól; és lakik vala a déli tartományban.
Nowe Izhak came from the way of Beer-lahai-roi, (for he dwelt in the South countrey)
63 És kiméne Izsák este felé elmélkedni a mezőre, és felemelé szemeit és látá, hogy ímé tevék jőnek.
And Izhak went out. to pray in the fielde toward the euening: who lift vp his eyes and looked, and behold, the camels came.
64 Rebeka is felemelé szemeit s meglátá Izsákot, és leszálla a tevéről.
Also Rebekah lift vp her eyes, and when she saw Izhak, she lighted downe from the camel.
65 És monda a szolgának: Kicsoda az a férfiú, a ki a mezőn előnkbe jő? A szolga pedig monda: Az én uram ő. Akkor fogta a fátyolt és elfedezé magát.
(For shee had sayde to the seruant, Who is yonder man, that commeth in the fielde to meete vs? and the seruant had said, It is my master) So she tooke a vaile, and couered her.
66 Elbeszélé azután a szolga Izsáknak mindazokat a dolgokat, a melyeket cselekedett vala.
And the seruant tolde Izhak all things, that he had done.
67 Izsák pedig bevivé Rebekát Sárának az ő anyjának sátorába. És elvevé Rebekát és lőn néki felesége és szereté őt. S megvigasztalódék Izsák az ő anyja halála után.
Afterward Izhak brought her into the tent of Sarah his mother, and he tooke Rebekah, and she was his wife, and he loued her: So Izhak was comforted after his mothers death.
