Ezsdrás 10

1 És mikor imádkozék Ezsdrás és vallást tőn, sírva és földre borulva az Isten háza előtt, sereglének ő hozzá Izráelből igen nagy gyülekezetben férfiak és asszonyok és gyermekek, mert síra a nép is sokat és keservesen.

Whiles Ezra prayed thus, and confessed himselfe weeping, and falling downe before the house of God, there assembled vnto him of Israel a very great Congregation of men and women and children: for the people wept with a great lamentation.

2 És szóla Sekhánia, Jéhielnek fia, az Élám fiai közül, és monda Ezsdrásnak: Mi vétkeztünk a mi Istenünk ellen, hogy idegen feleségeket vettünk magunknak e föld népei közül: mindazáltal van reménysége Izráelnek, mind e mellett is!

Then Shechaniah the sonne of Iehiel one of the sonnes of Elam answered, and sayd to Ezra, We haue trespassed against our God, and haue taken strange wiues of the people of the land, yet nowe there is hope in Israel concerning this.

3 Vessünk ugyanis frigyet a mi Istenünkkel, hogy elbocsátjuk mindazon asszonyokat és a tőlük szülötteket az én Uramnak és azoknak akaratja szerint, a kik reszketve gondolnak a mi Istenünk parancsolatára, és a törvény szerint cselekedjünk!

Now therfore let vs make a couenant with our God, to put away all the wiues (and such as are borne of them) according to the counsell of the Lord, and of those that feare the commandements of our God, and let it be done according to the Lawe.

4 Kelj fel! mert reád néz e dolog, s mi veled leszünk: légy erős és láss hozzá!

Arise: for the matter belogeth vnto thee: we also wil be with thee: be of comfort and do it.

5 Fölkele annakokáért Ezsdrás, és megesketé a papoknak, a Lévitáknak és az egész Izráelnek fejedelmeit, hogy e beszéd szerint fognak cselekedni; és megesküvének.

Then arose Ezra, and caused the chiefe Priestes, the Leuites, and all Israel, to sweare that they would doe according to this worde. So they sware.

6 És fölkele Ezsdrás az Isten háza elől, és elméne Jóhanánnak, Eliásib fiának szobájához s bemenvén abba, kenyeret nem evék, sem vizet nem ivék, mert gyászol vala a rabságból hazajöttek vétke miatt.

And Ezra rose vp from before the house of God, and went into the chamber of Iohanan the sonne of Eliashib: he went euen thither, but he did eate neither bread, nor drunke water: for he mourned, because of the transgression of them of the captiuitie.

7 És meghirdeték Júdában és Jeruzsálemben mindazoknak, a kik a rabságból hazajöttek, hogy Jeruzsálembe gyűljenek;

And they caused a proclamation to goe throughout Iudah and Ierusalem, vnto all them of the captiuitie, that they should assemble themselues vnto Ierusalem.

8 Valaki pedig el nem jön harmadnapra, a fejedelmek és vének tanácsa szerint, adassék minden vagyona a templomnak, és ő maga vettessék ki a rabságból hazajötteknek gyülekezetéből.

And whosoeuer woulde not come within three dayes according to the counsel of the Princes and Elders, all his substance should be forfait, and he should be separate from the Congregation of them of the captiuitie.

9 Összegyűlének azért Júdának és Benjáminnak minden férfiai harmadnapra Jeruzsálembe a kilenczedik hóban, e hó huszadik napján, és leüle az egész nép az Isten házának piaczán, aggódván e dolog és az esőzések miatt.

Then all the men of Iudah and Beniamin assembled theselues vnto Ierusalem within three dayes, which was the twentieth day of the ninth moneth, and all the people sate in the streete of the house of God, trembling for this matter, and for the raine.

10 Ekkor fölkele Ezsdrás, a pap, és monda nékik: Ti vétkeztetek, hogy idegen feleségeket vettetek magatoknak, hogy ezzel is többítenétek Izráel vétkét;

And Ezra the Priest stoode vp, and said vnto them, Ye haue transgressed, and haue taken strange wiues, to increase the trespasse of Israel.

11 Annakokáért tegyetek vallást az Úr előtt, atyáitoknak Istene előtt, és cselekedjetek az ő akaratja szerint, elkülönítvén magatokat e föld népeitől és az idegen feleségektől.

Now therefore giue praise vnto the Lord God of your fathers, and do his will, and separate your selues from the people of the land, and from the strange wiues.

12 És felele az egész gyülekezet, és monda felszóval: Ekképen, a te beszéded szerint kell minékünk cselekednünk!

And all the Congregation answered, and sayd with a loude voyce, So will we do according to thy wordes vnto vs.

13 De e nép igen sok és az esős idő miatt kivül nem állhatunk; annak felette ez nem egy, sem nem két napi munka, mert sokan vagyunk, a kik vétkeztünk e dologban;

But the people are many, and it is a raynie weather, and we are not able to stande without, neither is it the worke of one day or two: for we are many that haue offended in this thing.

14 Hadd álljanak hát elő fejedelmeink, az egész gyülekezeté, és mindenki, a ki idegen feleséget vett magának, városonként jőjjön elő bizonyos időben s velök a városoknak vénei és birái, hogy elfordítsuk magunkról a mi Istenünknek e dolog miatt való búsulásának haragját!

Let our rulers stand therefore before all the Congregation, and let all them which haue taken strange wiues in our cities, come at the time appoynted, and with them the Elders of euery citie and the Iudges thereof, til the fierce wrath of our God for this matter turne away from vs.

15 Csak Jónathán, az Asáhel fia és Jahzéja, a Tikva fia állának fel ez ellen és Mésullám és Sabbethai, a Léviták támogaták őket.

Then were appoynted Ionathan the sonne of Asah-el, and Iahaziah the sonne of Tikuah ouer this matter, and Meshullam and Shabbethai the Leuites helped them.

16 És cselekedének ekképen azok, a kik a rabságból hazajöttek; és választa magának Ezsdrás, a pap férfiakat, a családfőket, családjuk szerint, s mindnyájok nevei feljegyeztettek. És összeülének a tizedik hó első napján, hogy nyomozzák e dolgot;

And they of the captiuitie did so, and departed, euen Ezra the Priest, and the men that were chiefe fathers to the familie of their fathers by name, and sate downe in the first day of the tenth moneth to examine the matter.

17 És bevégezék azt mindazon férfiakra nézve, a kik idegen feleséget vettek vala magoknak, az első hónak első napjáig.

And vntill the first day of the first moneth they were finishing the businesse with al the men that had taken strange wiues.

18 Találtatának pedig a papok fiai közül, a kik idegen feleségeket vettek vala magoknak, Jésuának, a Jósádák fiának és az ő testvéreinek fiai közül: Maaséja, Eliézer, Járib és Gedálja;

And of the sonnes of the Priests there were men founde, that had taken strange wiues, to wit, of the sonnes of Ieshua, the sonne of Iozadak, and of his brethren, Maaseiah, Aeliezer, and Iarib and Gedaliah.

19 És kezöket adák, hogy elbocsátják feleségeiket és egy kos áldozására ítéltetének vétkükért;

And they gaue their hads, that they would put away their wiues, and they that had trespassed, gaue a ramme for their trespasse.

20 Immér fiai közül pedig: Hanáni és Zebádja.

And of the sonnes of Immer, Honani, and Zebadiah.

21 Hárim fiai közül: Maaszéja, Elija, Semája, Jéhiel és Uzzia,

And of the sonnes of Harim, Maaseiah, and Eliiah, and Shemaiah, and Iehiel, and Vzziah.

22 Pashur fiai közül: Eljoénaj, Maaszéja, Ismáel, Nethanéel, Józabád és Elásza;

And of ye sonnes of Pashur, Elioenai, Maaseiah, Ishmael, Nethaneel, Iozabad, and Elasah.

23 Továbbá a Léviták közül: Józabád, Simei és Kélája. (az a Kelita), Pethahja, Júda és Eliézer;

And of the Leuites, Iozabad and Shimei, and Kelaiah, (which is Kelitah) Pethahiah, Iudah and Eliezer.

24 Az énekesek közül pedig: Eliásib, s a kapunállók közül: Sallum, Telem és Uri;

And of the singers, Eliashib. And of the porters, Shallum, and Telem, and Vri.

25 Továbbá Izráel népéből: Parós fiai közül: Ramia, Jezija, Malkija, Mijámin, Eleázár, Malkija és Benája;

And of Israel: of the sonnes of Parosh, Ramiah, and Iesiah, and Malchiah, and Miamin, and Eleazar, and Malchiiah, and Benaiah.

26 Elám fiai közül: Mattánia, Zakariás, Jéhiel, Abdi, Jerémóth és Élija;

And of the sonnes of Elam, Mattaniah, Zechariah, and Iehiel, and Abdi, and Ieremoth, and Eliah.

27 Zattu fiai közül: Eljóénai, Eljásib, Mattánia, Jerémóth, Zabád és Aziza;

And of the sonnes of Zattu, Elioenai, Eliashib, Mattaniah, and Ierimoth, and Zabad, and Aziza.

28 Bébai fiai közül: Jóhanán, Hanánia, Zabbai és Athlai;

And of the sonnes of Bebai, Iehohanan, Hananiah, Zabbai, Athlai.

29 Báni fiai közül: Mesullám, Mallukh, Adája, Jásub, Seál és Rámóth;

And of the sonnes of Bani, Meshullam, Malluch, and Adaiah, Iashub, and Sheal, Ieramoth.

30 Pahath-Moáb fiai közül: Adna, Kelál, Benája, Maaszéja, Mattánia, Besaléel, Binnui és Manasse;

And of the sonnes of Pahath Moab, Adna, and Chelal, Benaiah, Maaseiah, Mattaniah, Bezaleel, and Binnui, and Manasseh.

31 A Hárim fiai pedig: Eliézer, Jissija, Malkija, Semája, Simeon;

And of the sonnes of Harim, Eliezer, Ishiiah, Malchiah, Shemaiah, Shimeon,

32 Benjámin, Mallukh, Semarja;

Beniamin, Malluch, Shamariah.

33 Hásum fiai közül: Mattenai, Mattattá, Zabád, Elifélet, Jerémai, Manasse, Simei,

Of the sonnes of Hashum, Mattenai, Mattattah, Zabad, Eliphelet, Ieremai, Manasseh, Shimei.

34 Báni fiai közül: Maádai, Amrám és Uél;

Of the sonnes of Bani, Maadai, Amram, and Vel,

35 Benája, Bédéja, Keluhu;

Banaiah, Bediah, Chelluh,

36 Vanja, Merémóth, Eliásib;

Vaniah, Meremoth, Eliashib,

37 Mattánia, Mattenai és Jaaszái;

Mattaniah, Mattenai, and Iaasau,

38 Báni, Binnui, Simei;

And Banni, and Bennui, Shimei,

39 Selemia, Náthán és Adája;

And Shelemiah, and Nathan, and Adaiah,

40 Makhnadbai, Sásai, Sárai;

Machnadebai, Shashai, Sharai,

41 Azareél, Selemia és Semária;

Azareel, and Shelemiah, Shemariah,

42 Sallum, Amaria, József:

Shallum, Amariah, Ioseph.

43 A Nebó fiai közül: Jéiel, Mattithja, Zabád, Zebina, Jaddai, Jóel, Benája.

Of the sonnes of Nebo, Ieiel, Mattithiah, Zabad, Zebina, Iadau, and Ioel, Benaiah.

44 Mindezek idegen feleségeket vettek vala magoknak. És valának e feleségek között olyanok is, a kik már fiakat szültek.

All these had taken strange wiues: and among them were women that had children.
