Efézusiakhoz 4
1 Kérlek azért titeket én, ki fogoly vagyok az Úrban, hogy járjatok úgy, mint illik elhívatásotokhoz, melylyel elhívattatok.
I, then, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling, by which you are called,
2 Teljes alázatossággal és szelídséggel, hosszútűréssel, elszenvedvén egymást szeretetben,
with all humility and meekness; with long-suffering, bearing with one another in love;
3 Igyekezvén megtartani a Lélek egységét a békességnek kötelében.
earnestly endeavoring to preserve the unity of the Spirit by the bond of peace.
4 Egy a test és egy a Lélek, miképen elhívatástoknak egy reménységében hívattatok el is;
There is one body, and one Spirit; as also you have been called with one hope of your calling;
5 Egy az Úr, egy a hit, egy a keresztség;
one Lord, one faith, one immersion;
6 Egy az Isten és mindeneknek Atyja, a ki mindeneknek felette van és mindenek által és mindnyájatokban munkálkodik.
one God and Father of all, who is over all, and with all, and in you all.
7 Mindenikünknek pedig adatott a kegyelem a Krisztustól osztott ajándéknak mértéke szerint.
But to every one of us is given favor, according to the measure of the gift of Christ;
8 Ezokáért mondja az Írás: Fölmenvén a magasságba foglyokat vitt fogva, és adott ajándékokat az embereknek.
(Wherefore he says, Having ascended on high, he captivated captivity, and gave gifts to men.
9 (Az pedig, hogy fölment, mit jelentene mást, mint hogy előbb le is szállott a föld alsóbb részeire?
Now, this--Having ascended, what is it, unless, indeed, he had also descended into the lower parts of the earth!
10 A ki leszállott vala, ugyanaz, a ki fel is ment, feljebb minden egeknél, hogy mindeneket betöltsön.)
He who descended, is the same who also ascended far above all the heavens, that he might fill all things.)
11 És Ő adott némelyeket apostolokul, némelyeket prófétákul, némelyeket evangyélistákul, némelyeket pedig pásztorokul és tanítókul:
And he gave some, indeed, Apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;
12 A szentek tökéletesbbítése czéljából szolgálat munkájára, a Krisztus testének építésére:
for the adapting of these saints to the work of the ministry, for the edification of the body of Christ:
13 Míg eljutunk mindnyájan az Isten Fiában való hitnek és az Ő megismerésének egységére, érett férfiúságra, a Krisztus teljességével ékeskedő kornak mértékére:
till we all come to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God; to a perfect man; to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ:
14 Hogy többé ne legyünk gyermekek, kiket ide s tova hány a hab és hajt a tanításnak akármi szele, az embereknek álnoksága által, a tévelygés ravaszságához való csalárdság által;
that we may be no longer children, tossed and carried about with every wind of doctrine by the sight of men, and by cunning craftiness for an artifice of seduction:
15 Hanem az igazságot követvén szeretetben, mindenestől fogva nevekedjünk Abban, a ki a fej, a Krisztusban;
but speaking the truth in love, we may all grow into him, who is the Head, even Christ;
16 A kiből az egész test, szép renddel egyberakatván és egybeszerkesztetvén az Ő segedelmének minden kapcsaival, minden egyes tagnak mértéke szerint való munkássággal teljesíti a testnek nevekedését a maga fölépítésére szeretetben.
from whom, the whole body, fitly joined together, and compacted by the service of every joint, according to the energy, in the proportion of each particular part, effects the increase of the body, for the edification of itself in love.
17 Ezt mondom annakokáért és bizonyságot teszek az Úrban, hogy ti többé ne járjatok úgy, mint egyéb pogányok is járnak az ő elméjöknek hiábavalóságában,
This, therefore, I say, and testify in the Lord, that you walk no longer as the rest of the Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind;
18 Kik értelmökben meghomályosodtak, elidegenültek az isteni élettől a tudatlanság miatt, mely az ő szívök keménysége miatt van bennök;
having their understandings darkened; being alienated from the life of God, through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart;
19 Kik erkölcsi érzés nélkül, önmagukat a bujálkodásra adták, minden tisztátalanságnak nagy nyereséggel való cselekedésére.
who, being past feeling, have abandoned themselves to lasciviousness, to commit all uncleanness with greediness.
20 Ti pedig nem így tanultátok a Krisztust;
But you have not so learned Christ;
21 Ha ugyan Őt megértettétek és Ő benne megtaníttattatok, úgy a mint az igazság a Jézusban:
if, indeed, you have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus;
22 Hogy levetkezzétek ama régi élet szerint való ó embert, mely meg van romolva a csalárdság kívánságai miatt;
that, with respect to your former conduct, you put away the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;
23 Megújuljatok pedig a ti elméteknek lelke szerint,
that you be renewed in the spirit of your minds;
24 És felöltözzétek amaz új embert, mely Isten szerint teremtetett igazságban és valóságos szentségben.
and that you put on the new man; which, after God, is created in righteousness and true holiness.
25 Azért levetvén a hazugságot, szóljatok igazságot, kiki az ő felebarátjával: mert egymásnak tagjai vagyunk.
Wherefore, putting away lying, speak the truth every one to his neighbor: for we are members one of another.
26 Ám haragudjatok, de ne vétkezzetek: a nap le ne menjen a ti haragotokon;
Do not sin, through anger; let not the sun go down upon your wrath,
27 Se pedig az ördögnek ne adjatok helyet.
neither give an opportunity to the devil.
28 A ki oroz vala, többé ne orozzon; hanem inkább munkálkodjék, cselekedvén az ő kezeivel azt, a mi jó, hogy legyen mit adnia a szűkölködőnek.
Let him that stole, steal no more; but rather let him labor, working with his hands that which is good, that he may have to impart to him who has need.
29 Semmi rothadt beszéd a ti szátokból ki ne származzék, hanem csak a mely hasznos a szükséges építésre, hogy áldásos legyen a hallgatóknak.
Let no corrupt discourse come out of your mouth; but if any speech be good for the use of edification, speak it, that it may impart a benefit to the hearers.
30 És meg ne szomorítsátok az Istennek ama Szent Lelkét, a ki által megpecsételtettetek a teljes váltságnak napjára.
And grieve not the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you are sealed till the day of redemption.
31 Minden mérgesség és fölgerjedés és harag és lárma és káromkodás kivettessék közületek minden gonoszsággal együtt;
Let all bitterness, and anger, and wrath, and clamor, and detraction, be taken away from among you, with all malice.
32 Legyetek pedig egymáshoz jóságosak, irgalmasok, megengedvén egymásnak, miképen az Isten is a Krisztusban megengedett néktek.
But be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving each other, even as God, for Christ's sake, has forgiven you.
