2 Krónika 17
1 Uralkodék pedig ő helyette az ő fia, Jósafát, és megerősíté magát Izráel ellen.
And his son Jehoshaphat reigns in his stead, and he strengthens himself against Israel,
2 És sereget helyezett Júda minden erős városaiba, és őrségeket helyezett Júda országába és Efraim városaiba, a melyeket az ő atyja, Asa meghódított vala.
and puts a force in all the fortified cities of Judah, and puts garrisons in the land of Judah, and in the cities of Ephraim that his father Asa had captured.
3 És az Úr Jósafáttal vala, mivel az ő atyjának Dávidnak előbbi útain jára, és nem kére segítséget a bálványoktól,
And YHWH is with Jehoshaphat, for he has walked in the first ways of his father David, and has not sought for the Ba‘alim,
4 Hanem az ő atyjának Istenét kereste, és az ő parancsolatiban járt vala, és nem Izráelnek cselekedetei szerint.
for he has sought for the God of his father, and he has walked in His commands, and not according to the work of Israel.
5 Azért az Úr megerősíté a királyságot az ő kezében, és az egész Júda ada Jósafátnak ajándékot, s gazdagsága és dicsősége igen nagy volt.
And YHWH establishes the kingdom in his hand, and all Judah gives a present to Jehoshaphat, and he has riches and honor in abundance,
6 És az ő szíve felemelkedett az Úr útjain, és még jobban kiirtá Júdából a magaslatokat és az Aserákat.
and his heart is high in the ways of YHWH, and again he has turned aside the high places and the Asherim out of Judah.
7 Királyságának harmadik esztendejében elküldé az ő vezérei közül Benhailát, Obádiást, Zakariást, Nétanéelt és Mikáját, hogy tanítsanak a Júda városaiban,
And in the third year of his reign he has sent for his heads, for Ben-Hail, and for Obadiah, and for Zechariah, and for Nethaneel, and for Michaiah, to teach in cities of Judah;
8 És velök Lévitákat: Semája, Nétánia, Zebádia, Asáel, Semirámót, Jónatán, Adónia, Tóbiás és Tóbadónia Lévitákat, és velök Elisáma és Jórám papokat.
and with them the Levites: Shemaiah, and Nethaniah, and Zebadiah, and Asahel, and Shemiramoth, and Jonathan, and Adonijah, and Tobijath, and Tob-Adonijah—the Levites; and with them Elishama and Jehoram, the priests.
9 Tanítának azért Júdában, és az Úr törvényének könyve velök vala, mikor jártak vala Júda városaiban, tanítván a népet.
And they teach in Judah, and the Scroll of the Law of YHWH [is] with them, and they go around into all cities of Judah, and teach among the people.
10 Ezért az Úr igen megrettenté a földnek minden országait, a melyek Júda körül valának, annyira, hogy nem merének Jósafát ellen hadakozni.
And there is a fear of YHWH on all kingdoms of the lands that [are] around Judah, and they have not fought with Jehoshaphat;
11 A Filiszteusoktól is hoznak vala Jósafátnak ajándékot és adópénzt; az Arábiabeliek is hoznak néki nyájakat, hétezerhétszáz kost és hétezerhétszáz bakot.
and [some] from the Philistines are bringing a present to Jehoshaphat, and silver [as] tribute; also, the Arabians are bringing to him a flock of seven thousand and seven hundred rams, and seven thousand and seven hundred male goats.
12 És Jósafát mindig nagyobb és hatalmasabb lőn, és építe Júdában kastélyokat és tárházakat.
And Jehoshaphat is going on and becoming very great, and he builds palaces and cities of store in Judah,
13 És sok munkája vala néki Júda városaiban, és erős hadakozó férfiakból álló serege volt Jeruzsálemben.
and he has much work in cities of Judah; and men of war, mighty men of valor, [are] in Jerusalem.
14 Ez pedig azoknak száma nemzetségeik szerint: Júdában az ezredesek: Adna, a fővezér, és vele háromszázezer harczos.
And these [are] their numbers, for the house of their fathers—of Judah, heads of thousands: Adnah the head, and with him three hundred thousand mighty men of valor;
15 Mellette Johanán volt a vezér, és vele kétszáznyolczvanezer ember.
and at his hand [is] Jehohanan the head, and with him two hundred and eighty thousand;
16 Mellette Amásia, a Zikri fia, a ki magát szabadakaratjából az Úrnak kötelezte vala; és ő vele kétszázezer harczos.
and at his hand [is] Amasiah son of Zichri, who is willingly offering himself to YHWH, and with him two hundred thousand mighty men of valor.
17 A Benjámin nemzetségéből vitéz harczos vala Eljada, és vele a kézívesek és paizsosok kétszázezeren.
And of Benjamin, mighty men of valor: Eliada, and with him two hundred thousand armed with bow and shield;
18 Mellette Józabád, és vele száznyolczvanezeren harczra felszerelve.
and at his hand [is] Jehozabad, and with him one hundred and eighty thousand armed ones of the host.
19 Ezek szolgálnak vala a királynak azokon kivül, a kiket a király egész Júdában a megerősített városokba helyezett.
These [are] those serving the king, apart from those whom the king put in the fortress cities in all of Judah.
