1 Tesszalonika 3
1 Annakokáért, mivelhogy tovább már el nem tűrhetők, jónak ítélénk, hogy magunk maradjunk Athénében,
For this reason, enduring no longer, we thought good to be left in Athens alone,
2 És elküldöttük Timótheust, a mi atyánkfiát és Istennek szolgáját és munkatársunkat a Krisztus evangyéliomának hirdetésében, hogy erősítsen titeket és intsen titeket a ti hitetek felől;
and sent Timotheus—our brother, and a servant of God, and our fellow-workman in the good news of the Christ—to establish you, and to comfort you concerning your faith,
3 Hogy senki meg ne tántorodjék ama szorongattatások között; mert ti magatok tudjátok, hogy mi arra rendeltettünk.
that no one be moved in these tribulations, for you have known that we are set for this,
4 Mert mikor közöttetek valánk is, előre megmondtuk néktek, hogy szorongattatásnak leszünk kitéve; a mint meg is történt, és tudjátok.
for even when we were with you, we said to you beforehand that we are about to suffer tribulation, as it also came to pass, and you have known [it];
5 Annakokáért én is, mivelhogy tovább már nem tűrhetém, elküldék, hogy megismerjem a ti hiteteket, ha nem kísértett-é meg valami módon titeket a kísértő, és nem lett-é hiábavaló a mi fáradságunk?
because of this also, I, no longer enduring, sent to know your faith, lest he who is tempting tempted you, and our labor might be in vain.
6 Most pedig, a mikor megérkezett hozzánk Timótheus ti tőletek, és örömhírt hozott nékünk a ti hitetek és szeretetetek felől, és arról, hogy jó emlékezéssel vagytok irántunk, mindenkor kívánván látni minket, miképen mi is titeket;
And Timotheus now having come to us from you, and having declared good news to us of your faith and love, and that you always have a good remembrance of us, desiring much to see us, as we also [to see] you,
7 Ezáltal megvígasztalódtunk reátok nézve, atyámfiai, minden mi szorongattatásunk és szükségünk mellett is, a ti hitetek által:
because of this we were comforted, brothers, over you, in all our tribulation and necessity, through your faith,
8 Mert szinte megelevenedünk, ha ti erősek vagytok az Úrban.
because now we live, if you may stand fast in the LORD.
9 Mert milyen hálával is fizethetünk az Istennek ti érettetek, mindazért az örömért, a melylyel örvendezünk miattatok a mi Istenünk előtt?!
For what thanks are we able to repay to God for you, for all the joy with which we delight because of you in the presence of our God,
10 Mikor éjjel-nappal nagy buzgón esedezünk, hogy megláthassuk a ti orczátokat, és kipótolhassuk a ti hitetek hiányait.
exceedingly imploring night and day, that we might see your face, and perfect the things lacking in your faith?
11 Maga pedig az Isten és a mi Atyánk, és a mi Urunk a Jézus Krisztus egyengesse meg a mi útunkat ti hozzátok!
And our God and Father Himself, and our Lord Jesus Christ, direct our way to you,
12 Titeket pedig gyarapítson az Úr és tegyen bőségesekké az egymás iránt és mindenki iránt való szeretetben, a milyenek vagyunk mi is ti irántatok;
and the LORD cause you to increase and to abound in the love to one another, and to all, even as we also to you,
13 Hogy erősekké tegye a ti szíveteket, feddhetetlenekké a szentségben, a mi Istenünk és Atyánk előtt, a mikor eljő a mi Urunk Jézus Krisztus minden ő szenteivel egyetemben.
in order to have established your hearts, blameless in sanctification before our God and Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all His holy ones.
