Sofoniás 1
1 Az Örökkévaló igéje, mely lett Czefanjához, Kúsi fiához, a ki fia Gedaljának, Chizkíja fia; Amarja fiának, Jósijáhú, Ámón fia, Jehúda királyának napjaiban.
The word of the Lord, that was maad to Sofonye, sone of Chusi, sone of Godolie, sone of Amasie, sone of Ezechie, in the daies of Josie, the sone of Amon, king of Juda.
2 Elveszítve elveszitek; mindent a föld színéről, úgymond az Örökkévaló;
Y gaderinge schal gadere alle thingis fro the face of erthe, seith the Lord;
3 elveszítek embert és állatot, elveszítem az ég madarait és a tenger halait, és a botlás okait a gonoszokkal együtt; és kiirtom az embert a föld színéről, úgymond az Örökkévaló.
Y gaderynge man and beeste, Y gaderynge volatils of heuene, and fischis of the see; and fallyngis of vnpitouse men schulen be, and Y schal leese men fro face of erthe, seith the Lord.
4 Kinyújtom kezemet Jehúda ellen, meg mind a Jeruzsálem lakói ellen, s kiirtom ebből a helyből a Báal maradékát, a bálványpapok; nevét a papokkal együtt;
And Y schal stretche out myn hond on Juda, and on alle dwellers of Jerusalem; and Y schal lese fro this place the relifs of Baal, and the names of keperis of housis, with prestis;
5 meg azokat a kik leborulnak a háztetőkön az ég serege előtt, s a leborulókat, kik esküsznek; az Örökkévalóra, és a kik esküsznek Malkámra;
and hem that worschipen on roouys the knyythod of heuene, and worschipen, and sweren in the Lord, and sweren in Melchon;
6 és azokat, kik elhúzódnak az Örökkévaló mellől, és a kik nem keresték az Örökkévalót és nem kérdezték meg.
and whiche ben turned awei bihynde the bak of the Lord, and whiche `souyten not the Lord, nether enserchiden hym.
7 Csitt az Úr, az Örökkévaló előtt! Mert közel van az Örökkévaló napja; mert készített az Örökkévaló áldozást, szentelte meghívottjait.
Be ye stille fro the face of the Lord God, for niy is the dai of the Lord; for the Lord made redi a sacrifice, halewide hise clepid men.
8 És lészen az Örökkévaló áldozásának napján, megbüntetem a nagyokat meg a királyfiakat s mindazokat, kik idegen öltözékbe öltözködnek.
And it schal be, in the dai of sacrifice of the Lord, Y schal visite on princes, and on sones of the kyng, and on alle that ben clothid with pilgrimys, ether straunge, clothing.
9 És megbüntetem mind azt, a ki a küszöbön átugrik, ama napon, a kik megtöltik uruknak házát erőszakkal és csalással.
And Y schal visite on ech that proudli entrith on the threisfold in that dai, whiche fillen the hous of her Lord God with wickidnesse and gile.
10 És lészen ama napon, úgymond az Örökkévaló, hallik jajkiáltás a halak kapuja felől, és jajgatás a második városrész felől, és nagy romlás a halmokról.
And ther schal be in that dai, seith the Lord, a vois of cry fro the yate of fischis, and yellynge fro the secounde yate, and greet defoulyng fro litle hillis.
11 Jajgassatok ti lakói a Mozsárnak, mert megsemmisült az egész kanaáni nép, kiírtattak mind az ezüsttel terheltek.
Yelle ye, dwelleris of Pila; al the puple of Canaan was stille togidere, alle men wlappid in siluer perischiden.
12 És lészen amaz időben, átkutatom Jeruzsálemet mécsesekkel és megbüntetem azon férfiakat, kik ott merevednek seprűjükön, akik azt mondják szívükben: nem tesz jót az Örökkévaló, se nem rosszat:
And it schal be, in that tyme Y schal seke Jerusalem with lanternes, and Y schal visite on alle men piyt in her darstis, whiche seien in her hertis, The Lord schal not do wel, and he schal not do yuele.
13 hogy legyen vagyonuk kifosztásra, házaik pedig pusztulásra; építenek házakat, de nem lakják, ültetnek szőlőket, de nem isszák borukat.
And the strengthe of hem schal be in to rauyschyng, and the housis of hem in to desert; and thei schulen bilde housis, and schulen not enhabite; and thei schulen plaunte vyneyerdis, and thei schulen not drynke the wyn of hem.
14 Közel van az Örökkévalónak nagy napja, közel van és siet nagyon; hallga, az Örökkévaló napja: keservesen sikolt ott a hős.
Nyy is the greet dai of the Lord, niy and swift ful myche; the vois of the dai of the Lord is bittir, a strong man schal be in tribulacioun there.
15 Haragnak napja ama nap, szorítás és szorongatás napja, vihar és viharzás napja, sötétség és homály napja, felhőnek és sűrű ködnek napja!
`The ilke dai is a dai of wraththe, dai of tribulacioun and angwisch, dai of nedynesse and wretchidnesse, dai of derknessis and myist, dai of cloude and whirlewynd,
16 Harsona és riadás napja az erősített városok fölött és a magas ormok fölött.

17 És szorongatom az embereket, hogy járjanak mint a vakok, mert az Örökkévaló ellen vétkeztek, és majd ontatik a vérük mint a por, és húsuk, mint a ganéj.

18 Sem ezüstjök, sem aranyuk nem mentheti majd meg őket, az Örökkévaló haragjának napján – és buzgalmának tűzétől megemésztetik az egész föld. Mert végpusztítást, bizony rémületest visz véghez mind a föld lakóival.
