1 Megtorlásnak Istene, Örökkévaló, megtorlásnak Istene, jelenj meg!
A Psalm of David for the fourth [day] of the week. The Lord is a God of vengeance; the God of vengeance has declared himself.
2 Emelkedjél, birája a földnek, hárítsd vissza tettüket a gőgösökre.
Be you exalted, you that judge the earth: render a reward to the proud.
3 Meddig fognak a gonoszok, oh Orökkévaló, meddig fognak a gonoszok újjongani?
How long shall sinners, O Lord, how long shall sinners boast?
4 Bugyogtatnak, beszélnek daczosat, kérkednek mind a jogtalanságot cselekvők.
They will utter and speak unrighteousness; all the workers of iniquity will speak [so].
5 Népedet, Örökkévaló, zúzzák, és birtokodat sanyargatják;
They have afflicted your people, O Lord, and hurt your heritage.
6 özvegyet és jövevényt ölnek és árvákat gyilkolnak.
They have slain the widow and fatherless, and murdered the stranger.
7 S azt mondták Nem látja Jáh s nem ügyel rá Jákób Istene.
And they said, The Lord shall not see, neither shall the God of Jacob understand.
8 Ügyeljetek, ti oktalanok a nép közt, s ti balgák, mikor tértek észre?
Understand now, you simple among the people; and you fools, at length be wise.
9 Vajon a ki fület plántál, nem hall-e, avagy a ki szemet alkot, nem 1át-e?
He that planted the ear, does he not hear? or he that formed the eye, does not he perceive?
10 Vajon a ki nemzeteket fenyít, nem büntet-e, ő, ki az embert tudásra tanítja?
He that chastises the heathen, shall not he punish, [even] he that teaches man knowledge?
11 Az Örökkévaló tudja az ember gondolatait, hogy hiábavalóság azok.
The Lord knows the thoughts of men, that they are vain.
12 Boldog a férfi, kit megfenyítsz, Jáh, és tanodra taníted;
Blessed is the man whoever you shall chasten, O Lord, and shall teach him out of your law;
13 hogy nyugtot adj neki bajnak napjaitól, míg megásatik a gonosznak a verem.
to give him rest from evil days, until a pit be digged for the sinful one.
14 Mert nem veti el népét az Örökkévaló, s birtokát nem hagyja el.
For the Lord will not cast off his people, neither will he forsake his inheritance;
15 Mert igazsághoz tér vissza az ítélet, és utána mennek mind az egyenesszívüek.
until righteousness return to judgment, and all the upright in heart shall follow it. (Pause)
16 Ki támad mellém a gonosztevők ellen, ki áll oda mellém a jogtalanságot cselekvők ellen?
Who will rise up for me against the transgressors? or who will stand up with me against the workers of iniquity?
17 Hogyha nem volna az Örökkévaló segítségül nekem, kevés híján sír csendjében lakott volna a lelkem.
If the Lord had not helped me, my soul had almost sojourned in Hades.
18 Ha azt mondtam: megingott a lábam – szereteted, oh Örökkévaló támogat engem.
If I said, My foot has been moved;
19 Mikor sok a tépelődés én bennem, a te vigasztalásaid vidámítják föl lelkemet.
your mercy, O Lord, helped me. O Lord, according to the multitude of my griefs within my heart, your consolation have soothed my soul.
20 Vajon társul-e veled a veszedelmek trónja, az a ki bajt alkot a törvény ellenére?
Shall the throne of iniquity have fellowship with you, which frames mischief by an ordinance?
21 Összecsődülnek az igaznak lelke ellen, s az ártatlan vért kárhoztatják.
They will hunt for the soul of the righteous, and condemn innocent blood.
22 De nekem az Örökkévaló mentsvárul lett, és Istenem menedékem sziklájává;
But the Lord was my refuge; and my God the helper of my hope.
23 s visszahárította rájuk gazságukat s rosszaságukban megsemmisíti őket, megsemmisíti őket az Örökkévaló, a mi Istenünk.
And he will recompense to them their iniquity and their wickedness: the Lord our God shall utterly destroy them.
