Józsué 6
1 Jeríchó pedig elzárta magát s elzárva volt Izraél fiai előtt, nem ment ki s nem jött be senki.
Jericho's gates were shut and barred because of the Israelites. Nobody was allowed in or out.
2 És szólt az Örökkévaló Józsuához: Lásd, kezedbe adom Jeríchót és királyát, az erős vitézeket.
But the Lord told Joshua, “I'm handing over the city of Jericho to you, along with its king and its army of warriors.
3 Kerüljétek meg a várost, mind a harcosok, körüljárván a várost egyszer; így tégy hat napon át –
March around the city with your armed men once a day for six days.
4 s hét pap vigyen hét harsonát, kosszarvat, a láda előtt, a hetedik napon pedig hétszer kerüljétek meg a várost; s a papok fújják a harsonákat.
Seven priests are to go ahead of the Ark, each carrying a ram's horn. On the seventh day, march seven times around the city, with the priests blowing their rams' horns.
5 És lészen, midőn tartósan fújják a koskürtöt, midőn halljátok a harsona hangját, riadjon az egész nép nagy riadással; és akkor összedől a város fala a helyén, és felvonul a nép, ki-ki maga előtt.
When you hear a long blast on the rams' horns, everyone shall give a really loud shout. The city walls will collapse, and every man can go right in.”
6 És szólította Józsua, Nún fia, a papokat és mondta nekik: Vigyétek a szövetség ládáját; hét pap pedig vigyen hét harsonát, kosszarvat, az Örökkévaló ládája előtt.
So Joshua, son of Nun, sent for the priests, and told them, “Pick up the Ark of Agreement, and have seven priests carry seven rams' horns and go ahead of the Ark of the Lord.”
7 Erre szólt a néphez: Vonuljatok és kerüljétek meg a várost, a fegyveres csapat pedig vonuljon az Örökkévaló ládája előtt.
Then he told the people, “Move out! March around the city with the armed men up front ahead of the Ark of the Lord!”
8 És volt, amint szólt Józsua a néphez, a hét pap, vivén hét harsonát, kosszarvat, az Örökkévaló előtt, vonult és fújták a harsonákat, míg az Örökkévaló szövetségének ládája utánuk ment.
When Joshua finished speaking to the people, the seven priests carrying the seven rams' horns in the presence of the Lord started out, blowing the horns, with the Ark following behind.
9 S a fegyveres csapat ment a harsonákat fúvó papok előtt, míg az utócsapat a láda után ment, mentek és fújták a harsonákat.
Some of the armed men marched ahead of the priests blowing the horns, while some followed the Ark, the horns being blown continually.
10 A népnek pedig parancsolta Józsua, mondván: Ne riadjatok, ne hallassátok hangotokat és ne jöjjön ki szátokból egy szó sem azon napig, melyen mondom nektek: riadjatok, akkor riadjatok.
However, Joshua ordered them, “Don't shout, don't even talk. Don't say anything until I tell you all to shout—then shout!”
11 És megkerülte az Örökkévaló ládája a várost, körüljárván egyszer; erre bementek a táborba és megháltak a táborban.
So the Ark of the Lord was carried around the city, circling it once. Then they returned to the camp and spent the night there.
12 Fölkelt Józsua kora reggel, és vitték a papok az Örökkévaló ládáját.
Joshua got up early in the morning, and the priests picked up the Ark of the Lord.
13 S hét pap vitt hét harsonát, kosszarvat, az Örökkévaló ládája előtt, folyton menve és fújva a harsonákkal; a fegyveres csapat pedig előttük ment, míg az utócsapat az Örökkévaló ládája után ment: mentek és fújták a harsonákat.
The seven priests with the seven rams' horns went ahead of the Ark of the Lord, blowing the horns. The armed men went before them and behind the Ark of the Lord, the horns being blown continually.
14 És megkerülték a várost a második napon egyszer és visszatértek a táborba; így tettek hat napon át.
So on the second day they marched around the city, circling it once, and returned to the camp. They did this for a total of six days.
15 S volt a hetedik napon, fölkeltek a hajnal feljöttekor és megkerülték a várost ugyanezen rend szerint hétszer; csupán aznap kerülték meg a várost hétszer.
On the seventh day they got up at dawn and marched around the city in the usual way, except that this day they circled the city seven times.
16 És volt, hetedszer, fújták a papok a harsonákat; akkor így szólt Józsua a néphez: Riadjatok, mert nektek adta az Örökkévaló a várost.
The seventh time around when the priests blew the horns, Joshua told the people, “Shout! For today the Lord has given the city to you!
17 És legyen a város örökszentség, az meg mind ami benne van, az Örökkévalónak; csak Rácháb, a parázna nő, maradjon életben, ő és mindenki, aki vele van a házban, mivel elrejtette a követeket, kiket küldöttünk.
The city and everything in it is to be set apart for the Lord and destroyed. Only Rahab the prostitute and all those with her in her house shall be spared, because she hid the spies we sent.
18 Csakhogy ti óvjátok magatokat az örökszentségtől, nehogy, miután megszenteltétek, vegyetek az örökszentségből és tennétek Izraél táborát örökszentséggé és megzavarnátok azt.
But stay away from everything set apart for the Lord, for if you were to take anything you too would be liable to be destroyed, and you would also bring disaster on the camp of Israel.
19 S minden ezüst és arany, réz- és vasedények – szent az az Örökkévalónak: az Örökkévaló kincstárába jusson.
All the silver and the gold, and everything made of bronze and iron, are holy to the Lord and they must be placed in the Lord's treasury.”
20 És riadott a nép és fújták a harsonákat; és történt, amint meghallotta a nép a harsona hangját, riadott a nép nagy riadással, összedőlt a fal a helyén és felment a nép a városba, ki-ki maga előtt és így bevették a várost.
So as soon as they heard the sound of the horns, the people gave a loud shout, and the city walls collapsed. The men went in right away and captured the city.
21 És elpusztítottak mindent, mi a városban volt, férfitól asszonyig, ifjútól vénig, meg ökröt, juhot és szamarat a kard élével.
They destroyed everything in the city: men and women, young and old, cattle, sheep, and donkeys, all were killed by the sword.
22 Azon két embernek pedig, akik kikémlelték az országot, azt mondta Józsua: Menjetek be a parázna asszony házába és vezessétek ki onnan az asszonyt és mindenkit, aki az övé, amint megesküdtetek neki.
Joshua had told the two men who had gone to explore the land, “Go to the house of Rahab the prostitute and bring her out together with all her family, as you promised.”
23 És bementek az ifjak, a kémek, és kivezették Ráchábot, meg atyját és anyját, testvéreit és mindenkit, aki az övé, mind a családbelieit kivezették és ott hagyták Izraél táborán kívül.
So the spies went and brought out Rahab, her father and mother, and all who were with her. They brought out the whole family and took them to a place near the Israelite camp.
24 A várost pedig elégették tűzben és mindent, ami benne volt; csak az ezüstöt és aranyat, a réz- és vasedényeket adták az Örökkévaló házának kincstárába.
Then the Israelites burned down the city and everything in it, except for the silver and the gold, and everything made of bronze and iron, which they placed in the treasury of the Lord's house.
25 Ráchábot pedig, a parázna nőt, meg atyja házát és mindenkit, aki az övé, életben hagyta Józsua – és lakott Izráel között mind a mai napig – mivel elrejtette a követeket, kiket küldött Józsua, hogy Jeríchót kikémleljék.
Joshua spared Rahab the prostitute and her family because she hid the men Joshua had sent to spy out Jericho. And she lives among the Israelites to this day.
26 Esküt tett Józsua abban az időben, mondván: Átkozott a férfi az Örökkévaló színe előtt, aki fölkel és fölépíti ezt a várost, Jeríchót; elsőszülöttjével rakja le alapját, legifjabbikával állítsa föl kapuit.
At that time Joshua declared a curse, saying: “Cursed before the Lord is anyone who attempts to rebuild this city of Jericho. He lays its foundation at the cost of his firstborn son; he sets up its gates at the cost of his youngest son.”
27 És volt az Örökkévaló Józsuával, és híre volt az egész földön
So the Lord was with Joshua, and his fame spread throughout the land.
