Jób 42
1 És felelt Jób az Örökkévalónak és mondta:
Then Job answered Yahweh and said,
2 Tudom, hogy mindent tehetsz, s nem vonható meg tőled semmi szándék.
“I know that you can do all things, that no purpose of yours can be stopped.
3 Ki az, ki elburkolja a tanácsot tudás nélkül? – Azért hát olyat hirdettem, mit nem értek, olyakat, a mik csodásak nekem s nem tudom. -
'Who is this who without knowledge conceals plans?' Indeed, I have spoken things that I did not understand, things too difficult for me to understand, which I did not know about.
4 Halljad csak, majd beszélek én, hadd kérdelek, s te tudasd velem. –
You said to me, 'Listen, now, and I will speak; I will ask you things, and you will tell me.'
5 Fülhallás szerint hallottam rólad, de most szemem látott téged.
I had heard about you by my ear's hearing, but now my eye sees you.
6 Azért elvetem és megbánom, porban és hamuban.
So I despise myself; I repent in dust and ashes.”
7 És volt, miután elmondta az Örökkévaló e szavakat Jóbnak, szólt az Örökkévaló a Témánbeli Élífáhzhoz: Föllobbant haragom ellened és két barátod ellen, mert nem beszéltetek rólam helyeset, úgy mint szolgám Jób.
It came about that after he had said these words to Job, Yahweh said to Eliphaz the Temanite, “My wrath is kindled against you and against your two friends, for you have not spoken of me what is right, as my servant Job has done.
8 Most tehát vegyetek magatoknak hét tulkot és hét kost s menjetek szolgámhoz, Jóbhoz és hozzatok magatokért égőáldozatot; Jób szolgám pedig imádkozni fog értetek, mert csak az ő személyét tekintem, hogy valami csúfságot nem teszek veletek, mert nem beszéltetek rólam helyeset, úgy mint szolgám, Jób.
Now therefore, take for yourselves seven bulls and seven rams, go to my servant Job, and offer up for yourselves a burnt offering. My servant Job will pray for you, and I will accept his prayer, so that I may not deal with you after your folly. You have not said what is right about me, as my servant Job has done.”
9 És mentek a Témánbeli Élífáz, a Súachbeli Bildád és a Náamabeli Czófar és cselekedtek, a mint szólott hozzájok az Örökkévaló; és tekintettel volt az Örökkévaló Jób személyére.
So Eliphaz the Temanite, Bildad the Shuhite, and Zophar the Naamathite went and did as Yahweh had commanded them, and Yahweh accepted Job.
10 Az Örökkévaló pedig helyrehozta Jób veszteségét, midőn barátjaiért imádkozott; s megtoldotta az Örökkévaló mind azt, a mi Jóbé volt, kétszeresére.
When Job prayed for his friends, Yahweh restored his fortunes. Yahweh gave him twice as much as he had possessed before.
11 Eljöttek hozzá mind a fivérei és mind a nővérei és mind az előbbi ismerősei s ettek kenyeret vele az ő házában, szánakoztak rajta és megvigasztalták őt mind azon veszedelem miatt, a melyet reá hozott az Örökkévaló, és adtak neki ki-ki egy keszítát és ki-ki egy arany gyűrűt.
Then all Job's brothers, and all his sisters, and all who knew him before, came to him and ate food with him in his house. They showed him sympathy and comforted him for all the disasters that Yahweh had brought upon him, and each of them gave Job a piece of silver and a ring of gold.
12 S az Örökkévaló megáldotta Jób végét, inkább mint a kezdetét; és volt neki tizennégyezer juha, hatezer tevéje, ezer iga marhája és ezer nőstény szamara.
Yahweh blessed the final end of Job's life more than the first; he had fourteen thousand sheep, six thousand camels, one thousand yoke of oxen, and one thousand female donkeys.
13 S volt neki hét fia és három leánya.
He also had seven sons and three daughters.
14 És elnevezte az egyiket Jemímának, a másodiknak neve pedig Keczía és a harmadiknak neve Kéren-Happúkh.
He named the first daughter Jemimah, the second Keziah, and the third Keren-Happuch.
15 S nem találtattak oly szép nők, mint Jób leányai, az egész országban; s adott nekik atyjok birtokot fivéreik között.
In all the land no women were found as beautiful as Job's daughters. Their father gave them an inheritance along with their brothers.
16 És élt Jób ezután száznegyven esztendőt, és látta gyermekeit és gyermekeinek gyermekeit: négy nemzedéket.
After this, Job lived 140 years; he saw his sons and his sons' sons, up to four generations.
17 És meghalt Jób öregen és napokkal telten.
Then Job died, being old and full of days.
