Jób 40
1 És felelt az Örökkévaló Jóbnak és mondta:
Moreover, the LORD answered Job, and said,
2 Pörölni mer-e a Mindenhatóval a gáncsoló? Istennek a feddője feleljen rá!
Shall he that contendeth with the Almighty instruct [him]? he that reproveth God, let him answer it.
3 S felelt Jób az Örökkévalónak és mondta:
Then Job answered the LORD, and said,
4 Lám, csekély vagyok, mit válaszoljak neked? Szájamra tettem kezemet;
Behold, I am vile; what shall I answer thee? I will lay my hand upon my mouth.
5 egyet szóltam – nem felelhetek, kettőt, de nem teszem többé.
Once have I spoken; but I will not answer: yes, twice; but I will proceed no further.
6 S felelt az Örökkévaló Jóbnak a viharból és mondta:
Then the LORD answered Job out of the whirlwind, and said,
7 Övezd csak fel férfiként ágyékidat, hadd kérdelek s te tudasd velem.
Gird up thy loins now like a man: I will demand of thee, and declare thou to me.
8 Vajon ítéletemet bontod-e meg, kárhoztatsz engem, hogy neked legyen igazad?
Wilt thou also disannul my judgment? wilt thou condemn me, that thou mayest be righteous?
9 Hát van-e karod olyan mint Istené, és olyan hanggal. dörögsz-e mint ő?
Hast thou an arm like God? or canst thou thunder with a voice like his?
10 Ékesítsd csak magadat büszkeséggel és fenséggel, dicsőséget és díszt ölts fel!
Deck thyself now [with] majesty and excellence; and array thyself with glory and beauty.
11 Szórd szét haragod kitöréseit, s láss minden büszkét és alacsonyítsd le;
Cast abroad the rage of thy wrath: and behold every one [that is] proud, and abase him.
12 láss minden büszkét és alázd meg és zúzd össze a gonoszokat a maguk helyén;
Look on every one [that is] proud, [and] bring him low; and tread down the wicked in their place.
13 rejtsd el őket a porba egyaránt, kötözd le arczukat a rejtekbe:
Hide them in the dust together; bind their faces in secret.
14 akkor én is magasztallak téged, hogy tenjobbod segít neked.
Then will I also confess to thee that thy own right hand can save thee.
15 Íme csak a víziló, melyet alkottam, mint tégedet: füvet eszik mint a marha.
Behold now behemoth, which I made with thee; he eateth grass as an ox.
16 Íme csak, derekában van az ereje, és hatalma hasának izmaiban.
Lo now, his strength [is] in his loins, and his force [is] in the navel of his belly.
17 Mereszti farkát, akár a czédrus, czombjainak inai összefonódnak.
He moveth his tail like a cedar: the sinews of his male organs are wrapped together.
18 Csontjai érczcsatornák, tagjai akár a vasdorong.
His bones [are as] strong pieces of brass; his bones [are] like bars of iron.
19 Ő Isten útjainak eleje, a ki alkotta, oda nyújtotta kardját
He [is] the chief of the ways of God: he that made him can make his sword to approach [him].
20 Mert takarmányt a hegyek teremnek neki, s a mező minden vadja játszadozik ott.
Surely the mountains bring him forth food, where all the beasts of the field play.
21 Lótuscserjék alatt fekszik, nádnak és mocsárnak rejtekében.
He lieth under the shady trees, in the covert of the reed, and fens.
22 Befödik őt árnyékául lótus-cserjék, a patak fűzei körülveszik őt.
The shady trees cover him [with] their shadow; the willows of the brook encompass him.
23 Ha folyam szorongatja, nem ijed meg, bizakodik, midőn egy Jordán tör szájába.
Behold, he drinketh up a river, [and] hasteth not: he trusteth that he can draw up Jordan into his mouth.
24 Szemei láttára megfoghatni-e őt, tőrökkel átlyukasztva az orrát?
He taketh it with his eyes: [his] nose pierceth through snares.
