Jób 39
1 Ismered-e a kőszáli zergék ellésének idejét, a szarvasünőnek vajúdását megvigyázod-e;
KNOWEST thou the time when the wild goats of the rock bring forth? or canst thou mark when the hinds do calve?
2 számlálod-e a hónapokat, melyeket kitöltenek, s ismered-e ellésük idejét?
Canst thou number the months that they fulfil? or knowest thou the time when they bring forth?
3 Legörnyednek, kölykeiket világra hozzák, fájdalmaikat elbocsátják.
They bow themselves, they bring forth their young ones, they cast out their sorrows.
4 Fiaik erőre kapnak, felnövekednek a szabadban, kimennek és nem térnek vissza.
Their young ones are in good liking, they grow up with corn; they go forth, and return not unto them.
5 Ki bocsátotta szabadon a vadszamarat, s az erdei szamár köteleit ki oldotta meg?
Who hath sent out the wild ass free? or who hath loosed the bands of the wild ass?
6 Amelynek a sivatagot tettem házává, és lakásává a sós földet;
Whose house I have made the wilderness, and the barren land his dwellings.
7 nevet a városnak zaján, a hajtónak lármázását nem hallja;
He scorneth the multitude of the city, neither regardeth he the crying of the driver.
8 a mit a hegyeken kifürkészett, az legelője, s minden zöld után kutat.
The range of the mountains is his pasture, and he searcheth after every green thing.
9 Akarna-e a reém téged szolgálni, avagy meghál-e jászolodnál?
Will the unicorn be willing to serve thee, or abide by thy crib?
10 Odakötöd-e a reémet istrángjával a barázdához, vagy boronálja-e a völgyeket to utánad?
Canst thou bind the unicorn with his band in the furrow? or will he harrow the valleys after thee?
11 Bízhatsz-e benne, mert nagy az ereje, s ráhagyhatod-e szerzeményedet?
Wilt thou trust him, because his strength is great? or wilt thou leave thy labour to him?
12 Hiszel-e benne, hogy behordja vetésedet s begyűjti szérűdre?
Wilt thou believe him, that he will bring home thy seed, and gather it into thy barn?
13 A strucznak szárnya vígan csattog, vajon tolla jámbor-e, meg tollazata?
Gavest thou the goodly wings unto the peacocks? or wings and feathers unto the ostrich?
14 Mert a földnek hagyja tojásait és a poron melegíti,
Which leaveth her eggs in the earth, and warmeth them in dust,
15 s felejti, hogy a láb eltiporja s a mező vadja széttapossa;
And forgetteth that the foot may crush them, or that the wild beast may break them.
16 keménykedik fiókáival, mintha nem volnának övéi, hogy hiába a fáradalma, az nem a rettegése;
She is hardened against her young ones, as though they were not hers: her labour is in vain without fear;
17 mert Isten elfeledtette vele a bölcsséget, s nem adott neki részt az értelemben.
Because God hath deprived her of wisdom, neither hath he imparted to her understanding.
18 A midőn a magasba szökell, neveti a lovat és lovasát.
What time she lifteth up herself on high, she scorneth the horse and his rider.
19 Adsz-e a lónak erőt, öltesz-e nyakára sörényt?
Hast thou given the horse strength? hast thou clothed his neck with thunder?
20 Ugráltatod-e mint a sáskát?
Canst thou make him afraid as a grasshopper? the glory of his nostrils is terrible.
21 Fenséges tüsszögése – rettenet.
He paweth in the valley, and rejoiceth in his strength: he goeth on to meet the armed men.
22 Kémlelnek a síkon, akkor örvend erejében, kivonul a fegyver elébe; nevet a félelemnek, s nem retten meg s nem hátrál meg kard elől.
He mocketh at fear, and is not affrighted; neither turneth he back from the sword.
23 Fölötte zörög a tegez, villogó dárda és lándzsa;
The quiver rattleth against him, the glittering spear and the shield.
24 tombolva és háborogva habzsolja a földet, s nem marad helyén, a mikor hallik a harsona.
He swalloweth the ground with fierceness and rage: neither believeth he that it is the sound of the trumpet.
25 A mint hallik a harsona, azt mondja: Haj; messziről szimatolja a csatát, a vezérek dörgedelmét és a riadást.
He saith among the trumpets, Ha, ha; and he smelleth the battle afar off, the thunder of the captains, and the shouting.
26 A te értelmedből repül-e fel a karvaly s terjeszti szárnyait a délnek;
Doth the hawk fly by thy wisdom, and stretch her wings toward the south?
27 avagy parancsodra emelkedik-e a sas, midőn magasba rakja fészkét?
Doth the eagle mount up at thy command, and make her nest on high?
28 Sziklán lakik és honol, sziklának fokán és hegyi várban;
She dwelleth and abideth on the rock, upon the crag of the rock, and the strong place.
29 onnan kémlel eledelre, messzire tekintenek ki szemei:
From thence she seeketh the prey, and her eyes behold afar off.
30 fiókái pedig vért hörpölnek, s a hol holttetemek vannak, ott van ő.
Her young ones also suck up blood: and where the slain are, there is she.
