1 Mózes 26
1 És éhség volt az országban – az első éhségen – kívül, mely volt Ábrahám idejében – és elment Izsák Ávimelechhez, a filiszteusok királyához, Gerorba.
There was a famine in the land, in addition to the first famine that was in the days of Abraham. Isaac went to Abimelech king of the Philistines, to Gerar.
2 És megjelent neki az Örökkévaló és mondta! Ne menj le Egyiptomba, lakjál az országban, melyet mondok neked.
Yahweh appeared to him, and said, “Don’t go down into Egypt. Live in the land I will tell you about.
3 Tartózkodjál ebben az országban és én veled leszek és megáldalak téged, mert neked és magzatodnak fogom adni mindez országokat, hogy fönntartsam az esküt, mellyel megesküdtem Ábrahámak, a te atyádnak.
Live in this land, and I will be with you, and will bless you. For I will give to you, and to your offspring, all these lands, and I will establish the oath which I swore to Abraham your father.
4 És megsokasítom magzatodat, mint az ég csillagait és magzatodnak adom mindez országokat; és megáldják magukat magzatoddal a föld minden népei.
I will multiply your offspring as the stars of the sky, and will give all these lands to your offspring. In your offspring all the nations of the earth will be blessed,
5 Jutalmául annak, hogy hallgatott Ábrahám az én szavamra és megőrizte őrizetemet: parancsolataimat, törvényeimet és tanaimat.
because Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my requirements, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws.”
6 És lakott Izsák Gerorban.
Isaac lived in Gerar.
7 És kérdezték a helység lakói felesége felől és ő mondta: Nővérem ő; mert félt azt mondani: Feleségem – nehogy megöljenek a helység lakói Rebeka miatt, mivelhogy szép ábrázatú volt.
The men of the place asked him about his wife. He said, “She is my sister,” for he was afraid to say, “My wife”, lest, he thought, “the men of the place might kill me for Rebekah, because she is beautiful to look at.”
8 És történt, midőn hosszas ideig ott volt, kitekintett Avimelech, a filiszteusok királya az ablakon és látta, hogy íme Izsák enyeleg Rebekával, az ő feleségével.
When he had been there a long time, Abimelech king of the Philistines looked out at a window, and saw, and, behold, Isaac was caressing Rebekah, his wife.
9 És hivatta Ávimelech Izsákot és mondta: Íme, bizony feleséged ő és hogy mondtad, nővérem ő? És mondta neki Izsák: Mert azt gondoltam, talán meghalok miatta.
Abimelech called Isaac, and said, “Behold, surely she is your wife. Why did you say, ‘She is my sister’?” Isaac said to him, “Because I said, ‘Lest I die because of her.’”
10 És szólt Ávimelech: Mit tettél velünk? Kevésbe múlt, hogy elvette volna valaki a népből a te feleségedet és hoztál volna ránk bűnt.
Abimelech said, “What is this you have done to us? One of the people might easily have lain with your wife, and you would have brought guilt on us!”
11 És megparancsolta Ávimelech az egész népnek, mondván: Aki hozzányúl a férfiúhoz és az ő feleségéhez, ölessék meg.
Abimelech commanded all the people, saying, “He who touches this man or his wife will surely be put to death.”
12 És vetett Izsák abban az országban és elért abban az évben százszorost, mert megáldotta őt az Örökkévaló.
Isaac sowed in that land, and reaped in the same year one hundred times what he planted. Yahweh blessed him.
13 És a férfi nagy lett, folyvást nagyobb lett, míg igen nagy lett.
The man grew great, and grew more and more until he became very great.
14 És volt neki juhnyája és marhanyája, meg sok cselédsége; és irigykedtek rá a filiszteusok.
He had possessions of flocks, possessions of herds, and a great household. The Philistines envied him.
15 És mind a kutakat, melyeket ástak az ő atyjának szolgái, Ábrahámnak, az ő atyjának idejében, betömték a filiszteusok és megtöltötték azokat porral.
Now all the wells which his father’s servants had dug in the days of Abraham his father, the Philistines had stopped, and filled with earth.
16 És mondta Ávimelech Izsáknak: Menj el tőlünk, mert sokkal hatalmasabb lettél nálunknál.
Abimelech said to Isaac, “Go away from us, for you are much mightier than we.”
17 És elment onnan Izsák és táborozott Geror völgyében és ott lakott.
Isaac departed from there, encamped in the valley of Gerar, and lived there.
18 Izsák pedig újra felásta azon kutakat, melyeket ástak Ábrahámnak, az ő atyjának idejében, de amelyeket betömtek a filiszteusok Ábrahám halála után; és elnevezte azokat azon nevekkel, amely nevekkel nevezte azokat az ő atyja.
Isaac dug again the wells of water, which they had dug in the days of Abraham his father, for the Philistines had stopped them after the death of Abraham. He called their names after the names by which his father had called them.
19 És ástak Izsák szolgái a völgyben és találtak ott kutat élő vízzel.
Isaac’s servants dug in the valley, and found there a well of flowing water.
20 És perlekedtek Geror pásztorai Izsák pásztoraival, mondván: Miénk a víz; és elnevezte a kutat Észeknek (civakodás), mert civakodtak vele.
The herdsmen of Gerar argued with Isaac’s herdsmen, saying, “The water is ours.” So he called the name of the well Esek, because they contended with him.
21 És ástak másik kutat és amiatt is pörlekedtek; és elnevezte Szitnónak (ellenkezés).
They dug another well, and they argued over that, also. So he called its name Sitnah.
22 És tovament onnan és ásott másik kutat, amiatt nem pörlekedtek; és elnevezte azt Rechóvósznak (tágasság), mert azt mondta: Most tág teret szerzett az Örökkévaló nekünk, hogy szaporodjunk az országban.
He left that place, and dug another well. They didn’t argue over that one. So he called it Rehoboth. He said, “For now Yahweh has made room for us, and we will be fruitful in the land.”
23 Onnan pedig fölment Beér-Sevába.
He went up from there to Beersheba.
24 És megjelent neki az Örökkévaló amaz éjjel mondta: Én vagyok Ábrahámnak, a te atyádnak Istene ne félj, mert veled vagyok én, megáldalak és megsokasítom magzatodat Ábrahám, az én szolgám kedvéért.
Yahweh appeared to him the same night, and said, “I am the God of Abraham your father. Don’t be afraid, for I am with you, and will bless you, and multiply your offspring for my servant Abraham’s sake.”
25 És épített ott oltárt és hívta az Örökkévaló nevét, fölütötte ott sátrát és ástak ott Izsák szolgái kutat.
He built an altar there, and called on Yahweh’s name, and pitched his tent there. There Isaac’s servants dug a well.
26 Ávimelech pedig elment hozzá Gerorból és Áchuzzász, az ő barátja, meg Fichól, az ő hadvezére.
Then Abimelech went to him from Gerar with Ahuzzath his friend, and Phicol the captain of his army.
27 És mondta nekik Izsák: Miért jöttetek hozzám, hisz ti gyűlöltetek engem és elküldtetek magatoktól.
Isaac said to them, “Why have you come to me, since you hate me, and have sent me away from you?”
28 És ők mondták: Szemlátomást láttuk, hogy az Örökkévaló veled volt és azt mondtuk, legyen csak eskü köztünk, köztünk és közted és kössünk szövetséget veled,
They said, “We saw plainly that Yahweh was with you. We said, ‘Let there now be an oath between us, even between us and you, and let’s make a covenant with you,
29 hogy nem teszel velünk rosszat, amint mi nem nyúltunk hozzád és amint mi csak jót tettünk veled és elbocsátottunk békében. Te most az Örökkévaló áldottja vagy!
that you will do us no harm, as we have not touched you, and as we have done to you nothing but good, and have sent you away in peace.’ You are now the blessed of Yahweh.”
30 És készített nekik lakomát, ők ettek és ittak.
He made them a feast, and they ate and drank.
31 Fölkeltek kora reggel és megesküdtek egymásnak; és elbocsátotta őket Izsák, ők pedig elmentek tőle békében.
They rose up some time in the morning, and swore an oath to one another. Isaac sent them away, and they departed from him in peace.
32 És történt azon a napon, hogy jöttek Izsák szolgái és tudtára adták a kút ügyét, amelyet ástak és mondták neki: Találtunk vizet.
The same day, Isaac’s servants came, and told him concerning the well which they had dug, and said to him, “We have found water.”
33 És elnevezte azt Siveónak, azért a város neve Beér-Sevá mind a napig.
He called it “Shibah”. Therefore the name of the city is “Beersheba” to this day.
34 És Ézsau negyven éves volt, midőn feleségül vette Jehúdiszt, Beérinek, a chittinek leányát és Boszmászt, Élónnak, a chittinek leányát.
When Esau was forty years old, he took as wife Judith, the daughter of Beeri the Hittite, and Basemath, the daughter of Elon the Hittite.
35 És ők lettek lelki keserűsége Izsáknak és Rebekának.
They grieved Isaac’s and Rebekah’s spirits.
