1 Mózes 11
1 És volt az egész föld egy nyelvű és egyforma beszédű.
The whole earth was of one language and of one speech.
2 És történt, midőn elvonultak keletről, találtak egy völgyet Sineor országában és letelepedtek ott.
It happened, as they traveled from the east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar, and they settled there.
3 És mondta egyik a másiknak: Nosza! vessünk téglát és égessük azt égetett téglává; és lett számukra a tégla kő gyanánt és a gyanta volt számukra vakolat gyanánt.
And they said to one another, "Come, let us make bricks, and burn them thoroughly." They had brick for stone, and they used tar for mortar.
4 És mondták: Nosza! építsünk magunknak várost és tornyot, csúcsa az eget érje, hogy szerezzünk magunknak nevet, hogy el ne széledjünk az egész föld színén.
They said, "Come, let us build ourselves a city, and a tower whose top reaches to the sky, and let us make ourselves a name, lest we be scattered abroad on the surface of the whole earth."
5 És leszállott az Örökkévaló, hogy megnézze a várost és a tornyot, melyet építettek az ember fiai.
And God came down to see the city and the tower, that humankind was building.
6 És mondta az Örökkévaló: Íme, egy nép és egy nyelve van mindnyájuknak s ez az, amit ők tenni kezdtek és most nem lesz megvonható tőlük semmi, amit tenni szándékoznak.
And God said, "Look, they are one people, and they all have one language, and this is what they begin to do. So now nothing which they plan to do will be too difficult for them.
7 Nosza! szálljunk le és zavarjuk el legott nyelvüket, hogy ne értse meg egyik a másik nyelvét.
Come, let us go down, and there confuse their language, that they may not understand one another's speech."
8 És elszórta őket onnan az Örökkévaló az egész föld színére és abbahagyták a város építését.
Then God scattered them abroad from there on the surface of all the earth; so they ceased building the city.
9 Azért nevezték Bábelnek, mert ott zavarta meg az Örökkévaló az egész föld nyelvét és onnan szórta el őket az Örökkévaló az egész föld színére.
Therefore its name was called Babel, because there God confused the language of all the earth. From there he scattered them over the face of the whole earth.
10 Ezek nemzetségei Sémnek; Sém száz éves volt, midőn nemzette Árpáchsodot, két évvel az özönvíz után.
These are the generations of Shem. Shem was one hundred years old and became the father of Arpachshad two years after the flood.
11 És élt Sém, miután Árpáchsodot nemzette, ötszáz évet; és nemzett fiakat meg lányokat.
Shem lived five hundred years after he became the father of Arpachshad, and fathered sons and daughters.
12 Árpáchsod pedig élt harmincöt évet, és nemzette Seláchot.
And Arpachshad lived one hundred and thirty-five years and became the father of Kenan.
13 És élt Árpáchsod, miután Seláchot nemzette négyszázhárom évet és nemzett fiakat meg lányokat.
And Arpachshad lived four hundred and thirty years after he became the father of Kenan, and fathered sons and daughters. And Kenan lived one hundred and thirty years and became the father of Shelah. And Kenan lived three hundred and thirty years after he had become the father of Shelah, and fathered sons and daughters.
14 Sélách pedig élt harminc évet, midőn nemzette Évert.
Shelah lived one hundred and thirty years, and became the father of Eber:
15 És élt Selách, miután Évert nemzette, négyszázhárom évet; és nemzett fiakat meg lányokat.
and Shelah lived four hundred and three years after he became the father of Eber, and fathered sons and daughters.
16 Éver pedig élt harmincnégy évet, midőn nemzette Peleget.
Eber lived one hundred and thirty-four years, and became the father of Peleg.
17 És élt Éver, miután Peleget nemzette, négyszázharminc évet; és nemzett fiakat meg lányokat.
Eber lived three hundred and seventy years after he became the father of Peleg, and fathered sons and daughters.
18 Peleg pedig élt harminc évet, midőn nemzette Reút.
Peleg lived one hundred and thirty years, and became the father of Reu.
19 És élt Peleg, miután Reút nemzette, kétszázkilenc évet; és nemzett fiakat meg lányokat.
Peleg lived two hundred and nine years after he became the father of Reu, and fathered sons and daughters.
20 Reú pedig élt harminckét évet, midőn nemzette Szerúgot.
Reu lived one hundred and thirty-two years, and became the father of Serug.
21 És élt Reú, miután Szerúgot nemzette, kétszázhét évet; és nemzett fiakat meg lányokat.
Reu lived two hundred and seven years after he became the father of Serug, and fathered sons and daughters.
22 Szerúg pedig élt harminc évet és nemzette Nóchórt.
Serug lived one hundred and thirty years, and became the father of Nahor.
23 És élt Szerúg, miután Nóchórt nemzette, kétszáz évet; és nemzett fiakat meg lányokat.
Serug lived two hundred years after he became the father of Nahor, and fathered sons and daughters.
24 Nóchór pedig élt huszonkilenc évet, midőn nemzette Teráchot.
Nahor lived seventy-nine years, and became the father of Terah.
25 És élt Nóchór, miután Teráchot nemzette, száztizenkilenc évet; és nemzett fiakat meg lányokat.
Nahor lived one hundred and twenty-nine years after he became the father of Terah, and fathered sons and daughters.
26 Terách pedig élt hetven évet, midőn nemzette Ávromot, Nóchórt és Hóront.
Terah lived seventy years, and became the father of Abram, Nahor, and Haran.
27 És ezek nemzetségei Teráchnak; Terách nemzette Ávromot, Nóchórt és Hóront. És Hóron nemzette Lótot.
Now these are the generations of Terah. Terah became the father of Abram, Nahor, and Haran. And Haran became the father of Lot.
28 De Hóron meghalt Teráchnak, az ő atyjának színe előtt, szülőföldjén, Ur-Kászdimban.
And Haran died before his father Terah in the land of his birth, in Ur Kasdim.
29 Ávrom pedig és Nóchór vettek maguknak feleséget: Ávrom feleségének neve: Szóráj és Nóchór feleségének neve Milkó, Hóron leánya, aki atyja volt Milkónak és atyja Jiszkónak.
And Abram and Nahor took wives. The name of Abram's wife was Sarai, and the name of Nahor's wife, Milcah, the daughter of Haran who was also the father of Iscah.
30 Szóráj azonban magtalan volt, nem volt neki gyermeke.
And Sarai was barren. She had no child.
31 És vette Terách Ávromot, az ő fiát, és Lótot, Chóron fiát, az ő unokáját és Szórájt, az ő menyét, az ő fiának, Ávromnak feleségét és elmentek velük UrKászdimból, hogy menjenek Kánaán országába; elérkeztek Chóronig és letelepedtek ott.
And Terah took Abram his son, Lot the son of Haran, his grandson, and Sarai his daughter-in-law, his son Abram's wife, and with them he set out from Ur Kasdim to go into the land of Canaan. But when they came to Haran, they settled there.
32 Voltak pedig Terách napjai kétszázöt év; és meghalt Terách Chóronban.
And the days of Terah were two hundred and five years. And Terah died in Haran.
