Ezsdrás 10

1 És midőn Ezra imádkozott s vallomást tett, sírva s arczra borulva az Isten háza előtt, gyülekezett hozzá Izraélből igen nagy gyülekezet: férfiak, nők s gyermekek, mert sírt a nép sokat sírva.

Now, when Ezra had prayed and when he had made confession, weeping and casting himself down, before the house of God, there gathered unto him out of Israel, an exceeding large convocation—men and women and children, for the people wept with a very bitter weeping.

2 Ekkor megszólalt, Sekhanja, Jechíél fia, Élám fiai közül s mondta Ezrának: Mi hűtlenkedtünk Istenünk ellen, s idegen nőket vettünk magunknak az ország népeiből, de most van remény Izraél számára ez iránt.

Then responded Shecaniah son of Jehiel of the sons of Elam, and said unto Ezra, We, have been faithful with our God, and have married foreign women from among the peoples of the land, —yet, now, there is hope for Israel concerning this thing.

3 S most kössünk szövetséget a mi Istenünkkel, hogy el fogjuk távolítani mind az asszonyokat s a tőlük szülötteket, határozata szerint az Urnak s azoknak, a kik remegnek Istenünk parancsolatára; s a tan szerint tétessék.

Now, therefore, let us solemnize a covenant unto our God—to put away all the women and such as have been born of them, in the counsel of my lord, and them who tremble at the commandment of our God, —and, according to the law, let it be done.

4 Kelj fel, mert téged illet a dolog, mi pedig veled vagyunk, légy erős és tégy.

Arise, for, upon thee, resteth the thing, but, we, are with thee, —be strong, and act.

5 Erre fölkelt Ezra és megeskette a papoknak, a levitáknak s egész Izraélnek nagyjait, hogy e szerint fognak cselekedni; és megesküdtek.

Then arose Ezra and made the rulers of the priests, the Levites, and all Israel, swear to do according to this word—and they sware.

6 És fölkelt Ezra az Istennek háza elől s elment Jehóchánánnak, Eljásib fiának kamarájába; elment oda, kenyeret nem evett s vizet nem ivott, mert gyászol vala a számkivetés hűtelensége miatt.

Then arose Ezra from before the house of God, and went into the chamber of Jehohanan son of Eliashib, —and, when he came thither, bread, did he not eat, and, water, did he not drink, for he was mourning over the unfaithfulness of them of the Exile.

7 És hírt vittek szét; Jehúdában és Jeruzsálemben mind a számkivetés fiaihoz, hogy gyülekezzenek Jeruzsálembe:

Then made they a proclamation throughout Judah and Jerusalem, unto all the Sons of the Exile, to gather themselves together unto Jerusalem;

8 és mindenki, a ki el nem jön három nap alatt a nagyok és vének határozata szerint, átokká tétessék egész jószága, ő pedig elkülöníttessék a számkivetés gyülekezetéből.

and, whosoever should not come within three days, according to the counsel of the rulers and the elders, all his goods should be devoted, —and, himself, be separated from the convocation of them of the Exile.

9 És gyülekeztek mind a Jehúda s Benjámin emberei Jeruzsálembe három nap alatt, még pedig a kilenczedik hónapban, a hónap huszadikán; és leült az egész nép az Isten háza előtti téren, reszketve a dolog miatt s az esőzésektől.

Then were gathered together all the men of Judah and Benjamin unto Jerusalem, within three days, the same, was the ninth month, on the twentieth of the month, —and all the people remained in the broadway of the house of God, trembling concerning the thing, and because of the heavy rains.

10 És fölkelt Ezra a pap és szólt hozzájuk: Ti hűtlenkedtetek és vettetek magatoknak idegen nőket, hozzátéve Izraél bűnösségéhez.

Then arose Ezra the priest, and said unto them, Ye, have acted unfaithfully, and have married foreign women, —to add unto the guilt of Israel.

11 És most tegyetek vallomást az Örökkévalónak, őseitek Istenének s tegyétek meg az ő akaratját s különödjetek el az ország népeitől s az idegen nőktől.

Now, therefore, make confession unto Yahweh God of your fathers, and do his pleasure, —and separate yourselves from the peoples of the land, and from the foreign women.

12 És felelt az egész gyülekezet s mondták fenhangon: Úgy van, szavad szerint kell nekünk cselekednünk;

Then responded all the convocation and said, with a loud voice, —Thus, according to thy word concerning us, must it be done.

13 azonban a nép számos s az idő esőzésnek ideje s nincs erő künn állani, a munka pedig nem egy napra s nem kettőre való, mert sokat vétkeztünk a dologban.

Nevertheless, the people, are many, and, the season, is that of the heavy rains, and we are not able to stand outside, —and, the business, is not one for a single day, nor yet for two, for we have abundantly transgressed, in this thing.

14 Álljanak csak elő a mi nagyjaink az egész gyülekezet részére, s mindenki, a ki városainkban van, a ki idegen nőt vett magának, jőjjön el a meghatározott idő szerint s velük mindegyik városnak vénei s birái, míg el nem hárítottuk magunkról Istenünk föllobbant haragját a dolog iránt.

Let, we beseech thee, our rulers take up their station for all the convocation, and, all who, throughout our cities, have married foreign women, let them come in at times appointed, and, with them, the elders of every city, and the judges thereof, until the glow of the anger of our God be turned from us, concerning this matter.

15 Csak Jónátán, Aszáél fia, s Jachzeja, Tikva fia, állottak ellene ennek, és Mesullám és Sabbetáj, a levita támogatták őket.

Only Jonathan son of Asahel and Jahzeiah son of Tikvah, made a stand against this, —and, Meshullam and Shabbethai the Levite, helped them.

16 És cselekedtek ekképen a számkivetés fiai, és kiszemeltettek Ezra a pap meg férfiak, az atyai házak fejei atyai házaik szerint a mindannyian nevükkel; és leültek a tizedik hónap első napján, hogy megvizsgálják a dolgot.

But the Sons of the Exile, did thus, and Ezra the priest separated to himself certain men—ancestral heads by their ancestral houses, and all of them by name, —and they took their seats on the first day of the tenth month to search into the matter;

17 És végeztek mind a férfiakkal, a kik idegen nőket vettek maguknak az első hónap első napjáig.

and they made an end with all the men who had married foreign women, —by the first day of the first month.

18 És találtattak a papok fiai közül, a kik idegen nőket vettek maguknak: Jésúának, Jóczádák fiának s testvéreinek fiai közül: Máaszéja, Eliézer, Járib és Gedalja.

Now there were found, of the sons of the priests, who had married foreign women, —of the sons of Jeshua son of Jozadak, and his brethren, Maaseiah, and Eliezer, and Jarib, and Gedaliah;

19 És adták kezüket, hogy eltávolítják nejeiket s bűnáldozatot hoznak, egy kost bűnükért.

and they gave their hand, that they would put away their wives, —and, being guilty, [they offered] a ram of the flock for their guilt.

20 És Immér fiai közül: Chanáni s Zebadja.

And, of the sons of Immer, Hanani, and Zebadiah.

21 És Chárim fiai közül: Máaszeja, Élija, Semája, Jechíél és Uzzija.

And, of the sons of Harim, Maaseiah and Elijah and Shemaiah, and Jehiel, and Uzziah.

22 És Paschúr fiai közül: Eljóénáj, Máaszeja, Jismaél, Netanél, Józábád és Eleásza.

And, of the sons of Passhur, Elioenai, Maaseiah, Ishmael, Nethanel, Jozabad, and Elasar.

23 És a leviták közül: Józábád. Simei, Kélája, azaz Kelíta, Petachja, Jehúda és Eliézer.

And, of the Levites, Jozabad and Shimei, and Kelaiah, the same, is Kelita, Pethahiah, Judah, and Eliezer.

24 És az énekesek közül: Eljásib. És a kapuőrök közül Sallúm, Télem és Úri.

And, of the singers, Eliashib. And, of the doorkeepers, Shallum and Telem and Uri.

25 És az izraéliták közül: Pareós fiai közül: Ramja, Jizzija, Malkija, Mijjámin, Eleázár, Malkija és Benája.

And, of Israel, of the sons of Parosh, Ramiah and Izziah and Malchijah and Mijamin and Eleazar, and Malchijah, and Benaiah.

26 És Élám fiai közül: Mattanja, Zekharja, Jechíél, Abdi, Jerémót és Élija.

And, of the sons of Elam, Mattaniah, Zechariah, and Jehiel and Abdi, and Jeremoth, and Elijah.

27 És Zattú fiai közül: Eljóénaj, Eljásib, Mattanja, Jerémót, Zábád és Aziza.

And, of the sons of Zattu, Elioenai, Eliashib, Mattaniah and Jeremoth, and Zabad, and Aziza.

28 És Bébáj fiai közül: Jehóchánán, Chananja, Zabbáj, Atláj.

And, of the sons of Bebai, Jehohanan, Hananiah, Zabbai, Athlai.

29 És Báni fiai közül: Mesullám, Mallúk, Adája, Jásúb, Seál és Rámót.

And, of the sons of Bani, Meshullam, Malluch, and Adaiah, Jashub, and Sheal, Jeremoth.

30 És Páchat-Móáb fiai közül: Adná, Kelál, Benája, Máaszéja, Mattanja, Beczálél s Binnúj és Menasse.

And, of the sons of Pahath-moab, Adna and Chelal, —Benaiah, Maaseiah, Mattaniah, Bezalel, and Binnui, and Manasseh.

31 És Chárim fiai közül: Eliézer, Jissija, Malkija, Semája, Simeón;

And, [of] the sons of Harim, Eliezer, Isshijah, Malchijah, Shemaiah, Shimeon;

32 Benjámin, Mallúk, Semarja.

Benjamin, Malluch, Shemariah.

33 Chásúm fiai közül: Mattenáj, Mattátta, Zábád, Elífélet, Jerémáj, Menasse, Simei.

Of the sons of Hashum, Mattenai, Mattattah, Zabad, Eliphelet, —Jeremai, Manasseh, Shimei.

34 Báni fiai közül: Máadáj, Amrám és Úél;

Of the sons of Bani, Maadai, Amram, and Uel;

35 Benája, Bédja, Kelúhú;

Benaiah, Bedeiah, Cheluhu;

36 Vanja, Merémót, Eljásib;

Vaniah, Meremoth, Eliashib;

37 Mattanja, Mattenáj és Jáaszáj;

Mettaniah, Mattenai, and Jaasu;

38 Báni, Binnuj, Simei;

and Bani, and Binnui, Shimei;

39 és Selemja, Nátán s Adája;

and Shelemiah, and Nathan, and Adaiah;

40 Maknadbáj, Sásaj, Sáraj;

Machnadebai, Shashai, Sharai;

41 Azarél, Selemjáhú, Semarja;

Azarel, and Shelemiah, Shemariah;

42 Sallúm, Amarja, József.

Shallum, Amariah, Joseph.

43 Nebó fiai közül: Jeíél, Mattitja, Zábád, Zebína, Jaddáj, Jóél, Benája.

Of the sons of Nebo, Jeiel, Mattithiah, Zabad, Zebina, —Iddo, and Joel, Benaiah.

44 Mindezek elvettek idegen nőket s voltak közülük, kiknek a nőktől gyermekeik voltak.

All these, had taken foreign women, —and had begotten of them children.
