1 És gondolj teremtődre ifjúságod napjaiban, a mig el nem jőnek a bajnak napjai és el nem érkeznek az évek, melyekről azt mondod: nem telik bennük kedvem;
and to remember [obj] to create you in/on/with day youth your till which not to come (in): come day [the] distress: evil and to touch year which to say nothing to/for me in/on/with them pleasure
2 a mig el nem sötétül a nap s a világosság, meg a hold és a csillagok, és viaszatérnek a felhők az eső után;
till which not to darken [the] sun and [the] light and [the] moon and [the] star and to return: return [the] cloud after [the] rain
3 azon napon, midőn meginognak a háznak őrzői és meggörbűlnek a vitéz férfiak és szünetelnek az őrlőnők, mert megfogytak, és elsötétűlnek az ablakokon kitekintők.
in/on/with day which/that to tremble to keep: guard [the] house: home and to pervert human [the] strength and to cease [the] to grind for to diminish and to darken [the] to see: see in/on/with window
4 És elzáratnak az ajtók az utczán, midőn alászáll a malom hangja és fölkel az ember a madár hangjára és halkká válnak mind az ének leányai;
and to shut door in/on/with street in/on/with to abase voice: sound [the] mill and to arise: rise to/for voice: sound [the] bird and to bow all daughter [the] song
5 a magastól is félnek, s ijedelmek vannak az úton; s kivirúl a mandolafa és vánszorog a sáska és hasztalannak bizonyúl a kapor; mert elmegy az ember az ő örök házába és körűljárnak az utczán a gyásztartók.

6 Míg el nem szakad az ezűst kötél és szétzúzódik az arany csésze és eltörik a korsó a forrásnál és összezúzatik a kerék, be a gödörbe;
till which not (to bind *Q(K)*) cord [the] silver: money and to crush bowl [the] gold and to break jar upon [the] spring and to crush [the] wheel to(wards) [the] pit
7 és visszatér a por a földbe, a mint volt azelőtt, és a szellem visszatér Istenhez, a ki adta.
and to return: return [the] dust upon [the] land: soil like/as which/that to be and [the] spirit to return: return to(wards) [the] God which to give: give her
8 Hiúságok hiúsága, mondja Kóhélet, minden hiúság.
vanity vanity to say [the] preacher [the] all vanity
9 Azonfelűl, hogy Kóhélet bölcs volt, még tanította a népet megismerésre, és fontolgatott és vizsgálódott, sok példabeszédet szerzett.
and advantage which/that to be preacher wise still to learn: teach knowledge [obj] [the] people and to ponder and to search be straight proverb to multiply
10 Törekedett Kóhélet értékes szavakat találni és a helyességgel irottat: igaz szavakat.

11 A bölcsek szavai olyanok, mint az ösztökék és mint a bevert szögek a gyülekezetben levőkéi: egy pásztortól adattak.
word wise like/as goad and like/as nail to plant master: [master of] collection to give: give from to pasture one
12 És amazokon felül, fiam, óvakodjál! A sok könyvcsinálásnak nincsen vége, és a sok tanúlás testnek kifárasztása.

13 A dolognak végén az egész így értendő: Az Istent féljed és parancsolatait őrizd meg, mert ez az egész ember.
