1 Sámuel 7
1 S eljöttek Kirját – Jeárim emberei és fölvitték az Örökkévaló ládáját és bevitték azt Abínádáb házába a dombon; Eleázárt, a fiát pedig fölszentelték, hogy őrizze az Örökkévaló ládáját.
The men of Kiriath Jearim came and took up the ark of the LORD and brought it into the house of Abinadab, which was on the hill, and sanctified Eleazar his son to keep the ark of the LORD.
2 És volt azon nap óta, melyen a láda Kirját-Jeárimban állt, eltelt sok idő – volt ugyanis húsz esztendő – akkor vágyakozott Izrael egész háza az Örökkévaló után.
It happened, from the day that the ark stayed in Kiriath Jearim, that the time was long; for it was twenty years: and all the house of Israel lamented after the LORD.
3 És szólt Sámuel Izrael egész házához, mondván: Ha egész szívetekkel akartok visszatérni az Örökkévalóhoz, távolítsátok el az idegen isteneket közületek meg az Astóreteket; szilárdítsátok meg szíveteket megtérve az Örökkévalóhoz és őt szolgáljátok egyedül, hogy megmentsen titeket a filiszteusok kezéből.
Samuel spoke to all the house of Israel, saying, "If you do return to the LORD with all your heart, then put away the foreign gods and the Ashtaroth from among you, and direct your hearts to the LORD, and serve him only; and he will deliver you out of the hand of the Philistines."
4 S eltávolították Izrael fiai a Báalokat és az Astóreteket és szolgálták az Örökkévalót egyedül.
Then the children of Israel removed the Baals and the Ashtaroth, and served the LORD only.
5 És mondta Sámuel: Gyűjtsétek össze egész Izraelt Micpába, s majd imádkozom értetek az Örökkévalóhoz.
Samuel said, "Gather all Israel to Mizpah, and I will pray for you to the LORD."
6 Összegyűltek tehát Miczpába, merítettek vizet és kiöntötték az Örökkévaló színe előtt, böjtöltek ama napon és mondták ott: Vétkeztünk az Örökkévaló ellen! És ítéletet tartott Sámuel Izrael fiai fölött Miczpában.
They gathered together to Mizpah, and drew water, and poured it out before the LORD, and fasted on that day, and said, "We have sinned against the LORD." Samuel judged the children of Israel in Mizpah.
7 Midőn meghallották a filiszteusok, hogy összegyűltek Izrael fiai Miczpába, fölvonultak a filiszteusok fejedelmei Izrael ellen; Izrael fiai meghallották és féltek a filiszteusoktól.
When the Philistines heard that the children of Israel were gathered together at Mizpah, the lords of the Philistines went up against Israel. When the children of Israel heard it, they were afraid of the Philistines.
8 Ekkor szóltak Izrael fiai Sámuelhez: Meg ne szűnjél értünk kiáltani az Örökkévalóhoz, Istenünkhöz, hogy megsegítsen a filiszteusok kezéből.
The children of Israel said to Samuel, "Do not cease to cry to the LORD your God for us, that he will save us out of the hand of the Philistines."
9 Erre vett Sámuel egy szopós bárányt és bemutatta égőáldozatul egészen az Örökkévalónak; és kiáltott Sámuel az Örökkévalóhoz Izraelért s meghallgatta őt az Örökkévaló.
Samuel took a suckling lamb, and offered it for a whole burnt offering to the LORD: and Samuel cried to the LORD for Israel; and the LORD answered him.
10 Sámuel épen bemutatta az égőáldozatot, amidőn a filiszteusok közeledtek harcra Izrael ellen; s dörögtetett az Örökkévaló ama napon nagy hanggal a filiszteusokra és megzavarta őket, és megverettek Izrael előtt.
As Samuel was offering up the burnt offering, the Philistines drew near to battle against Israel; but the LORD thundered with a great thunder on that day on the Philistines, and confused them; and they were struck down before Israel.
11 Kivonultak Izrael emberei Miczpából, üldözték a filiszteusokat és megverték őket Bét-Kár aljáig.
The men of Israel went out of Mizpah, and pursued the Philistines, and struck them, as far as below Beth Kar.
12 Ekkor vett Sámuel egy követ, elhelyezte Miczpá és Sén között és így nevezte el: Ében Háézer; mondta ugyanis: Idáig segített minket az Örökkévaló.
Then Samuel took a stone, and set it between Mizpah and Jashan, and called its name Ebenezer, saying, "The LORD helped us until now."
13 S megalázkodtak a filiszteusok és többé nem is mentek be Izrael határába; és volt az Örökkévaló keze a filiszteusok ellen Sámuel minden napjaiban.
So the Philistines were subdued, and they came no more within the territory of Israel. The hand of the LORD was against the Philistines all the days of Samuel.
14 És visszakerültek azon városok, melyeket Izraeltől elvettek volt a filiszteusok, Izraelhez, Ekróntól Gátig; s határukat is kiszabadította Izrael a filiszteusok kezéből; és béke volt Izrael és az emóri közt.
The cities which the Philistines had taken from Israel were restored to Israel, from Ekron even to Gath; and Israel recovered its territory out of the hand of the Philistines. There was peace between Israel and the Amorites.
15 Bírája volt Sámuel Izraelnek élete mindennapjaiban.
Samuel judged Israel all the days of his life.
16 Menni szokott évről évre, körüljárt Bét-Élbe, Gilgálba és Miczpába, és ítéletet tartott Izrael fölött mind e helyeken.
He went from year to year in circuit to Bethel and Gilgal, and Mizpah; and he judged Israel in all those places.
17 Vissza pedig Rámába tért, mert ott volt a háza és ott bírája volt Izraelnek. És épített ott oltárt az Örökkévalónak.
His return was to Ramah, for there was his house; and there he judged Israel: and he built there an altar to the LORD.
