रोमियों 7
1 १ हे भाइयों, क्या तुम नहीं जानते (मैं व्यवस्था के जाननेवालों से कहता हूँ) कि जब तक मनुष्य जीवित रहता है, तब तक उस पर व्यवस्था की प्रभुता रहती है?
Know ye not, brethren, (for I am speaking to those who are acquainted with the Law, ) that the Law hath dominion over a man only as long as he liveth?
2 २ क्योंकि विवाहित स्त्री व्यवस्था के अनुसार अपने पति के जीते जी उससे बंधी है, परन्तु यदि पति मर जाए, तो वह पति की व्यवस्था से छूट गई।
For the married woman is bound by law to her husband while he liveth; but if the husband die, she is released from the law which bound her to him.
3 ३ इसलिए यदि पति के जीते जी वह किसी दूसरे पुरुष की हो जाए, तो व्यभिचारिणी कहलाएगी, परन्तु यदि पति मर जाए, तो वह उस व्यवस्था से छूट गई, यहाँ तक कि यदि किसी दूसरे पुरुष की हो जाए तो भी व्यभिचारिणी न ठहरेगी।
So then, if while her husband is living she connect herself with another man, she will be called an adulteress; but if her husband die, she is no longer bound by that law, so that she will not be an adulteress, though she connect herself with another man.
4 ४ तो हे मेरे भाइयों, तुम भी मसीह की देह के द्वारा व्यवस्था के लिये मरे हुए बन गए, कि उस दूसरे के हो जाओ, जो मरे हुओं में से जी उठा: ताकि हम परमेश्वर के लिये फल लाएँ।
So then, my brethren, ye also were slain to the Law through the body of Christ, that ye might be connected with another, even with him who was raised from the dead, that we might bear fruit to God.
5 ५ क्योंकि जब हम शारीरिक थे, तो पापों की अभिलाषाएँ जो व्यवस्था के द्वारा थीं, मृत्यु का फल उत्पन्न करने के लिये हमारे अंगों में काम करती थीं।
For when we were in the flesh, the affections of sins, which were through the Law, were working in our members to bear fruit unto death.
6 ६ परन्तु जिसके बन्धन में हम थे उसके लिये मरकर, अब व्यवस्था से ऐसे छूट गए, कि लेख की पुरानी रीति पर नहीं, वरन् आत्मा की नई रीति पर सेवा करते हैं।
But now we are delivered from the Law, having died to that by which we were bound, that we might serve in the new life of the Spirit, and not in the old way of the letter.
7 ७ तो हम क्या कहें? क्या व्यवस्था पाप है? कदापि नहीं! वरन् बिना व्यवस्था के मैं पाप को नहीं पहचानता व्यवस्था यदि न कहती, “लालच मत कर” तो मैं लालच को न जानता।
What then shall we say? Is the Law sin? God forbid! But I should not have known sin, except by the Law; for I should not have known sinful desire, unless the Law had said, “Thou shalt not covet.”
8 ८ परन्तु पाप ने अवसर पाकर आज्ञा के द्वारा मुझ में सब प्रकार का लालच उत्पन्न किया, क्योंकि बिना व्यवस्था के पाप मुर्दा है।
But sin, seizing the opportunity, wrought in me by means of the commandment all manner of sinful desire; for without the Law sin is dead.
And I, apart from the Law, was once alive; but when the commandment came, sin came to life again, and I died;
and the very commandment whose design was life, I found to issue in death.
For sin, seizing the opportunity, deceived me through the commandment, and through it slew me.
So that the Law is holy, and the commandment holy, and right, and good.
13 १३ तो क्या वह जो अच्छी थी, मेरे लिये मृत्यु ठहरी? कदापि नहीं! परन्तु पाप उस अच्छी वस्तु के द्वारा मेरे लिये मृत्यु का उत्पन्न करनेवाला हुआ कि उसका पाप होना प्रगट हो, और आज्ञा के द्वारा पाप बहुत ही पापमय ठहरे।
Did then that which is good become death to me? Far be it! but sin; that it might become manifest as sin, causing death to me by means of that which is good; that sin by means of the commandment might become exceedingly sinful.
14 १४ क्योंकि हम जानते हैं कि व्यवस्था तो आत्मिक है, परन्तु मैं शारीरिक हूँ और पाप के हाथ बिका हुआ हूँ।
For we know that the Law is spiritual; but I am unspiritual, a slave sold to sin.
15 १५ और जो मैं करता हूँ उसको नहीं जानता, क्योंकि जो मैं चाहता हूँ वह नहीं किया करता, परन्तु जिससे मुझे घृणा आती है, वही करता हूँ।
For I know not what I do. For I do not what I would, but I do what I hate.
But if I do what I would not, I assent to the Law that it is good.
Now, however, it is no longer I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.
18 १८ क्योंकि मैं जानता हूँ, कि मुझ में अर्थात् मेरे शरीर में कोई अच्छी वस्तु वास नहीं करती, इच्छा तो मुझ में है, परन्तु भले काम मुझसे बन नहीं पड़ते।
For I know that there dwelleth not in me, that is, in my flesh, any good thing; for to desire is present with me, but not to perform that which is good.
19 १९ क्योंकि जिस अच्छे काम की मैं इच्छा करता हूँ, वह तो नहीं करता, परन्तु जिस बुराई की इच्छा नहीं करता, वही किया करता हूँ।
For the good that I would, I do not; but the evil which I would not, that I do.
20 २० परन्तु यदि मैं वही करता हूँ जिसकी इच्छा नहीं करता, तो उसका करनेवाला मैं न रहा, परन्तु पाप जो मुझ में बसा हुआ है।
But if I do what I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.
I find then that there is a law to me, that when I would do good, evil is present with me.
For I delight in the Law of God, as to the inward man;
23 २३ परन्तु मुझे अपने अंगों में दूसरे प्रकार की व्यवस्था दिखाई पड़ती है, जो मेरी बुद्धि की व्यवस्था से लड़ती है और मुझे पाप की व्यवस्था के बन्धन में डालती है जो मेरे अंगों में है।
but I perceive another law in my members warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.
Wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from the body of this death?
25 २५ हमारे प्रभु यीशु मसीह के द्वारा परमेश्वर का धन्यवाद हो। इसलिए मैं आप बुद्धि से तो परमेश्वर की व्यवस्था का, परन्तु शरीर से पाप की व्यवस्था की सेवा करता हूँ।
Thanks be to God, [[who hath delivered me]] through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then, I, the same person, with the mind serve the law of God, but with the flesh the law of sin.
