विलापगीत 3

1 १ उसके रोष की छड़ी से दुःख भोगनेवाला पुरुष मैं ही हूँ;

I am the man who hath seen affliction by the rod of his wrath.

2 २ वह मुझे ले जाकर उजियाले में नहीं, अंधियारे ही में चलाता है;

Me hath he driven out, and led into darkness, but not into light.

3 ३ उसका हाथ दिन भर मेरे ही विरुद्ध उठता रहता है।

Surely against me doth he turn again and again his hand all the day.

4 ४ उसने मेरा माँस और चमड़ा गला दिया है, और मेरी हड्डियों को तोड़ दिया है;

He hath caused my flesh and my skin to wear out, he hath broken my bones.

5 ५ उसने मुझे रोकने के लिये किला बनाया, और मुझ को कठिन दुःख और श्रम से घेरा है;

He hath built around me, and encompassed me with poison and hardship.

6 ६ उसने मुझे बहुत दिन के मरे हुए लोगों के समान अंधेरे स्थानों में बसा दिया है।

In dark places hath he set me to dwell, like the dead of olden times.

7 ७ मेरे चारों ओर उसने बाड़ा बाँधा है कि मैं निकल नहीं सकता; उसने मुझे भारी साँकल से जकड़ा है;

He hath placed a fence round about me, that I cannot get out; he hath made heavy my chain.

8 ८ मैं चिल्ला-चिल्ला के दुहाई देता हूँ, तो भी वह मेरी प्रार्थना नहीं सुनता;

Also when I cry aloud and make entreaty, he shutteth out my prayer.

9 ९ मेरे मार्गों को उसने गढ़े हुए पत्थरों से रोक रखा है, मेरी डगरों को उसने टेढ़ी कर दिया है।

He hath fenced up my ways with hewn stone, my paths hath he made crooked.

10 १० वह मेरे लिये घात में बैठे हुए रीछ और घात लगाए हुए सिंह के समान है;

A bear lying in wait is he to me, a lion in secret places.

11 ११ उसने मुझे मेरे मार्गों से भुला दिया, और मुझे फाड़ डाला; उसने मुझ को उजाड़ दिया है।

On my ways hath he placed thorns, and torn me in pieces: he hath made me desolate.

12 १२ उसने धनुष चढ़ाकर मुझे अपने तीर का निशाना बनाया है।

He hath bent his bow, and placed me as a mark for the arrow.

13 १३ उसने अपनी तीरों से मेरे हृदय को बेध दिया है;

He hath caused to enter into my reins the children of his quiver.

14 १४ सब लोग मुझ पर हँसते हैं और दिन भर मुझ पर ढालकर गीत गाते हैं,

I am become a laughing-stock to all my people, their [jeering] song all the day.

15 १५ उसने मुझे कठिन दुःख से भर दिया, और नागदौना पिलाकर तृप्त किया है।

He hath sated me with bitter things, he hath made me drunken with wormwood.

16 १६ उसने मेरे दाँतों को कंकड़ से तोड़ डाला, और मुझे राख से ढाँप दिया है;

He hath also broken my teeth with gravel-stones, he hath covered me with ashes.

17 १७ और मुझ को मन से उतारकर कुशल से रहित किया है; मैं कल्याण भूल गया हूँ;

And my soul hath given up all thoughts of peace: I forget happiness.

18 १८ इसलिए मैंने कहा, “मेरा बल नष्ट हुआ, और मेरी आशा जो यहोवा पर थी, वह टूट गई है।”

And I said, Lost is my strength, my expectation also from the Lord.

19 १९ मेरा दुःख और मारा-मारा फिरना, मेरा नागदौने और विष का पीना स्मरण कर!

Remembering my affliction and [the cause of] my complaint, wormwood and poison.

20 २० मैं उन्हीं पर सोचता रहता हूँ, इससे मेरा प्राण ढला जाता है।

Remembering [this] continually my soul is bowed down deeply within me.

21 २१ परन्तु मैं यह स्मरण करता हूँ, इसलिए मुझे आशा है:

[Yet] this answer will I give to my heart: therefore will I wait [in confidence].

22 २२ हम मिट नहीं गए; यह यहोवा की महाकरुणा का फल है, क्योंकि उसकी दया अमर है।

It is through the Lord's kindness that we are not consumed, because his mercies have no end;

23 २३ प्रति भोर वह नई होती रहती है; तेरी सच्चाई महान है।

They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

24 २४ मेरे मन ने कहा, “यहोवा मेरा भाग है, इस कारण मैं उसमें आशा रखूँगा।”

The Lord is my portion, saith my soul, therefore will I wait for him.

25 २५ जो यहोवा की बाट जोहते और उसके पास जाते हैं, उनके लिये यहोवा भला है।

The Lord is good unto those that hope in him, to the soul that seeketh him.

26 २६ यहोवा से उद्धार पाने की आशा रखकर चुपचाप रहना भला है।

It is good that one should wait and this in silence for the salvation of the Lord.

27 २७ पुरुष के लिये जवानी में जूआ उठाना भला है।

It is good for a man that he bear the yoke in his youth;

28 २८ वह यह जानकर अकेला चुपचाप रहे, कि परमेश्वर ही ने उस पर यह बोझ डाला है;

That he sit in solitude and be silent; because He hath laid it upon him;

29 २९ वह अपना मुँह धूल में रखे, क्या जाने इसमें कुछ आशा हो;

That he put his mouth in the dust; perhaps there still is hope;

30 ३० वह अपना गाल अपने मारनेवाले की ओर फेरे, और नामधराई सहता रहे।

That he offer his cheek to him that smiteth him; that he be satisfied with reproach.

31 ३१ क्योंकि प्रभु मन से सर्वदा उतारे नहीं रहता,

For the Lord will not cast off for ever;

32 ३२ चाहे वह दुःख भी दे, तो भी अपनी करुणा की बहुतायत के कारण वह दया भी करता है;

But though he have caused grief, yet will he have mercy according to the abundance of his kindnesses.

33 ३३ क्योंकि वह मनुष्यों को अपने मन से न तो दबाता है और न दुःख देता है।

For he doth not afflict of his own will, and aggrieve the children of men.

34 ३४ पृथ्वी भर के बन्दियों को पाँव के तले दलित करना,

To crush under his feet all the prisoners of the earth,

35 ३५ किसी पुरुष का हक़ परमप्रधान के सामने मारना,

To pervert the justice [due to man] before the face of the Most High.

36 ३६ और किसी मनुष्य का मुकद्दमा बिगाड़ना, इन तीन कामों को यहोवा देख नहीं सकता।

To subvert a man in his contest—should the Lord not see this?

37 ३७ यदि यहोवा ने आज्ञा न दी हो, तब कौन है कि वचन कहे और वह पूरा हो जाए?

Who is he that saith aught, and it cometh to pass, when the Lord hath not ordained it?

38 ३८ विपत्ति और कल्याण, क्या दोनों परमप्रधान की आज्ञा से नहीं होते?

Do not out of the mouth of the Most High come both the evil things and the good?

39 ३९ इसलिए जीवित मनुष्य क्यों कुड़कुड़ाए? और पुरुष अपने पाप के दण्ड को क्यों बुरा माने?

Wherefore should a living man complain? let every man complain because of his sins.

40 ४० हम अपने चाल चलन को ध्यान से परखें, और यहोवा की ओर फिरें!

Let us search through and investigate our ways, and let us return to the Lord.

41 ४१ हम स्वर्ग में वास करनेवाले परमेश्वर की ओर मन लगाएँ और हाथ फैलाएँ और कहें:

Let us lift up our heart with our hands unto God in the heavens.

42 ४२ “हमने तो अपराध और बलवा किया है, और तूने क्षमा नहीं किया।

We have indeed transgressed and rebelled: thou hast truly not pardoned.

43 ४३ तेरा कोप हम पर है, तू हमारे पीछे पड़ा है, तूने बिना तरस खाए घात किया है।

Thou hast covered [us] with thy anger, and made pursuit after us: thou hast slain, thou hast not pitied.

44 ४४ तूने अपने को मेघ से घेर लिया है कि तुझ तक प्रार्थना न पहुँच सके।

Thou hast covered thyself with a cloud, that no prayer should pass through.

45 ४५ तूने हमको जाति-जाति के लोगों के बीच में कूड़ा-करकट सा ठहराया है।

As something loathsome and rejected hast thou rendered us in the midst of the people.

46 ४६ हमारे सब शत्रुओं ने हम पर अपना-अपना मुँह फैलाया है;

Wide have all our enemies opened against us their mouth.

47 ४७ भय और गड्ढा, उजाड़ और विनाश, हम पर आ पड़े हैं;

Terror and a snare are come upon us, [with] desolation and breaches.

48 ४८ मेरी आँखों से मेरी प्रजा की पुत्री के विनाश के कारण जल की धाराएँ बह रही है।

With streams of water runneth my eye down, because of the breach of the daughter of my people.

49 ४९ मेरी आँख से लगातार आँसू बहते रहेंगे,

My eye trickleth down, and resteth not, without any intermission,

50 ५० जब तक यहोवा स्वर्ग से मेरी ओर न देखे;

Till the Lord look down, and behold from heaven.

51 ५१ अपनी नगरी की सब स्त्रियों का हाल देखने पर मेरा दुःख बढ़ता है।

My eye affecteth my soul because of all the daughters of my city.

52 ५२ जो व्यर्थ मेरे शत्रु बने हैं, उन्होंने निर्दयता से चिड़िया के समान मेरा आहेर किया है;

Those who are my enemies, without a cause, have chased me about like a bird.

53 ५३ उन्होंने मुझे गड्ढे में डालकर मेरे जीवन का अन्त करने के लिये मेरे ऊपर पत्थर लुढ़काए हैं;

They have shut up in the dungeon my life, and have cast stones upon me.

54 ५४ मेरे सिर पर से जल बह गया, मैंने कहा, ‘मैं अब नाश हो गया।’

Waters streamed over my head: I said, I am cut off.

55 ५५ हे यहोवा, गहरे गड्ढे में से मैंने तुझ से प्रार्थना की;

I called on thy name, O Lord, out of the dungeon of the lowest depth.

56 ५६ तूने मेरी सुनी कि जो दुहाई देकर मैं चिल्लाता हूँ उससे कान न फेर ले!

Thou didst hear my voice: hide not thy ear to give me enlargement at my cry.

57 ५७ जब मैंने तुझे पुकारा, तब तूने मुझसे कहा, ‘मत डर!’

Thou wast ever near on the day that I called on thee: thou saidst, Fear not.

58 ५८ हे यहोवा, तूने मेरा मुकद्दमा लड़कर मेरा प्राण बचा लिया है।

Thou didst plead, O Lord, the causes of my soul: thou didst [before this] redeem my life.

59 ५९ हे यहोवा, जो अन्याय मुझ पर हुआ है उसे तूने देखा है; तू मेरा न्याय चुका।

Thou hast [now] seen, O Lord, the wrong I suffer: judge thou my cause.

60 ६० जो बदला उन्होंने मुझसे लिया, और जो कल्पनाएँ मेरे विरुद्ध की, उन्हें भी तूने देखा है।

Thou hast seen all their vengeance, all their plans against me.

61 ६१ हे यहोवा, जो कल्पनाएँ और निन्दा वे मेरे विरुद्ध करते हैं, वे भी तूने सुनी हैं।

Thou hast heard their reviling, O Lord, all their plans against me,

62 ६२ मेरे विरोधियों के वचन, और जो कुछ भी वे मेरे विरुद्ध लगातार सोचते हैं, उन्हें तू जानता है।

The speeches of these that rise up against me, and their device against me all the day.

63 ६३ उनका उठना-बैठना ध्यान से देख; वे मुझ पर लगते हुए गीत गाते हैं।

Oh look upon their sitting down, and their rising up: I am their [jeering] song.

64 ६४ हे यहोवा, तू उनके कामों के अनुसार उनको बदला देगा।

Render unto them a recompense, O Lord, according to the work of their hands.

65 ६५ तू उनका मन सुन्न कर देगा; तेरा श्राप उन पर होगा।

Give them confusion of heart, thy curse he upon them.

66 ६६ हे यहोवा, तू अपने कोप से उनको खदेड़-खदेड़कर धरती पर से नाश कर देगा।”

Pursue them in anger and destroy from under the heavens of the Lord.
