अय्यूब 8

1 १ तब शूही बिल्दद ने कहा,

The Baldad the Suhite answered, and said:

2 २ “तू कब तक ऐसी-ऐसी बातें करता रहेगा? और तेरे मुँह की बातें कब तक प्रचण्ड वायु सी रहेगी?

How long wilt thou speak these things, and how long shall the words of thy mouth be like a strong wind?

3 ३ क्या परमेश्वर अन्याय करता है? और क्या सर्वशक्तिमान धार्मिकता को उलटा करता है?

Doth God pervert judgment, or doth the Almighty overthrow that which is just?

4 ४ यदि तेरे बच्चों ने उसके विरुद्ध पाप किया है, तो उसने उनको उनके अपराध का फल भुगताया है।

Although thy children have sinned against him, and he hath left them in the hand of their iniquity:

5 ५ तो भी यदि तू आप परमेश्वर को यत्न से ढूँढ़ता, और सर्वशक्तिमान से गिड़गिड़ाकर विनती करता,

Yet if thou wilt arise early to God, and wilt beseech the Almighty:

6 ६ और यदि तू निर्मल और धर्मी रहता, तो निश्चय वह तेरे लिये जागता; और तेरी धार्मिकता का निवास फिर ज्यों का त्यों कर देता।

If thou wilt walk clean and upright, he will presently awake onto thee, and will make the dwelling of thy justice peaceable:

7 ७ चाहे तेरा भाग पहले छोटा ही रहा हो परन्तु अन्त में तेरी बहुत बढ़ती होती।

Insomuch, that if thy former things were small, thy latter things would be multiplied exceedingly.

8 ८ “पिछली पीढ़ी के लोगों से तो पूछ, और जो कुछ उनके पुरखाओं ने जाँच पड़ताल की है उस पर ध्यान दे।

For inquire of the former generation, and search diligently into the memory of the fathers:

9 ९ क्योंकि हम तो कल ही के हैं, और कुछ नहीं जानते; और पृथ्वी पर हमारे दिन छाया के समान बीतते जाते हैं।

(For we are but of yesterday, and are ignorant that our days upon earth are but a shadow: )

10 १० क्या वे लोग तुझ से शिक्षा की बातें न कहेंगे? क्या वे अपने मन से बात न निकालेंगे?

And they shall teach thee: they shall speak to thee, and utter words out of their hearts.

11 ११ “क्या कछार की घास पानी बिना बढ़ सकती है? क्या सरकण्डा जल बिना बढ़ता है?

Can the rush be green without moisture? or a sedge-bush grow without water?

12 १२ चाहे वह हरी हो, और काटी भी न गई हो, तो भी वह और सब भाँति की घास से पहले ही सूख जाती है।

When it is yet in flower, and is not plucked up with the hand, it withereth before all herbs.

13 १३ परमेश्वर के सब बिसरानेवालों की गति ऐसी ही होती है और भक्तिहीन की आशा टूट जाती है।

Even so are the ways of all that forget God, and the hope of the hypocrite shall perish:

14 १४ उसकी आशा का मूल कट जाता है; और जिसका वह भरोसा करता है, वह मकड़ी का जाला ठहरता है।

His folly shall not please him, and his trust shall be like the spider’s web.

15 १५ चाहे वह अपने घर पर टेक लगाए परन्तु वह न ठहरेगा; वह उसे दृढ़ता से थामेगा परन्तु वह स्थिर न रहेगा।

He shall lean upon his house, and it shall not stand: he shall prop it up, and it shall not rise:

16 १६ वह धूप पाकर हरा भरा हो जाता है, और उसकी डालियाँ बगीचे में चारों ओर फैलती हैं।

He seemeth to have moisture before the sun cometh, and at his rising his blossom shall shoot forth.

17 १७ उसकी जड़ कंकड़ों के ढेर में लिपटी हुई रहती है, और वह पत्थर के स्थान को देख लेता है।

His roots shall be thick upon a heap of stones, and among the stones he shall abide.

18 १८ परन्तु जब वह अपने स्थान पर से नाश किया जाए, तब वह स्थान उससे यह कहकर मुँह मोड़ लेगा, ‘मैंने उसे कभी देखा ही नहीं।’

If one swallow him up out of his place, he shall deny him, and shall say: I know thee not.

19 १९ देख, उसकी आनन्द भरी चाल यही है; फिर उसी मिट्टी में से दूसरे उगेंगे।

For this is the joy of his way, that others may spring again out of the earth.

20 २० “देख, परमेश्वर न तो खरे मनुष्य को निकम्मा जानकर छोड़ देता है, और न बुराई करनेवालों को सम्भालता है।

God will not cast away the simple, nor reach out his hand to the evildoer:

21 २१ वह तो तुझे हँसमुख करेगा; और तुझ से जयजयकार कराएगा।

Until thy mouth be filled with laughter, and thy lips with rejoicing.

22 २२ तेरे बैरी लज्जा का वस्त्र पहनेंगे, और दुष्टों का डेरा कहीं रहने न पाएगा।”

They that hate thee, shall be clothed with confusion: and the dwelling of the wicked shall not stand.
