अय्यूब 41

1 १ “फिर क्या तू लिव्यातान को बंसी के द्वारा खींच सकता है, या डोरी से उसका जबड़ा दबा सकता है?

Canst thou draw out leviathan with a fish-hook? or press down his tongue with a cord?

2 २ क्या तू उसकी नाक में नकेल लगा सकता या उसका जबड़ा कील से बेध सकता है?

Canst thou put a ring into his nose? or bore his jaw through with a hook?

3 ३ क्या वह तुझ से बहुत गिड़गिड़ाहट करेगा, या तुझ से मीठी बातें बोलेगा?

Will he make many supplications unto thee? or will he speak soft words unto thee?

4 ४ क्या वह तुझ से वाचा बाँधेगा कि वह सदा तेरा दास रहे?

Will he make a covenant with thee, that thou shouldest take him for a servant for ever?

5 ५ क्या तू उससे ऐसे खेलेगा जैसे चिड़िया से, या अपनी लड़कियों का जी बहलाने को उसे बाँध रखेगा?

Wilt thou play with him as with a bird? Or wilt thou bind him for thy maidens?

6 ६ क्या मछुए के दल उसे बिकाऊ माल समझेंगे? क्या वह उसे व्यापारियों में बाँट देंगे?

Will the bands of fishermen make a banquet of him? Will they part him among the merchants?

7 ७ क्या तू उसका चमड़ा भाले से, या उसका सिर मछुए के त्रिशूलों से बेध सकता है?

Canst thou fill his skin with barbed irons? or his head with fish-spears?

8 ८ तू उस पर अपना हाथ ही धरे, तो लड़ाई को कभी न भूलेगा, और भविष्य में कभी ऐसा न करेगा।

Lay thy hand upon him; think upon the battle, thou wilt do so no more.

9 ९ देख, उसे पकड़ने की आशा निष्फल रहती है; उसके देखने ही से मन कच्चा पड़ जाता है।

Behold, the hope of him is in vain; shall not one be cast down even at the sight of him?

10 १० कोई ऐसा साहसी नहीं, जो लिव्यातान को भड़काए; फिर ऐसा कौन है जो मेरे सामने ठहर सके?

None is so fierce that dare stir him up; who then is able to stand before Me?

11 ११ किसने मुझे पहले दिया है, जिसका बदला मुझे देना पड़े! देख, जो कुछ सारी धरती पर है, सब मेरा है।

Who hath given Me anything beforehand, that I should repay him? Whatsoever is under the whole heaven is Mine.

12 १२ “मैं लिव्यातान के अंगों के विषय, और उसके बड़े बल और उसकी बनावट की शोभा के विषय चुप न रहूँगा।

Would I keep silence concerning his boastings, or his proud talk, or his fair array of words?

13 १३ उसके ऊपर के पहरावे को कौन उतार सकता है? उसके दाँतों की दोनों पाँतियों के अर्थात् जबड़ों के बीच कौन आएगा?

Who can uncover the face of his garment? Who shall come within his double bridle?

14 १४ उसके मुख के दोनों किवाड़ कौन खोल सकता है? उसके दाँत चारों ओर से डरावने हैं।

Who can open the doors of his face? Round about his teeth is terror.

15 १५ उसके छिलकों की रेखाएँ घमण्ड का कारण हैं; वे मानो कड़ी छाप से बन्द किए हुए हैं।

His scales are his pride, shut up together as with a close seal.

16 १६ वे एक दूसरे से ऐसे जुड़े हुए हैं, कि उनमें कुछ वायु भी नहीं पैठ सकती।

One is so near to another, that no air can come between them.

17 १७ वे आपस में मिले हुए और ऐसे सटे हुए हैं, कि अलग-अलग नहीं हो सकते।

They are joined one to another; they stick together, that they cannot be sundered.

18 १८ फिर उसके छींकने से उजियाला चमक उठता है, और उसकी आँखें भोर की पलकों के समान हैं।

His sneezings flash forth light, and his eyes are like the eyelids of the morning.

19 १९ उसके मुँह से जलते हुए पलीते निकलते हैं, और आग की चिंगारियाँ छूटती हैं।

Out of his mouth go burning torches, and sparks of fire leap forth.

20 २० उसके नथनों से ऐसा धुआँ निकलता है, जैसा खौलती हुई हाण्डी और जलते हुए नरकटों से।

Out of his nostrils goeth smoke, as out of a seething pot and burning rushes.

21 २१ उसकी साँस से कोयले सुलगते, और उसके मुँह से आग की लौ निकलती है।

His breath kindleth coals, and a flame goeth out of his mouth.

22 २२ उसकी गर्दन में सामर्थ्य बनी रहती है, और उसके सामने डर नाचता रहता है।

In his neck abideth strength, and dismay danceth before him.

23 २३ उसके माँस पर माँस चढ़ा हुआ है, और ऐसा आपस में सटा हुआ है जो हिल नहीं सकता।

The flakes of his flesh are joined together; they are firm upon him; they cannot be moved.

24 २४ उसका हृदय पत्थर सा दृढ़ है, वरन् चक्की के निचले पाट के समान दृढ़ है।

His heart is as firm as a stone; yea, firm as the nether millstone.

25 २५ जब वह उठने लगता है, तब सामर्थी भी डर जाते हैं, और डर के मारे उनकी सुध-बुध लोप हो जाती है।

When he raiseth himself up, the mighty are afraid; by reason of despair they are beside themselves.

26 २६ यदि कोई उस पर तलवार चलाए, तो उससे कुछ न बन पड़ेगा; और न भाले और न बर्छी और न तीर से।

If one lay at him with the sword, it will not hold; nor the spear, the dart, nor the pointed shaft.

27 २७ वह लोहे को पुआल सा, और पीतल को सड़ी लकड़ी सा जानता है।

He esteemeth iron as straw, and brass as rotten wood.

28 २८ वह तीर से भगाया नहीं जाता, गोफन के पत्थर उसके लिये भूसे से ठहरते हैं।

The arrow cannot make him flee; slingstones are turned with him into stubble.

29 २९ लाठियाँ भी भूसे के समान गिनी जाती हैं; वह बर्छी के चलने पर हँसता है।

Clubs are accounted as stubble; he laugheth at the rattling of the javelin.

30 ३० उसके निचले भाग पैने ठीकरे के समान हैं, कीचड़ पर मानो वह हेंगा फेरता है।

Sharpest potsherds are under him; he spreadeth a threshing-sledge upon the mire.

31 ३१ वह गहरे जल को हण्डे के समान मथता है उसके कारण नील नदी मरहम की हाण्डी के समान होती है।

He maketh the deep to boil like a pot; he maketh the sea like a seething mixture.

32 ३२ वह अपने पीछे चमकीली लीक छोड़ता जाता है। गहरा जल मानो श्वेत दिखाई देने लगता है।

He maketh a path to shine after him; one would think the deep to be hoary.

33 ३३ धरती पर उसके तुल्य और कोई नहीं है, जो ऐसा निर्भय बनाया गया है।

Upon earth there is not his like, who is made to be fearless.

34 ३४ जो कुछ ऊँचा है, उसे वह ताकता ही रहता है, वह सब घमण्डियों के ऊपर राजा है।”

He looketh at all high things; he is king over all the proud beasts.
