अय्यूब 24

1 १ “सर्वशक्तिमान ने दुष्टों के न्याय के लिए समय क्यों नहीं ठहराया, और जो लोग उसका ज्ञान रखते हैं वे उसके दिन क्यों देखने नहीं पाते?

Why are not times [of punishment] treasured up by the Almighty, and why do his adorers not see his days [of retribution]?

2 २ कुछ लोग भूमि की सीमा को बढ़ाते, और भेड़-बकरियाँ छीनकर चराते हैं।

[The wicked] remove landmarks: they rob flocks, and feed them.

3 ३ वे अनाथों का गदहा हाँक ले जाते, और विधवा का बैल बन्धक कर रखते हैं।

They drive away the ass of the fatherless, they take in pledge the widow's ox.

4 ४ वे दरिद्र लोगों को मार्ग से हटा देते, और देश के दीनों को इकट्ठे छिपना पड़ता है।

They chase the needy out of the highway: altogether hide themselves the poor of the earth.

5 ५ देखो, दीन लोग जंगली गदहों के समान अपने काम को और कुछ भोजन यत्न से ढूँढ़ने को निकल जाते हैं; उनके बच्चों का भोजन उनको जंगल से मिलता है।

Behold, as wild asses in the wilderness go they forth to their work, rising betimes after [their] prey: the desert yieldeth food for them and for their young men.

6 ६ उनको खेत में चारा काटना, और दुष्टों की बची बचाई दाख बटोरना पड़ता है।

In the field they reap their food; and in the vineyard of the wicked they gather the fruit.

7 ७ रात को उन्हें बिना वस्त्र नंगे पड़े रहना और जाड़े के समय बिना ओढ़े पड़े रहना पड़ता है।

They cause [the poor] to spend the night naked, without clothing and without any covering in the cold.

8 ८ वे पहाड़ों पर की वर्षा से भीगे रहते, और शरण न पाकर चट्टान से लिपट जाते हैं।

Through the sweeping rain of the mountains are they made wet, and for want of a shelter do they embrace the rock.

9 ९ कुछ दुष्ट लोग अनाथ बालक को माँ की छाती पर से छीन लेते हैं, और दीन लोगों से बन्धक लेते हैं।

The others pluck from the breast the fatherless, and the garment of the poor they take in pledge.

10 १० जिससे वे बिना वस्त्र नंगे फिरते हैं; और भूख के मारे, पूलियाँ ढोते हैं।

They cause him to go naked without clothing, and from the hungry they take away the sheaf:

11 ११ वे दुष्टों की दीवारों के भीतर तेल पेरते और उनके कुण्डों में दाख रौंदते हुए भी प्यासे रहते हैं।

Within their walls do they make oil, they tread their wine-presses, and suffer thirst.

12 १२ वे बड़े नगर में कराहते हैं, और घायल किए हुओं का जी दुहाई देता है; परन्तु परमेश्वर मूर्खता का हिसाब नहीं लेता।

Out of a populous city is groaning heard, and the soul of the deadly wounded crieth out: yet God regardeth it not as an offence.

13 १३ “फिर कुछ लोग उजियाले से बैर रखते, वे उसके मार्गों को नहीं पहचानते, और न उसके मार्गों में बने रहते हैं।

Yon men are of those that rebel against the light: they know not its ways, nor abide in its paths.

14 १४ खूनी, पौ फटते ही उठकर दीन दरिद्र मनुष्य को घात करता, और रात को चोर बन जाता है।

With the earliest light riseth the murderer, he slayeth the poor and needy, and in the night he becometh like the thief.

15 १५ व्यभिचारी यह सोचकर कि कोई मुझ को देखने न पाए, दिन डूबने की राह देखता रहता है, और वह अपना मुँह छिपाए भी रखता है।

And the eye of the adulterer watcheth for the twilight, saying, No eye will see me; and placeth a covering on his face.

16 १६ वे अंधियारे के समय घरों में सेंध मारते और दिन को छिपे रहते हैं; वे उजियाले को जानते भी नहीं।

They break into houses in the dark, in the daytime they lock themselves in: they know not the light.

17 १७ क्योंकि उन सभी को भोर का प्रकाश घोर अंधकार सा जान पड़ता है, घोर अंधकार का भय वे जानते हैं।”

For to all of these alike is the morning as the shadow of death; for they are familiar with the terrors of the shadow of death.

18 १८ “वे जल के ऊपर हलकी सी वस्तु के सरीखे हैं, उनके भाग को पृथ्वी के रहनेवाले कोसते हैं, और वे अपनी दाख की बारियों में लौटने नहीं पाते।

Swift are such men [to flee] on the face of the water; accursed is their field on the land; none of them turneth himself to the way, of the vineyards.

19 १९ जैसे सूखे और धूप से हिम का जल सूख जाता है वैसे ही पापी लोग अधोलोक में सूख जाते हैं। (Sheol h7585)

Drought and heat speedily consume the snow-waters: so doth the grave those who have sinned. (Sheol h7585)

20 २० माता भी उसको भूल जाती, और कीड़े उसे चूसते हैं, भविष्य में उसका स्मरण न रहेगा; इस रीति टेढ़ा काम करनेवाला वृक्ष के समान कट जाता है।

The mother that bore such a one will forget him; the worm will feed sweetly on him; he will be no more remembered; and like a tree will wickedness be broken.

21 २१ “वह बाँझ स्त्री को जो कभी नहीं जनी लूटता, और विधवा से भलाई करना नहीं चाहता है।

He ill-treateth the barren that heareth not; and to the widow he acteth not well.

22 २२ बलात्कारियों को भी परमेश्वर अपनी शक्ति से खींच लेता है, जो जीवित रहने की आशा नहीं रखता, वह भी फिर उठ बैठता है।

But he also draweth down the mighty with his power: he riseth up, no one is sure of life.

23 २३ उन्हें ऐसे बेखटके कर देता है, कि वे सम्भले रहते हैं; और उसकी कृपादृष्टि उनकी चाल पर लगी रहती है।

To such [God] granteth to be in safety, that he may find support; and His eyes are upon their ways.

24 २४ वे बढ़ते हैं, तब थोड़ी देर में जाते रहते हैं, वे दबाए जाते और सभी के समान रख लिये जाते हैं, और अनाज की बाल के समान काटे जाते हैं।

They are exalted; in but a little while they are no more; and they are brought down low: like all others are they gathered in, and like the top of the ear of corn are they cut off.

25 २५ क्या यह सब सच नहीं! कौन मुझे झुठलाएगा? कौन मेरी बातें निकम्मी ठहराएगा?”

But if it be not so, who will prove me a liar, and render nought my word?
