अय्यूब 22

1 १ तब तेमानी एलीपज ने कहा,

Then Eliphaz the Thaemanite answered and said,

2 २ “क्या मनुष्य से परमेश्वर को लाभ पहुँच सकता है? जो बुद्धिमान है, वह स्वयं के लिए लाभदायक है।

Is it not the Lord that teaches understanding and knowledge?

3 ३ क्या तेरे धर्मी होने से सर्वशक्तिमान सुख पा सकता है? तेरी चाल की खराई से क्या उसे कुछ लाभ हो सकता है?

For what matters it to the Lord, if thou wert blameless in [thy] works? or is it profitable that thou shouldest perfect thy way?

4 ४ वह तो तुझे डाँटता है, और तुझ से मुकद्दमा लड़ता है, तो क्या यह तेरी भक्‍ति के कारण है?

Wilt thou maintain and plead thine own cause? and will he enter into judgment with thee?

5 ५ क्या तेरी बुराई बहुत नहीं? तेरे अधर्म के कामों का कुछ अन्त नहीं।

Is not thy wickedness abundant, and thy sins innumerable?

6 ६ तूने तो अपने भाई का बन्धक अकारण रख लिया है, और नंगे के वस्त्र उतार लिये हैं।

And thou hast taken security of thy brethren for nothing, and hast taken away the clothing of the naked.

7 ७ थके हुए को तूने पानी न पिलाया, और भूखे को रोटी देने से इन्कार किया।

Neither hast thou given water to the thirsty to drink, but hast taken away the morsel of the hungry.

8 ८ जो बलवान था उसी को भूमि मिली, और जिस पुरुष की प्रतिष्ठा हुई थी, वही उसमें बस गया।

And thou hast accepted the persons of some; and thou hast established those [that were already settled] on the earth.

9 ९ तूने विधवाओं को खाली हाथ लौटा दिया। और अनाथों की बाहें तोड़ डाली गई।

But thou hast sent widows away empty, and has afflicted orphans.

10 १० इस कारण तेरे चारों ओर फंदे लगे हैं, और अचानक डर के मारे तू घबरा रहा है।

Therefore snares have compassed thee, and disastrous war has troubled thee.

11 ११ क्या तू अंधियारे को नहीं देखता, और उस बाढ़ को जिसमें तू डूब रहा है?

The light has proved darkness to thee, and water has covered thee on thy lying down.

12 १२ “क्या परमेश्वर स्वर्ग के ऊँचे स्थान में नहीं है? ऊँचे से ऊँचे तारों को देख कि वे कितने ऊँचे हैं।

Does not he that dwells in the high places observe? and has he not brought down the proud?

13 १३ फिर तू कहता है, ‘परमेश्वर क्या जानता है? क्या वह घोर अंधकार की आड़ में होकर न्याय करेगा?

And thou has said, What does the Mighty One know? does he judge in the dark?

14 १४ काली घटाओं से वह ऐसा छिपा रहता है कि वह कुछ नहीं देख सकता, वह तो आकाशमण्डल ही के ऊपर चलता फिरता है।’

A cloud is his hiding-place, and he shall not be seen; and he passes through the circle of heaven.

15 १५ क्या तू उस पुराने रास्ते को पकड़े रहेगा, जिस पर वे अनर्थ करनेवाले चलते हैं?

Wilt thou [not] mark the old way, which righteous men have trodden?

16 १६ वे अपने समय से पहले उठा लिए गए और उनके घर की नींव नदी बहा ले गई।

who were seized before their time: their foundations [are as] an overflowing stream.

17 १७ उन्होंने परमेश्वर से कहा था, ‘हम से दूर हो जा;’ और यह कि ‘सर्वशक्तिमान परमेश्वर हमारा क्या कर सकता है?’

Who say, What will the Lord do to us? or what will the Almighty bring upon us?

18 १८ तो भी उसने उनके घर अच्छे-अच्छे पदार्थों से भर दिए परन्तु दुष्ट लोगों का विचार मुझसे दूर रहे।

Yet he filled their houses with good things: but the counsel for the wicked is far from him.

19 १९ धर्मी लोग देखकर आनन्दित होते हैं; और निर्दोष लोग उनकी हँसी करते हैं, कि

The righteous have seen [it], and laughed, and the blameless one has derided [them].

20 २० ‘जो हमारे विरुद्ध उठे थे, निःसन्देह मिट गए और उनका बड़ा धन आग का कौर हो गया है।’

Verily their substance has been utterly destroyed, and the fire shall devour what is left of their [property].

21 २१ “परमेश्वर से मेल मिलाप कर तब तुझे शान्ति मिलेगी; और इससे तेरी भलाई होगी।

Be firm, I pray thee, if thou canst endure; then thy fruit shall prosper.

22 २२ उसके मुँह से शिक्षा सुन ले, और उसके वचन अपने मन में रख।

And receive a declaration from his mouth, and lay up his words in thine heart.

23 २३ यदि तू सर्वशक्तिमान परमेश्वर की ओर फिरके समीप जाए, और अपने तम्बू से कुटिल काम दूर करे, तो तू बन जाएगा।

And if thou shalt turn and humble thyself before the Lord, thou hast [thus] removed unrighteousness far from thy habitation.

24 २४ तू अपनी अनमोल वस्तुओं को धूलि पर, वरन् ओपीर का कुन्दन भी नालों के पत्थरों में डाल दे,

Thou shalt lay up for thyself [treasure] in a heap on the rock; and Sophir [shall be] as the rock of the torrent.

25 २५ तब सर्वशक्तिमान आप तेरी अनमोल वस्तु और तेरे लिये चमकीली चाँदी होगा।

So the Almighty shall be thy helper from enemies, and he shall bring thee forth pure as silver that has been tried by fire.

26 २६ तब तू सर्वशक्तिमान से सुख पाएगा, और परमेश्वर की ओर अपना मुँह बेखटके उठा सकेगा।

Then shalt thou have boldness before the Lord, looking up cheerfully to heaven.

27 २७ और तू उससे प्रार्थना करेगा, और वह तेरी सुनेगा; और तू अपनी मन्नतों को पूरी करेगा।

And he shall hear thee when thou prayest to him, and he shall grant thee [power] to pay thy vows.

28 २८ जो बात तू ठाने वह तुझ से बन भी पड़ेगी, और तेरे मार्गों पर प्रकाश रहेगा।

And he shall establish to thee again a habitation of righteousness and there shall be light upon thy paths.

29 २९ मनुष्य जब गिरता है, तो तू कहता है की वह उठाया जाएगा; क्योंकि वह नम्र मनुष्य को बचाता है।

Because thou hast humbled thyself; and thou shalt say, [Man] has behaved proudly, but he shall save him that is of lowly eyes.

30 ३० वरन् जो निर्दोष न हो उसको भी वह बचाता है; तेरे शुद्ध कामों के कारण तू छुड़ाया जाएगा।”

He shall deliver the innocent, and do thou save thyself by thy pure hands.
