यिर्मयाह 5
1 १ यरूशलेम की सड़कों में इधर-उधर दौड़कर देखो! उसके चौकों में ढूँढ़ो यदि कोई ऐसा मिल सके जो न्याय से काम करे और सच्चाई का खोजी हो; तो मैं उसका पाप क्षमा करूँगा।
[Yahweh said to the people of Jerusalem], “Go up and down every street. Search in the marketplaces to find people who do what is fair/right, who try to be faithful to me. [If you find even one person like that], I will forgive [the people of Jerusalem and not destroy] their city.
But when people there say, ‘I solemnly declare that as surely as Yahweh lives, [I will do what he says],’ they are lying.”
3 ३ हे यहोवा, क्या तेरी दृष्टि सच्चाई पर नहीं है? तूने उनको दुःख दिया, परन्तु वे शोकित नहीं हुए; तूने उनको नाश किया, परन्तु उन्होंने ताड़ना से भी नहीं माना। उन्होंने अपना मन चट्टान से भी अधिक कठोर किया है; उन्होंने पश्चाताप करने से इन्कार किया है।
Yahweh, you are certainly [RHQ] searching for [people who tell the] truth. You struck/punished your people, but they did not pay any attention. You crushed them, but they ignored what you were telling them to do. They were extremely stubborn [IDM] and refused to return to you.
4 ४ फिर मैंने सोचा, “ये लोग तो कंगाल और मूर्ख ही हैं; क्योंकि ये यहोवा का मार्ग और अपने परमेश्वर का नियम नहीं जानते।
I thought, “[We cannot expect] these [people to act righteously, because they] are poor; they do not have any sense. They do not know the way Yahweh wants them to conduct their lives; they do not know what God requires them to do.
5 ५ इसलिए मैं बड़े लोगों के पास जाकर उनको सुनाऊँगा; क्योंकि वे तो यहोवा का मार्ग और अपने परमेश्वर का नियम जानते हैं।” परन्तु उन सभी ने मिलकर जूए को तोड़ दिया है और बन्धनों को खोल डाला है।
So, I will go and talk to their leaders, because they [surely] know how God wants them to conduct their lives.” But they also have stopped obeying Yahweh [MET], and they will not allow him to lead them.
6 ६ इस कारण वन में से एक सिंह आकर उन्हें मार डालेगा, निर्जल देश का एक भेड़िया उनको नाश करेगा। और एक चीता उनके नगरों के पास घात लगाए रहेगा, और जो कोई उनमें से निकले वह फाड़ा जाएगा; क्योंकि उनके अपराध बहुत बढ़ गए हैं और वे मुझसे बहुत ही दूर हट गए हैं।
Because of that, lions will come out of the forests and kill them; wolves from the desert will attack them; leopards that lurk/wait outside their cities will maul anyone who walks outside the cities. [Those things will happen] because the people have sinned very much against God and have turned away from him very frequently.
7 ७ “मैं क्यों तेरा पाप क्षमा करूँ? तेरे लड़कों ने मुझ को छोड़कर उनकी शपथ खाई है जो परमेश्वर नहीं है। जब मैंने उनका पेट भर दिया, तब उन्होंने व्यभिचार किया और वेश्याओं के घरों में भीड़ की भीड़ जाते थे।
Yahweh says, “I cannot [RHQ] forgive these people; [even] their children have abandoned me. When they solemnly declare something, they ask their gods [to show that what they say is true]. I gave my people everything that they needed, but they often went to [the shrines of their idols] and committed adultery there.
[Just like] [MET] well-fed male horses neigh, wanting sex with female horses, each of the men desires to have sex with his neighbor’s wife.
9 ९ क्या मैं ऐसे कामों का उन्हें दण्ड न दूँ? यहोवा की यह वाणी है; क्या मैं ऐसी जाति से अपना पलटा न लूँ?
(Should I not punish them for this [RHQ]?/I will certainly get revenge on this nation for this!) I will certainly get revenge [RHQ] on this nation whose people behave like that!
10 १० “शहरपनाह पर चढ़कर उसका नाश तो करो, तो भी उसका अन्त मत कर डालो; उसकी जड़ रहने दो परन्तु उसकी डालियों को तोड़कर फेंक दो, क्योंकि वे यहोवा की नहीं हैं।
[I will say to your enemies], ‘The people [of Judah and Israel are like a vineyard]. Go along the rows in their vineyards and get rid of [most of] the people, but do not kill all of them. These people do not belong to me, [so get rid of them], [like a gardener] [MET] lops/cuts off branches from a vine.
The people of Israel and Judah have turned away from me completely.’
12 १२ “उन्होंने यहोवा की बातें झुठलाकर कहा, ‘वह ऐसा नहीं है; विपत्ति हम पर न पड़ेगी, न हम तलवार को और न अकाल को देखेंगे।
They have lied about me and said, ‘He will not punish us! He will not cause us to experience disasters! We will not experience wars or famines!
What [God’s] prophets say is nothing but hot air! They do not have messages [from God]! We would like [the disasters that they predict] to happen to them!’”
14 १४ इस कारण सेनाओं का परमेश्वर यहोवा यह कहता है: “ये लोग जो ऐसा कहते हैं, इसलिए देख, मैं अपना वचन तेरे मुँह में आग, और इस प्रजा को काठ बनाऊँगा, और वह उनको भस्म करेगी।
So, this is what Yahweh, the Commander of the armies of angels in heaven, has said to me: “Because my people are saying those things, I will give you a message to tell them [MTY] that will be [like] [MET] a fire, and [these people will be like] [MET] wood that the fire will burn up.
15 १५ यहोवा की यह वाणी है, हे इस्राएल के घराने, देख, मैं तुम्हारे विरुद्ध दूर से ऐसी जाति को चढ़ा लाऊँगा जो सामर्थी और प्राचीन है, उसकी भाषा तुम न समझोगे, और न यह जानोगे कि वे लोग क्या कह रहे हैं।
Listen to this, you people of Israel: I will bring [the army of] a distant nation to attack you. It is a very powerful nation that has existed for a long time. They speak a language that you do not know and which you will not be able to understand.
Their soldiers are all very strong, and the arrows from their quivers [MET] will (send many Israeli men to their graves/cause many Israeli people to die).
17 १७ तुम्हारे पके खेत और भोजनवस्तुएँ जो तुम्हारे बेटे-बेटियों के खाने के लिये हैं उन्हें वे खा जाएँगे। वे तुम्हारी भेड़-बकरियों और गाय-बैलों को खा डालेंगे; वे तुम्हारी दाखों और अंजीरों को खा जाएँगे; और जिन गढ़वाले नगरों पर तुम भरोसा रखते हो उन्हें वे तलवार के बल से नाश कर देंगे।”
They will eat the food that you have harvested from your fields, and eat your bread. They will kill your sons and daughters, and they will kill your flocks [of sheep] and herds [of cattle]. They will eat your grapes and your figs. They will [also] destroy your cities that have high walls around them and kill the people with their swords.
But even when those things happen, I will not get rid of all of you.
19 १९ जब तुम पूछोगे, ‘हमारे परमेश्वर यहोवा ने हम से ये सब काम किस लिये किए हैं,’ तब तुम उनसे कहना, ‘जिस प्रकार से तुम ने मुझ को त्याग कर अपने देश में दूसरे देवताओं की सेवा की है, उसी प्रकार से तुम को पराए देश में परदेशियों की सेवा करनी पड़ेगी।’”
And when the survivors ask, ‘Why is Yahweh our God doing this to us?’ you will tell them, ‘You rejected him and worshiped foreign gods in your [own] land, so [now] you will become slaves of foreigners in a land that is not your land.’”
[Yahweh said to me], “Proclaim this to the people of Israel and Judah:
21 २१ “हे मूर्ख और निर्बुद्धि लोगों, तुम जो आँखें रहते हुए नहीं देखते, जो कान रहते हुए नहीं सुनते, यह सुनो।
Listen to this, you people who are foolish and who do not have any sense: You have eyes, but [it is as though] you cannot see; you have ears, but [it is as though] you cannot hear.
22 २२ यहोवा की यह वाणी है, क्या तुम लोग मेरा भय नहीं मानते? क्या तुम मेरे सम्मुख नहीं थरथराते? मैंने रेत को समुद्र की सीमा ठहराकर युग-युग का ऐसा बाँध ठहराया कि वह उसे पार न कर सके; और चाहे उसकी लहरें भी उठें, तो भी वे प्रबल न हो सके, या जब वे गरजें तो भी उसको न पार कर सके।
Why do you not revere me [RHQ]? You should [RHQ] tremble when you are in my presence! I, Yahweh, am the one who put a barrier along the shores so that the waters of the ocean cannot cross it [and flood the land]. The waves roll and roar, but they cannot go past that barrier.
But you people [are not like the waves that obey me]. You people are very stubborn and rebellious. You have constantly turned away from me.
24 २४ वे मन में इतना भी नहीं सोचते कि हमारा परमेश्वर यहोवा तो बरसात के आरम्भ और अन्त दोनों समयों का जल समय पर बरसाता है, और कटनी के नियत सप्ताहों को हमारे लिये रखता है, इसलिए हम उसका भय मानें।
You do not say to yourselves, ‘We should revere Yahweh our God, the one who sends us rain at the times when we need it, the one who causes the grain to become ripe at the harvest season.’
25 २५ परन्तु तुम्हारे अधर्म के कामों ही के कारण वे रुक गए, और तुम्हारे पापों ही के कारण तुम्हारी भलाई नहीं होती।
It is because of the wrong things that you have done, that those good things have not happened; it is because of the sins that you have committed that you have been prevented from receiving those blessings.
26 २६ मेरी प्रजा में दुष्ट लोग पाए जाते हैं; जैसे चिड़ीमार ताक में रहते हैं, वैसे ही वे भी घात लगाए रहते हैं। वे फंदा लगाकर मनुष्यों को अपने वश में कर लेते हैं।
Among my people are wicked people who hide along the roads to ambush/attack people like [SIM] men who hunt birds (put out nets/set traps) to catch them.
27 २७ जैसा पिंजड़ा चिड़ियों से भरा हो, वैसे ही उनके घर छल से भरे रहते हैं; इसी प्रकार वे बढ़ गए और धनी हो गए हैं।
Like [a hunter has] a cage full of birds [that he has captured], their homes are full of things that they have gotten by deceiving others. So now they are [very] rich and powerful.
28 २८ वे मोटे और चिकने हो गए हैं। बुरे कामों में वे सीमा को पार कर गए हैं; वे न्याय, विशेष करके अनाथों का न्याय नहीं चुकाते; इससे उनका काम सफल नहीं होता वे कंगालों का हक़ भी नहीं दिलाते।
They are big and fat, and there is no limit to the evil things that they have done. They do not try to defend orphans in the courtrooms, and they do not help poor people to get what they have a right to receive.
29 २९ इसलिए, यहोवा की यह वाणी है, क्या मैं इन बातों का दण्ड न दूँ? क्या मैं ऐसी जाति से पलटा न लूँ?”
So I will certainly [RHQ] punish them for doing those things. I will certainly [RHQ] (get revenge on their nation/do to their nation what they deserve).
Very appalling/horrible and terrible [DOU] things are happening in this country:
31 ३१ भविष्यद्वक्ता झूठमूठ भविष्यद्वाणी करते हैं; और याजक उनके सहारे से प्रभुता करते हैं; मेरी प्रजा को यह भाता भी है, परन्तु अन्त के समय तुम क्या करोगे?
Prophets speak [only] lies and priests rule by their own authority, and you people like that! But when you [start to] experience disasters, what will you do [RHQ]?”
