And his son Jehoshaphat reigns in his stead, and he strengthens himself against Israel,
2 २ उसने यहूदा के सब गढ़वाले नगरों में सिपाहियों के दल ठहरा दिए, और यहूदा के देश में और एप्रैम के उन नगरों में भी जो उसके पिता आसा ने ले लिये थे, सिपाहियों की चौकियाँ बैठा दीं।
and puts a force in all the fortified cities of Judah, and puts garrisons in the land of Judah, and in the cities of Ephraim that his father Asa had captured.
3 ३ यहोवा यहोशापात के संग रहा, क्योंकि उसने अपने मूलपुरुष दाऊद की प्राचीन चाल का अनुसरण किया और बाल देवताओं की खोज में न लगा।
And YHWH is with Jehoshaphat, for he has walked in the first ways of his father David, and has not sought for the Ba‘alim,
4 ४ वरन् वह अपने पिता के परमेश्वर की खोज में लगा रहता था और उसी की आज्ञाओं पर चलता था, और इस्राएल के से काम नहीं करता था।
for he has sought for the God of his father, and he has walked in His commands, and not according to the work of Israel.
5 ५ इस कारण यहोवा ने राज्य को उसके हाथ में दृढ़ किया, और सारे यहूदी उसके पास भेंट लाया करते थे, और उसके पास बहुत धन हो गया और उसका वैभव बढ़ गया।
And YHWH establishes the kingdom in his hand, and all Judah gives a present to Jehoshaphat, and he has riches and honor in abundance,
6 ६ यहोवा के मार्गों पर चलते-चलते उसका मन मगन हो गया; फिर उसने यहूदा से ऊँचे स्थान और अशेरा नामक मूरतें दूर कर दीं।
and his heart is high in the ways of YHWH, and again he has turned aside the high places and the Asherim out of Judah.
7 ७ उसने अपने राज्य के तीसरे वर्ष में बेन्हैल, ओबद्याह, जकर्याह, नतनेल और मीकायाह नामक अपने हाकिमों को यहूदा के नगरों में शिक्षा देने को भेज दिया।
And in the third year of his reign he has sent for his heads, for Ben-Hail, and for Obadiah, and for Zechariah, and for Nethaneel, and for Michaiah, to teach in cities of Judah;
8 ८ उनके साथ शमायाह, नतन्याह, जबद्याह, असाहेल, शमीरामोत, यहोनातान, अदोनिय्याह, तोबियाह और तोबदोनिय्याह, नामक लेवीय और उनके संग एलीशामा और यहोराम नामक याजक थे।
and with them the Levites: Shemaiah, and Nethaniah, and Zebadiah, and Asahel, and Shemiramoth, and Jonathan, and Adonijah, and Tobijath, and Tob-Adonijah—the Levites; and with them Elishama and Jehoram, the priests.
9 ९ अतः उन्होंने यहोवा की व्यवस्था की पुस्तक अपने साथ लिये हुए यहूदा में शिक्षा दी, वरन् वे यहूदा के सब नगरों में प्रजा को सिखाते हुए घूमे।
And they teach in Judah, and the Scroll of the Law of YHWH [is] with them, and they go around into all cities of Judah, and teach among the people.
10 १० यहूदा के आस-पास के देशों के राज्य-राज्य में यहोवा का ऐसा डर समा गया, कि उन्होंने यहोशापात से युद्ध न किया।
And there is a fear of YHWH on all kingdoms of the lands that [are] around Judah, and they have not fought with Jehoshaphat;
11 ११ कुछ पलिश्ती यहोशापात के पास भेंट और कर समझकर चाँदी लाए; और अरब के लोग भी सात हजार सात सौ मेढ़े और सात हजार सात सौ बकरे ले आए।
and [some] from the Philistines are bringing a present to Jehoshaphat, and silver [as] tribute; also, the Arabians are bringing to him a flock of seven thousand and seven hundred rams, and seven thousand and seven hundred male goats.
And Jehoshaphat is going on and becoming very great, and he builds palaces and cities of store in Judah,
13 १३ और यहूदा के नगरों में उसका बहुत काम होता था, और यरूशलेम में उसके योद्धा अर्थात् शूरवीर रहते थे।
and he has much work in cities of Judah; and men of war, mighty men of valor, [are] in Jerusalem.
14 १४ इनके पितरों के घरानों के अनुसार इनकी यह गिनती थी, अर्थात् यहूदी सहस्त्रपति तो ये थे, प्रधान अदनह जिसके साथ तीन लाख शूरवीर थे,
And these [are] their numbers, for the house of their fathers—of Judah, heads of thousands: Adnah the head, and with him three hundred thousand mighty men of valor;
and at his hand [is] Jehohanan the head, and with him two hundred and eighty thousand;
16 १६ और इसके बाद जिक्री का पुत्र अमस्याह, जिसने अपने को अपनी ही इच्छा से यहोवा को अर्पण किया था, उसके साथ दो लाख शूरवीर थे।
and at his hand [is] Amasiah son of Zichri, who is willingly offering himself to YHWH, and with him two hundred thousand mighty men of valor.
And of Benjamin, mighty men of valor: Eliada, and with him two hundred thousand armed with bow and shield;
and at his hand [is] Jehozabad, and with him one hundred and eighty thousand armed ones of the host.
19 १९ ये वे हैं, जो राजा की सेवा में लौलीन थे। ये उनसे अलग थे जिन्हें राजा ने सारे यहूदा के गढ़वाले नगरों में ठहरा दिया।
These [are] those serving the king, apart from those whom the king put in the fortress cities in all of Judah.
