1 १ अब मैं सबसे पहले यह आग्रह करता हूँ, कि विनती, प्रार्थना, निवेदन, धन्यवाद, सब मनुष्यों के लिये किए जाएँ।
I exhort therefore first of all to be made entreaties, prayers intercessions, [and] thanksgivings on behalf of all men,
2 २ राजाओं और सब ऊँचे पदवालों के निमित्त इसलिए कि हम विश्राम और चैन के साथ सारी भक्ति और गरिमा में जीवन बिताएँ।
for kings and all those in authority being, so that a tranquil and quiet life we may lead in all godliness and in [all] dignity.
3 ३ यह हमारे उद्धारकर्ता परमेश्वर को अच्छा लगता और भाता भी है,
This (for *k*) [is] good and acceptable before the Savior of us God,
4 ४ जो यह चाहता है, कि सब मनुष्यों का उद्धार हो; और वे सत्य को भली भाँति पहचान लें।
who all men desires to be saved and to [the] knowledge of [the] truth to come.
5 ५ क्योंकि परमेश्वर एक ही है, और परमेश्वर और मनुष्यों के बीच में भी एक ही बिचवई है, अर्थात् मसीह यीशु जो मनुष्य है,
One for God [there is], one then mediator between God and men, [the] man Christ Jesus
6 ६ जिसने अपने आपको सब के छुटकारे के दाम में दे दिया; ताकि उसकी गवाही ठीक समयों पर दी जाए।
the [One] having given Himself [as] a ransom for all, the testimony proper times in [their] own,
7 ७ मैं सच कहता हूँ, झूठ नहीं बोलता, कि मैं इसी उद्देश्य से प्रचारक और प्रेरित और अन्यजातियों के लिये विश्वास और सत्य का उपदेशक ठहराया गया।
in regard to which was appointed I myself a herald and an apostle — [the] truth I am speaking (in Christ *K*) not I do lie — a teacher of [the] Gentiles in faith and truth.
8 ८ इसलिए मैं चाहता हूँ, कि हर जगह पुरुष बिना क्रोध और विवाद के पवित्र हाथों को उठाकर प्रार्थना किया करें।
I desire therefore to pray the men in every place lifting up holy hands apart from anger and (dissension; *NK(O)*)
9 ९ वैसे ही स्त्रियाँ भी संकोच और संयम के साथ सुहावने वस्त्रों से अपने आपको संवारे; न कि बाल गूँथने, सोने, मोतियों, और बहुमूल्य कपड़ों से,
likewise also (*k*) women in apparel respectable with modesty and self-control adorning themselves, not with braided hair (or with gold *N(k)O*) or with pearls or with clothing costly,
10 १० पर भले कामों से, क्योंकि परमेश्वर की भक्ति करनेवाली स्त्रियों को यही उचित भी है।
but with what is becoming to women professing [the] fear of God, through works good.
11 ११ और स्त्री को चुपचाप पूरी अधीनता में सीखना चाहिए।
A woman in quietness should learn in all submissiveness;
12 १२ मैं कहता हूँ, कि स्त्री न उपदेश करे और न पुरुष पर अधिकार चलाए, परन्तु चुपचाप रहे।
To teach however a woman not I do permit nor to use authority over a man but to be in quietness.
13 १३ क्योंकि आदम पहले, उसके बाद हव्वा बनाई गई।
Adam for first was formed, then Eve.
14 १४ और आदम बहकाया न गया, पर स्त्री बहकावे में आकर अपराधिनी हुई।
And Adam not was deceived, but the woman (having been deceived *N(k)O*) into transgression has come;
15 १५ तो भी स्त्री बच्चे जनने के द्वारा उद्धार पाएगी, यदि वह संयम सहित विश्वास, प्रेम, और पवित्रता में स्थिर रहे।
She will be saved however through childbearing if they shall abide in faith and in love and in holiness with self-restraint.
