1 शमूएल 28
1 १ उन दिनों में पलिश्तियों ने इस्राएल से लड़ने के लिये अपनी सेना इकट्ठी की तब आकीश ने दाऊद से कहा, “निश्चय जान कि तुझे अपने जवानों समेत मेरे साथ सेना में जाना होगा।”
And it comes to pass in those days, that the Philistines gather their camps for the war, to fight against Israel, and Achish says to David, “You certainly know that you go out with me into the camp, you and your men.”
2 २ दाऊद ने आकीश से कहा, “इस कारण तू जान लेगा कि तेरा दास क्या करेगा।” आकीश ने दाऊद से कहा, “इस कारण मैं तुझे अपने सिर का रक्षक सदा के लिये ठहराऊँगा।”
And David says to Achish, “Therefore you know that which your servant does.” And Achish says to David, “Therefore I appoint you keeper of my head [for] all the days.”
3 ३ शमूएल तो मर गया था, और समस्त इस्राएलियों ने उसके विषय छाती पीटी, और उसको उसके नगर रामाह में मिट्टी दी थी। और शाऊल ने ओझों और भूत-सिद्धि करनेवालों को देश से निकाल दिया था।
And Samuel has died, and all Israel mourns for him, and buries him in Ramah, even in his city, and Saul has turned aside those having familiar spirits, and the wizards, out of the land.
4 ४ जब पलिश्ती इकट्ठे हुए और शूनेम में छावनी डाली, तो शाऊल ने सब इस्राएलियों को इकट्ठा किया, और उन्होंने गिलबो में छावनी डाली।
And the Philistines are gathered, and come in, and encamp in Shunem, and Saul gathers all Israel, and they encamp in Gilboa,
and Saul sees the camp of the Philistines, and fears, and his heart trembles greatly,
6 ६ और जब शाऊल ने यहोवा से पूछा, तब यहोवा ने न तो स्वप्न के द्वारा उसे उत्तर दिया, और न ऊरीम के द्वारा, और न भविष्यद्वक्ताओं के द्वारा।
and Saul inquires of YHWH, and YHWH has not answered him, either by the dreams, or by the Lights, or by the prophets.
7 ७ तब शाऊल ने अपने कर्मचारियों से कहा, “मेरे लिये किसी भूत-सिद्धि करनेवाली को ढूँढ़ो, कि मैं उसके पास जाकर उससे पूछूँ।” उसके कर्मचारियों ने उससे कहा, “एनदोर में एक भूत-सिद्धि करनेवाली रहती है।”
And Saul says to his servants, “Seek a woman for me possessing a familiar spirit, and I go to her, and inquire of her”; and his servants say to him, “Behold, a woman possessing a familiar spirit [is] in En-dor.”
8 ८ तब शाऊल ने अपना भेष बदला, और दूसरे कपड़े पहनकर, दो मनुष्य संग लेकर, रातों-रात चलकर उस स्त्री के पास गया; और कहा, “अपने सिद्धि भूत से मेरे लिये भावी कहलवा, और जिसका नाम मैं लूँगा उसे बुलवा दे।”
And Saul disguises himself and puts on other garments, and goes, he and two of the men with him, and they come to the woman by night, and he says, “Please divine to me by the familiar spirit, and cause him whom I say to you to come up to me.”
9 ९ स्त्री ने उससे कहा, “तू जानता है कि शाऊल ने क्या किया है, कि उसने ओझों और भूत-सिद्धि करनेवालों का देश से नाश किया है। फिर तू मेरे प्राण के लिये क्यों फंदा लगाता है कि मुझे मरवा डाले।”
And the woman says to him, “Behold, you have known that which Saul has done, that he has cut off those having familiar spirits, and the wizards, out of the land; and why are you laying a snare for my soul—to put me to death?”
10 १० शाऊल ने यहोवा की शपथ खाकर उससे कहा, “यहोवा के जीवन की शपथ, इस बात के कारण तुझे दण्ड न मिलेगा।”
And Saul swears to her by YHWH, saying, “YHWH lives, punishment does not meet you for this thing.”
And the woman says, “Whom do I bring up to you?” And he says, “Bring up Samuel to me.”
12 १२ जब स्त्री ने शमूएल को देखा, तब ऊँचे शब्द से चिल्लाई; और शाऊल से कहा, “तूने मुझे क्यों धोखा दिया? तू तो शाऊल है।”
And the woman sees Samuel, and cries with a loud voice, and the woman speaks to Saul, saying, “Why have you deceived me? For you [are] Saul!”
13 १३ राजा ने उससे कहा, “मत डर; तुझे क्या देख पड़ता है?” स्त्री ने शाऊल से कहा, “मुझे एक देवता पृथ्वी में से चढ़ता हुआ दिखाई पड़ता है।”
And the king says to her, “Do not fear; for what have you seen?” And the woman says to Saul, “I have seen gods coming up out of the earth.”
14 १४ उसने उससे पूछा, “उसका कैसा रूप है?” उसने कहा, “एक बूढ़ा पुरुष बागा ओढ़े हुए चढ़ा आता है।” तब शाऊल ने निश्चय जानकर कि वह शमूएल है, औंधे मुँह भूमि पर गिरकर दण्डवत् किया।
And he says to her, “What [is] his form?” And she says, “An aged man is coming up, and he [is] covered with an upper robe”; and Saul knows that he [is] Samuel, and bows—face to her earth—and pays respect.
15 १५ शमूएल ने शाऊल से पूछा, “तूने मुझे ऊपर बुलवाकर क्यों सताया है?” शाऊल ने कहा, “मैं बड़े संकट में पड़ा हूँ; क्योंकि पलिश्ती मेरे साथ लड़ रहे हैं और परमेश्वर ने मुझे छोड़ दिया, और अब मुझे न तो भविष्यद्वक्ताओं के द्वारा उत्तर देता है, और न स्वप्नों के; इसलिए मैंने तुझे बुलाया कि तू मुझे जता दे कि मैं क्या करूँ।”
And Samuel says to Saul, “Why have you troubled me, to bring me up?” And Saul says, “I have great distress, and the Philistines are fighting against me, God has turned aside from me, and has not answered me anymore, either by the hand of the prophets, or by dreams; and I call for you to let me know what I [should] do.”
And Samuel says, “And why do you ask me, and YHWH has turned aside from you, and is your enemy?
17 १७ यहोवा ने तो जैसे मुझसे कहलवाया था वैसा ही उसने व्यवहार किया है; अर्थात् उसने तेरे हाथ से राज्य छीनकर तेरे पड़ोसी दाऊद को दे दिया है।
And YHWH does for Himself as He has spoken by my hand, and YHWH tears the kingdom out of your hand, and gives it to your neighbor—to David.
18 १८ तूने जो यहोवा की बात न मानी, और न अमालेकियों को उसके भड़के हुए कोप के अनुसार दण्ड दिया था, इस कारण यहोवा ने तुझ से आज ऐसा बर्ताव किया।
Because you have not listened to the voice of YHWH, nor did the fierceness of His anger on Amalek—therefore YHWH has done this thing to you this day;
19 १९ फिर यहोवा तुझ समेत इस्राएलियों को पलिश्तियों के हाथ में कर देगा; और तू अपने बेटों समेत कल मेरे साथ होगा; और इस्राएली सेना को भी यहोवा पलिश्तियों के हाथ में कर देगा।”
indeed, YHWH also gives Israel into the hand of the Philistines with you, and tomorrow you and your sons [are] with me; YHWH also gives the camp of Israel into the hand of the Philistines.”
20 २० तब शाऊल तुरन्त मुँह के बल भूमि पर गिर पड़ा, और शमूएल की बातों के कारण अत्यन्त डर गया; उसने पूरे दिन और रात भोजन न किया था, इससे उसमें बल कुछ भी न रहा।
And Saul hurries and falls—the fullness of his stature—to the earth, and fears greatly because of the words of Samuel; also power was not in him, for he had not eaten bread all the day, and all the night.
21 २१ तब वह स्त्री शाऊल के पास गई, और उसको अति व्याकुल देखकर उससे कहा, “सुन, तेरी दासी ने तो तेरी बात मानी; और मैंने अपने प्राण पर खेलकर तेरे वचनों को सुन लिया जो तूने मुझसे कहा।
And the woman comes to Saul, and sees that he has been greatly troubled, and says to him, “Behold, your maidservant has listened to your voice, and I put my soul in my hand, and I obey your words which you have spoken to me;
22 २२ तो अब तू भी अपनी दासी की बात मान; और मैं तेरे सामने एक टुकड़ा रोटी रखूँ; तू उसे खा, कि जब तू अपना मार्ग ले तब तुझे बल आ जाए।”
and now, please listen, you also, to the voice of your maidservant, and I set a morsel of bread before you; and eat, and there is power in you when you go in the way.”
23 २३ उसने इन्कार करके कहा, “मैं न खाऊँगा।” परन्तु उसके सेवकों और स्त्री ने मिलकर यहाँ तक उसे दबाया कि वह उनकी बात मानकर, भूमि पर से उठकर खाट पर बैठ गया।
And he refuses and says, “I do not eat”; and his servants urge him on, and also the woman, and he listens to their voice, and rises from the earth, and sits on the bed.
24 २४ स्त्री के घर में तो एक तैयार किया हुआ बछड़ा था, उसने फुर्ती करके उसे मारा, फिर आटा लेकर गूँधा, और अख़मीरी रोटी बनाकर
And the woman has a calf of the stall in the house, and she hurries and slaughters it, and takes flour, and kneads, and bakes it [into] unleavened things,
and brings [them] near before Saul, and before his servants, and they eat, and rise, and go on during that night.
