1 अपने बिछौने पर मैं हर रात उसका इंतजार करती रही, जो मुझे प्राणों से भी प्रिय है; मैं उसे खोजती रही, मगर मेरी खोज बेकार रही.
In my bed by night I sought him that my soule loued: I sought him, but I found him not.
2 अब ठीक तो यही होगा कि मैं उठूं और नगर में जाकर खोज करूं, गलियों में और चौकों में; यह ज़रूरी है कि मैं उसे खोजूं, जो मेरे लिए प्राणों से भी अधिक प्रिय है. मैं खोजती रही, किंतु मेरी खोज बेकार ही रही.
I will rise therefore nowe, and goe about in the citie, by the streetes and by the open places, and wil seeke him that my soule loueth: I sought him, but I found him not.
3 वे पहरेदार, जो नगर में घूमते रहते हैं, उनसे मेरी मुलाकात हुई. मैंने उनसे पूछा, “क्या तुमने उसे देखा है, जो मुझे प्राणों से प्रिय है?”
The watchmen that went about the citie, found mee: to whome I said, Haue you seene him, whome my soule loueth?
4 मैं पहरेदारों से कुछ ही दूर गई थी, कि वह मुझे मिल गया, जो मेरे लिए प्राणों से भी अधिक प्रिय है, मैं उससे लिपट गई, मैंने उसे जाने न दिया, तब मैं उसे अपनी माता के घर पर ले गई, उसके कमरे में, जिसने मुझे अपने गर्भ में धारण किया था.
When I had past a litle from them, then I found him whom my soule loued: I tooke holde on him and left him not, till I had brought him vnto my mothers house into the chamber of her that conceiued me.
5 येरूशलेम की कन्याओ, तुम्हें मैदान के हिरणों तथा हिरणियों की शपथ, मुझको वचन दो, जब तक सही समय न आए, मेरे प्रेम को न जगाना.
I charge you, O daughters of Ierusalem, by the roes and by the hindes of the fielde, that ye stirre not vp, nor waken my loue vntill she please.
6 रेगिस्तान की दिशा से धुएं के खंभे के समान यह क्या बढ़ा चला आ रहा है, यह लोबान और गन्धरस से सुगंधित है, व्यापारियों के सारे चूर्णों से भी सुगंधित?
Who is shee that commeth vp out of the wildernes like pillars of smoke perfumed with myrrhe and incense, and with all the spices of the marchant?
7 देखो-देखो, यह शलोमोन की पालकी है, साठ योद्धा उसे घेरे हुए हैं, ये इस्राएल के शूरवीरों में से चुने हुए हैं.
Beholde his bed, which is Salomons: threescore strong men are round about it, of the valiant men of Israel.
8 वे सभी तलवार लिए हुए हैं, युद्ध कला में बेहतरीन, हर एक ने अपनी तलवार अपने पास रखी है, ये रात के आतंक का सामना करने के लिए पूरी तरह से तैयार हैं.
They all handle the sworde, and are expert in warre, euery one hath his sword vpon his thigh for the feare by night.
9 यह पालकी राजा शलोमोन ने अपने लिए बनवाई है; इसमें इस्तेमाल की गई लकड़ी लबानोन से लाई गई थी.
King Salomon made himselfe a palace of the trees of Lebanon.
10 इसके खंभे चांदी के, तथा सतह सोने का है. इसमें बैठने के स्थान के लिए बैंगनी वस्त्र का इस्तेमाल हुआ है, इसके अंदर के भाग को येरूशलेम की कन्याओं द्वारा प्रेम से मढ़ दिया गया है.
Hee made the pillars thereof of siluer, and the pauement thereof of gold, the hangings thereof of purple, whose middes was paued with the loue of the daughters of Ierusalem.
11 ज़ियोन की कन्याओ, आगे बढ़ो, मुकुट पहने हुए महाराज शलोमोन को निहारो, यह उसकी माता ने उसे पहनाया है, यह उसके विवाह का दिन है, यह वह दिन है, जब वह बहुत ही खुश है.
Come forth, ye daughters of Zion, and behold the King Salomon with the crowne, wherewith his mother crowned him in ye day of his mariage, and in the day of the gladnes of his heart.
