रोमियों 7

1 प्रिय भाई बहिनो, तुम जो व्यवस्था से परिचित हो, क्या तुम्हें यह मालूम नहीं कि किसी भी व्यक्ति पर व्यवस्था की प्रभुता उसी समय तक रहती है जब तक वह जीवित है?

Or do ye not know, my Brethren.-(for I am speaking to them that know the law, )- that the law hath dominion over a man, as long as he is alive?

2 कानूनी तौर पर विवाहित स्त्री अपने पति से उसी समय तक बंधी रहती है जब तक उसका पति जीवित है, किंतु पति की मृत्यु होने पर वह कानूनी रूप से अपने पति से मुक्त हो जाती है.

Just as a woman, by the law, is bound to her husband, as long as he is alive: but if her husband should die, she is freed from the law of her husband.

3 यदि अपने पति के जीवित रहते हुए वह किसी अन्य पुरुष से संबंध बनाती है तो वह व्यभिचारिणी कहलाती है किंतु अपने पति की मृत्यु के बाद वह कानूनी रूप से स्वतंत्र हो जाती है और अन्य पुरुष से विवाह करने पर व्यभिचारिणी नहीं कहलाती.

And if, while her husband is alive, she should adhere to another man, she would become an adulteress: but if her husband should die, she is freed from the law; and would not be an adulteress though joined to another man.

4 इसलिये मेरे प्रिय भाई बहिनो, तुम भी मसीह के शरीर के द्वारा व्यवस्था के प्रति मरे हुए हो कि तुम अन्य से जुड़ जाओ—उनसे, जो मरे हुओं में से जीवित किए गए कि परमेश्वर के लिए हमारा जीवन फलदायी हो.

And now, my brethren, ye also have become dead to the law, by the body of Messiah; that ye might be joined to another, even to him who arose from the dead; and might yield fruits unto God.

5 जिस समय हम पाप के स्वभाव द्वारा नियंत्रित थे, पाप की लालसाएं, जो व्यवस्था द्वारा उत्तेजित की जाती थी, मृत्यु के फल के लिए हमारे अंगों में सक्रिय थी,

For while we were in the flesh, the emotions of sin which are by the law, were active in our members, that we should bear fruits unto death.

6 किंतु अब हम उसके प्रति मरे सरीखे होकर, जिसने हमें बांध रखा था, व्यवस्था से स्वतंत्र कर दिए गए हैं कि हम व्यवस्था द्वारा स्थापित पुरानी रीति पर नहीं परंतु पवित्र आत्मा द्वारा एक नई रीति में सेवा करने लग जाएं.

But now we are absolved from the law, and are dead to that which held us in its grasp: that we might henceforth serve in the newness of the spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter.

7 तब क्या इससे यह सिद्ध होता है कि व्यवस्था दोषी है? नहीं! बिलकुल नहीं! इसके विपरीत, व्यवस्था के बिना मेरे लिए पाप को पहचानना ही असंभव होता. मुझे लोभ के विषय में ज्ञान ही न होता यदि व्यवस्था यह आज्ञा न देता: लोभ मत करो.

What shall we say then? Is the law sin?, Far be it. For I had not learned sin, except by means of the law: for I had not known concupiscence, had not the law said, Thou shalt not covet:

8 पाप ने ही आज्ञा के माध्यम से अच्छा अवसर मिलने पर मुझमें हर एक प्रकार का लालच उत्पन्‍न कर दिया. यही कारण है कि व्यवस्था के बिना पाप मृत है.

and by this commandment, sin found occasion, and perfected in me all concupiscence: for without the law, sin was dead.

9 एक समय था जब मैं व्यवस्था से स्वतंत्र अवस्था में जीवित था किंतु जब आज्ञा का आगमन हुआ, पाप जीवित हुआ

And I, without the law, was alive formerly; but when the commandment came, sin became alive, and I died;

10 और मेरी मृत्यु हो गई, और वह आज्ञा जिससे मुझे जीवित होना था, मेरी मृत्यु का कारण बनी

and the commandment of life was found by me to be unto death.

11 क्योंकि पाप ने, आज्ञा में के अवसर का लाभ उठाते हुए मुझे भटका दिया और इसी के माध्यम से मेरी हत्या भी कर दी.

For sin, by the occasion which it found by means of the commandment, seduced me; and thereby slew me.

12 इसलिये व्यवस्था पवित्र है और आज्ञा पवित्र, धर्मी और भली है.

Wherefore, the law is holy; and the commandment is holy, and righteous, and good.

13 तब, क्या वह, जो भला है, मेरे लिए मृत्यु का कारण हो गया? नहीं! बिलकुल नहीं! भलाई के द्वारा पाप ने मुझमें मृत्यु उत्पन्‍न कर दी कि पाप को पाप ही के रूप में प्रदर्शित किया जाए तथा आज्ञा के द्वारा यह बहुत ही पापमय हो जाए.

Did that which is good, therefore, become death to me? Far be it. But sin, that it might be seen to be sin, perfected death in me by means of that good law; that sin might the more be condemned, by means of the commandment.

14 यह तो हमें मालूम ही है कि व्यवस्था आत्मिक है किंतु मैं हूं शारीरिक—पाप के दासत्व में पूरी तरह बिका हुआ!

For we know, that the law is spiritual; but I am carnal, and sold to sin.

15 यह इसलिये कि यह मेरी समझ से हमेशा से परे है कि मैं क्या करता हूं—मैं वह नहीं करता, जो मैं करना चाहता हूं परंतु मैं वही करता हूं, जिससे मुझे घृणा है.

For what I am doing, I know not: and what I would, I do not perform; but what I hate, that I do.

16 इसलिये यदि मैं वही सब करता हूं, जो मुझे अप्रिय है, तो मैं व्यवस्था से सहमत हूं और स्वीकार करता हूं कि यह सही है.

And if I do what I would not, I testify of the law, that it is right.

17 इसलिये अब ये काम मैं नहीं, मुझमें बसा हुआ पाप करता है.

And then, it is no more I who do that thing; but sin, which dwelleth in me.

18 यह तो मुझे मालूम है कि मुझमें अर्थात् मेरे शरीर में अंदर छिपा हुआ ऐसा कुछ भी नहीं, जो उत्तम हो. अभिलाषा तो मुझमें है किंतु उसका करना मुझसे हो नहीं पाता.

For I know, that in me, (that is, in my flesh, ) good dwelleth not: because, to approve the good, is easy for me; but to do it, I am unable.

19 वह हित, जिसकी मुझमें अभिलाषा है, मुझसे करते नहीं बनता परंतु हो वह जाता है, जिसे मैं करना नहीं चाहता.

For I do not perform the good, which I would perform; but the bad, which I would not perform, that I do perform.

20 तब यदि मैं वह करता हूं, जो मैं करना नहीं चाहता, तब वह मैं नहीं, परंतु मुझमें बसा हुआ पाप ही है, जो यह सब करता है.

And if I do what I would not, it is not I that do it, but sin which dwelleth in me.

21 यहां मुझे इस सच का अहसास होता है कि जब भी मैं भलाई के लिए उतारू होता हूं, वहां मुझसे बुराई हो जाती है.

I find therefore a law coinciding with my conscience, which assenteth to my doing good, whereas evil is near to me.

22 मेरा भीतरी मनुष्यत्व तो परमेश्वर की व्यवस्था में प्रसन्‍न है

For I rejoice in the law of God, in the interior man.

23 किंतु मैं अपने शरीर के अंगों में एक दूसरी व्यवस्था देख रहा हूं. यह मेरे मस्तिष्क में मौजूद व्यवस्था के विरुद्ध लड़ती है. इसने मुझे पाप की व्यवस्था का, जो मेरे शरीर के अंगों में मौजूद है, बंदी बना रखा है.

But I see another law in my members, which warreth against the law of my conscience, and maketh me a captive to the law of sin which existeth in my members

24 कैसी दयनीय स्थिति है मेरी! कौन मुझे मेरी इस मृत्यु के शरीर से छुड़ाएगा?

O, a miserable man, am I! Who will rescue me from this body of death?

25 धन्यवाद हो परमेश्वर का जो हमारे प्रभु येशु मसीह के द्वारा हमें छुड़ाते हैं! एक ओर तो मैं स्वयं अपने मस्तिष्क में परमेश्वर की व्यवस्था का दास हूं किंतु दूसरी ओर अपने शरीर में अपने पाप के स्वभाव का.

I thank God; by means of our Lord Jesus Messiah I shall be rescued. [ (Romans 7:26) Now, therefore, in my conscience, I am a servant of the law of God; but in my flesh, I am a servant of the law of sin. ]
