1 संगीत निर्देशक के लिये. गित्तीथ पर आधारित. आसफ की रचना. परमेश्वर के लिए, जो हमारा बल हैं, आनंद के साथ गाओ; याकोब के परमेश्वर के लिए उच्च स्वरनाद करो!
For the Chief Musician; set to the Gittith. [A Psalm] of Asaph. Sing aloud unto God our strength: Make a joyful noise unto the God of Jacob.
2 संगीत प्रारंभ हो, किन्‍नोर के साथ नेबेल के वादन से, मधुर ध्वनि उत्पन्‍न की जाए.
Raise a song, and bring hither the timbrel, The pleasant harp with the psaltery.
3 नवचंद्र के अवसर पर शोफ़ार बजाओ, वैसे ही पूर्णिमा के अवसर पर, जब हमारा उत्सव होता है;
Blow the trumpet at the new moon, At the full moon, on our feast-day.
4 इस्राएल के लिए यह विधि है, यह याकोब के परमेश्वर का नियम है.
For it is a statute for Israel, An ordinance of the God of Jacob.
5 जब परमेश्वर मिस्र देश के विरुद्ध प्रतिकार के लिए कटिबद्ध हुए, उन्होंने इसे योसेफ़ के लिए अधिनियम स्वरूप बसा दिया. जहां हमने वह भाषा सुनी, जो हमारी समझ से परे थी:
He appointed it in Joseph for a testimony, When he went out over the land of Egypt, [Where] I heard a language that I knew not.
6 “प्रभु ने कहा, मैंने उनके कांधों से बोझ उतार दिया; टोकरी ढोने के कार्य से वे स्वतंत्र हो गए.
I removed his shoulder from the burden: His hands were freed from the basket.
7 जब तुम पर संकट का अवसर आया, तुमने मुझे पुकारा और मैंने तुम्हें छुड़ा लिया, मेघ गरजना में से मैंने तुम्हें उत्तर दिया; मेरिबाह जल पर मैंने तुम्हारी परीक्षा ली.
Thou calledst in trouble, and I delivered thee; I answered thee in the secret place of thunder; I proved thee at the waters of Meribah. (Selah)
8 मेरी प्रजा, मेरी सुनो, कि मैं तुम्हें चिता सकूं, इस्राएल, यदि तुम मात्र मेरी ओर ध्यान दे सको!
Hear, O my people, and I will testify unto thee: O Israel, if thou wouldest hearken unto me!
9 तुम्हारे मध्य वे देवता न पाए जाएं, जो वस्तुतः अनुपयुक्त हैं; तुम उन देवताओं की वंदना न करना.
There shall no strange god be in thee; Neither shalt thou worship any foreign god.
10 मैं, याहवेह, तुम्हारा परमेश्वर हूं, जो तुम्हें मिस्र देश से छुड़ाकर लाया हूं. तुम अपना मुख पूरा-पूरा खोलो कि मैं उसे भर दूं.
I am Jehovah thy God, Who brought thee up out of the land of Egypt: Open thy mouth wide, and I will fill it.
11 “किंतु मेरी प्रजा ने मेरी नहीं सुनी; इस्राएल ने मेरी आज्ञा नहीं मानी.
But my people hearkened not to my voice; And Israel would none of me.
12 तब मैंने उसे उसी के हठीले हृदय के अधीन छोड़ दिया, कि वह अपनी ही युक्तियों की पूर्ति करती रहे.
So I let them go after the stubbornness of their heart, That they might walk in their own counsels.
13 “यदि मेरी प्रजा मात्र मेरी आज्ञा का पालन कर ले, यदि इस्राएल मेरी शिक्षा का पालन कर ले,
Oh that my people would hearken unto me, That Israel would walk in my ways!
14 शीघ्र मैं उसके शत्रुओं का पीछा करूंगा, और उसके शत्रुओं पर मेरा प्रहार होगा!
I would soon subdue their enemies, And turn my hand against their adversaries.
15 जो याहवेह से घृणा करते हैं, वे आज्ञाकारिता का दिखावा करेंगे और उनको बड़ा दंड होगा.
The haters of Jehovah should submit themselves unto him: But their time should endure for ever.
16 किंतु तुम्हारा आहार होगा सर्वोत्तम गेहूं; मैं तुम्हें चट्टान के उत्कृष्ट मधु से तृप्‍त करूंगा.”
He would feed them also with the finest of the wheat; And with honey out of the rock would I satisfy thee.
