भजन संहिता 44
1 संगीत निर्देशक के लिये. कोराह के पुत्रों की रचना. एक मसकील. हे परमेश्वर, हमने अपने कानों से सुना है, पूर्वजों ने उसका उल्लेख किया है, कि प्राचीन काल में, हमारे पूर्वजों के समय में आपने जो कुछ किया है:
“To the chief musician, for the sons of Korach, a Maskil.” O God, with our ears have we heard, our fathers have told us, deeds which thou hadst done in their days, in times of old.
2 अपने भुजबल से आपने जनताओं को निकाल दिया और उनके स्थान पर हमारे पूर्वजों को बसा दिया; आपने उन लोगों को कुचल दिया और हमारे पूर्वजों को समृद्ध बना दिया.
Thou, with thy hand, didst indeed drive out nations, and plant them; thou didst ill-treat people, and cause them to spread out.
3 यह अधिकार उन्होंने अपनी तलवार के बल पर नहीं किया, और न ही यह उनके भुजबल का परिणाम था; यह परिणाम था आपके दायें हाथ, उसकी सामर्थ्य तथा आपके मुख के प्रकाश का, क्योंकि वे आपकी प्रीति के पात्र थे.
For not by their sword did they obtain possession of the land, and their own arm brought them no victory; but thy right hand, and thy arm, and the light of thy countenance, because thou hadst given them thy favor.
4 मेरे परमेश्वर, आप मेरे राजा हैं, याकोब की विजय का आदेश दीजिए.
Thou art my King, O God: ordain salvation for Jacob.
5 आपके द्वारा ही हम अपने शत्रुओं पर प्रबल हो सकेंगे; आप ही के महिमामय नाम से हम अपने शत्रुओं को कुचल डालेंगे.
Through thee will we butt down our assailants: through thy name will we tread under foot our opponents.
6 मुझे अपने धनुष पर भरोसा नहीं है, मेरी तलवार भी मेरी विजय का साधन नहीं है;
For not in my bow will I trust, and my sword shall not help me.
7 हमें अपने शत्रुओं पर विजय आपने ही प्रदान की है, आपने ही हमारे शत्रुओं को लज्जित किया है.
But thou helpest us against our assailants, and those that hate us thou puttest to shame.
8 हम निरंतर परमेश्वर में गर्व करते रहे, हम सदा-सर्वदा आपकी महिमा का धन्यवाद करते रहेंगे.
Of God we boast all the day, and to thy name will we give thanks for ever. (Selah)
9 किंतु अब आपने हमें लज्जित होने के लिए शोकित छोड़ दिया है; आप हमारी सेना के साथ भी नहीं चल रहे.
But [now] thou hast cast off, and put us to the blush, and goest not forth with our armies.
10 आपके दूर होने के कारण, हमें शत्रुओं को पीठ दिखानी पड़ी. यहां तक कि हमारे विरोधी हमें लूटकर चले गए.
Thou causest us to turn back from before our assailant: and they who hate us take spoil for themselves.
11 आपने हमें वध के लिए निर्धारित भेड़ों समान छोड़ दिया है. आपने हमें अनेक राष्ट्रों में बिखेर दिया है.
Thou givest us up like sheep for food, and among the nations hast thou dispersed us.
12 आपने अपनी प्रजा को मिट्टी के मोल बेच दिया, और ऊपर से आपने इसमें लाभ मिलने की भी बात नहीं की.
Thou sellest thy people for no value, and acquirest no gain by their price.
13 अपने पड़ोसियों के लिए अब हम निंदनीय हो गए हैं, सबके सामने घृणित एवं उपहास पात्र.
Thou renderest us a reproach to our neighbors, a scorn and a derision to those that are round about us.
14 राष्ट्रों में हम उपमा होकर रह गए हैं; हमारे नाम पर वे सिर हिलाने लगते हैं.
Thou renderest us a by-word among the nations, a shaking of the head among the people.
15 सारे दिन मेरा अपमान मेरे सामने झूलता रहता है, तथा मेरी लज्जा ने मुझे भयभीत कर रखा है.
All the day is my disgrace before me, and the shame of my face covereth me;
16 उस शत्रु की वाणी, जो मेरी निंदा एवं मुझे कलंकित करता है, उसकी उपस्थिति के कारण जो शत्रु तथा बदला लेनेवाले है.
Because of the voice of him that reproacheth and blasphemeth; by reason of the enemy and him that seeketh vengeance.
17 हमने न तो आपको भुला दिया था, और न हमने आपकी वाचा ही भंग की; फिर भी हमें यह सब सहना पड़ा.
All this is come over us, yet have we not forgotten thee; nor have we dealt falsely by thy covenant;
18 हमारे हृदय आपसे बहके नहीं; हमारे कदम आपके मार्ग से भटके नहीं.
Our heart is not moved backward, nor hath our step turned aside from thy path:
19 फिर भी आपने हमें उजाड़ कर गीदड़ों का बसेरा बना दिया; और हमें गहन अंधकार में छिपा दिया.
Even when thou didst crush us in the abode of monsters, and cover us with the shadow of death.
20 यदि हम अपने परमेश्वर को भूल ही जाते अथवा हमने अन्य देवताओं की ओर हाथ बढ़ाया होता,
If we had forgotten the name of our God, or spread forth our hands to a strange God:
21 क्या परमेश्वर को इसका पता न चल गया होता, उन्हें तो हृदय के सभी रहस्यों का ज्ञान होता है?
Would not God search out this? for he knoweth the secrets of the heart.
22 फिर भी आपके निमित्त हम दिन भर मृत्यु का सामना करते रहते हैं; हमारी स्थिति वध के लिए निर्धारित भेड़ों के समान है.
But for thy sake are we slain all the day; we are counted as flocks [destined] for slaughter.
23 जागिए, प्रभु! सो क्यों रहे हैं? उठ जाइए! हमें सदा के लिए शोकित न छोड़िए.
Awake, wherefore wilt thou sleep, O Lord? arise, abandon us not for ever.
24 आपने हमसे अपना मुख क्यों छिपा लिया है हमारी दुर्दशा और उत्पीड़न को अनदेखा न कीजिए?
Wherefore wilt thou hide thy face, wilt thou forget our misery, and our oppression?
25 हमारे प्राण धूल में मिल ही चुके हैं; हमारा पेट भूमि से जा लगा है.
For our soul is bowed down to the dust; our body cleaveth unto the earth.
26 उठकर हमारी सहायता कीजिए; अपने करुणा-प्रेम के निमित्त हमें मुक्त कीजिए.
Arise unto our help, and redeem us for the sake of thy kindness.
