भजन संहिता 39

1 संगीत निर्देशक के लिये. यदूथून के लिए. दावीद का एक स्तोत्र. मैंने निश्चय किया, “मैं पाप करने से अपने आचरण एवं जीभ से अपने बोलने की चौकसी करूंगा; यदि मैं दुष्टों की उपस्थिति में हूं, मैं अपने वचनों पर नियंत्रण रखूंगा.”

To the excellent musician Ieduthun. I thought, I will take heede to my wayes, that I sinne not with my tongue: I will keepe my mouth brideled, while the wicked is in my sight.

2 तब मैंने मौन धारण कर लिया, यहां तक कि मैंने भली बातों पर भी नियंत्रण लगा दिया, तब मेरी व्याकुलता बढ़ती चली गई;

I was dumme and spake nothing: I kept silece euen from good, and my sorow was more stirred.

3 भीतर ही भीतर मेरा हृदय जलता गया और इस विषय पर अधिक विचार करने पर मेरे भीतर अग्नि भड़कने लगी; तब मैंने अपना मौन तोड़ दिया और जीभ से बोल उठा:

Mine heart was hote within me, and while I was musing, the fire kindeled, and I spake with my tongue, saying,

4 “याहवेह, मुझ पर मेरे जीवन का अंत प्रकट कर दीजिए. मुझे बताइए कि कितने दिन शेष हैं मेरे जीवन के; मुझ पर स्पष्ट कीजिए कि कितना है मेरा क्षणभंगुर जीवन.

Lord, let me know mine ende, and the measure of my dayes, what it is: let mee knowe howe long I haue to liue.

5 आपने मेरी आयु क्षणिक मात्र ही निर्धारित की है; आपकी तुलना में मेरी आयु के वर्ष नगण्य हैं. वैसे भी मनुष्य का जीवन-श्वास मात्र ही होता है, वह शक्तिशाली व्यक्ति का भी.

Beholde, thou hast made my dayes as an hand breadth, and mine age as nothing in respect of thee: surely euery man in his best state is altogether vanitie. (Selah)

6 “एक छाया के समान, जो चलती-फिरती रहती है; उसकी सारी भाग दौड़ निरर्थक ही होती है. वह धन संचित करता जाता है, किंतु उसे यह ज्ञात ही नहीं होता, कि उसका उपभोग कौन करेगा.

Doubtlesse man walketh in a shadowe, and disquieteth himselfe in vaine: he heapeth vp riches, and cannot tell who shall gather them.

7 “तो प्रभु, अब मैं किस बात की प्रतीक्षा करूं? मेरी एकमात्र आशा आप ही हैं.

And now Lord, what wait I for? mine hope is euen in thee.

8 मुझे मेरे समस्त अपराधों से उद्धार प्रदान कीजिए; मुझे मूर्खों की घृणा का पात्र होने से बचाइए.

Deliuer me from all my transgressions, and make me not a rebuke vnto the foolish.

9 मैं मूक बन गया; मैंने कुछ भी न कहना उपयुक्त समझा, क्योंकि आप उठे थे.

I should haue bene dumme, and not haue opened my mouth, because thou didest it.

10 अब मुझ पर प्रहार करना रोक दीजिए; आपके प्रहार से मैं टूट चुका हूं.

Take thy plague away from mee: for I am consumed by the stroke of thine hand.

11 मनुष्यों द्वारा किए गए अपराध के लिए आप उन्हें ताड़ना के साथ दंड देते हैं, आप उनकी अमूल्य संपत्ति ऐसे नष्ट कर देते हैं, मानो उसे कीड़ा खा गया. निश्चयतः मनुष्य मात्र एक श्वास है.

When thou with rebukes doest chastise man for iniquitie, thou as a mothe makest his beautie to consume: surely euery man is vanitie. (Selah)

12 “याहवेह, मेरी प्रार्थना सुनिए, मेरी सहायता की पुकार पर ध्यान दीजिए; मेरे आंसुओं की अनसुनी न कीजिए. मैं अल्पकाल के लिए आपका परदेशी हूं, ठीक जिस प्रकार मेरे समस्त पूर्वज प्रवासी थे.

Heare my prayer, O Lord, and hearken vnto my cry: keepe not silence at my teares, for I am a strager with thee, and a soiourner as all my fathers.

13 इसके पूर्व कि मैं चला जाऊं, अपनी कोपदृष्टि मुझ पर से हटा लीजिए, कि कुछ समय के लिए ही मुझे आनंद का सुख प्राप्‍त हो सके.”

Stay thine anger from me, that I may recouer my strength, before I go hence and be not.
