1 दावीद की रचना. याहवेह मेरी ज्योति और उद्धार हैं; मुझे किसका भय हो सकता है? याहवेह मेरे जीवन का दृढ़ गढ़ हैं, तो मुझे किसका भय?

2 जब दुर्जन मुझे निगलने के लिए मुझ पर आक्रमण करते हैं, जब मेरे विरोधी तथा मेरे शत्रु मेरे विरुद्ध उठ खड़े होते हैं, वे ठोकर खाकर गिर जाते हैं.

4 याहवेह से मैंने एक ही प्रार्थना की है, यही मेरी आकांक्षा है: मैं आजीवन याहवेह के आवास में निवास कर सकूं, कि याहवेह के सौंदर्य को देखता रहूं और उनके मंदिर में मनन करता रहूं.

5 क्योंकि वही हैं जो संकट काल में मुझे आश्रय देंगे; वही मुझे अपने गुप्त-मंडप के आश्रय में छिपा लेंगे और एक उच्च चट्टान में मुझे सुरक्षा प्रदान करेंगे.

6 तब जिन शत्रुओं ने मुझे घेरा हुआ है, उनके सामने मेरा मस्तक ऊंचा हो जाएगा. तब उच्च हर्षोल्लास के साथ मैं याहवेह के गुप्त-मंडप में बलि अर्पित करूंगा; मैं गाऊंगा, हां, मैं याहवेह की वंदना करूंगा.

9 मुझसे अपना मुखमंडल न छिपाइए, क्रोध में अपने सेवक को दूर न कीजिए; आप ही मेरे सहायक रहे हैं. मेरे परमेश्वर, मेरे उद्धारक मुझे अस्वीकार न कीजिए और न मेरा परित्याग कीजिए.

11 याहवेह, मुझे अपने आचरण की शिक्षा दें; मेरे शत्रुओं के मध्य सुरक्षित मार्ग पर मेरी अगुवाई करें.

12 मुझे मेरे शत्रुओं की इच्छापूर्ति का साधन होने के लिए न छोड़ दें, मेरे विरुद्ध झूठे साक्ष्य उठ खड़े हुए हैं, वे सभी हिंसा पर उतारू हैं.

14 याहवेह में अपनी आशा स्थिर रखो; दृढ़ रहकर साहसी बनो, हां, याहवेह पर भरोसा रखो.
