भजन संहिता 17

1 दावीद की एक प्रार्थना याहवेह, मेरा न्याय संगत, अनुरोध सुनिए; मेरी पुकार पर ध्यान दीजिए. मेरी प्रार्थना को सुन लीजिए, जो कपटी होंठों से निकले शब्द नहीं हैं.

“A prayer of David.” Hear, O Lord, [the cause of] righteousness, attend unto my entreaty, give ear unto my prayer, coming from lips without deceit.

2 आपके द्वारा मेरा न्याय किया जाए; आपकी दृष्टि में वही आए जो धर्ममय है.

Let from thy presence my sentence come forth; let thy eyes behold what is right.

3 आप मेरे हृदय को परख चुके हैं, रात्रि में आपने मेरा ध्यान रखा है, आपने मुझे परखकर निर्दोष पाया है; मैंने यह निश्चय किया है कि मेरे मुख से कोई अपराध न होगा.

Thou hast proved my heart; thou hast thought of me in the night; thou hast refined me—thou couldst find nothing: my purpose doth not pass beyond [the words of] my mouth.

4 मनुष्यों के आचरण के संदर्भ में, ठीक आपके ही आदेश के अनुरूप मैं हिंसक मनुष्यों के मार्गों से दूर ही दूर रहा हूं.

Among the deeds of men did I observe, by the word of thy lips, the paths of the dissolute.

5 मेरे पांव आपके मार्गों पर दृढ़ रहें; और मेरे पांव लड़खड़ाए नहीं.

My steps held firmly to thy tracks, [and] my footsteps did not slip.

6 मैंने आपको ही पुकारा है, क्योंकि परमेश्वर, आप मुझे उत्तर देंगे; मेरी ओर कान लगाकर मेरी बिनती को सुनिए.

I call on thee, for thou wilt answer me, O God: incline thy ear unto me, hear my speech.

7 अपने शत्रुओं के पास से आपके दायें पक्ष में आए हुए शरणागतों के रक्षक, उन पर अपने करुणा-प्रेम का आश्चर्य प्रदर्शन कीजिए.

Show marvelously thy loving-kindnesses, O thou that savest those who put their trust [in thee] from those that rise up [against them] by thy right hand.

8 अपने आंखों की पुतली के समान मेरी सुरक्षा कीजिए; अपने पंखों की आड़ में मुझे छिपा लीजिए

Keep me as the apple of the eye; conceal me under the shadow of thy wings,

9 उन दुष्टों से, जो मुझ पर प्रहार करते रहते हैं, उन प्राणघातक शत्रुओं से, जिन्होंने मुझे घेर लिया है.

From the wicked that despoil me, my enemies, who, to take my life, compass me about.

10 उनके हृदय कठोर हो चुके हैं, उनके शब्द घमंडी हैं.

They are enclosed in their own fat: with their mouth they speak proudly.

11 वे मेरा पीछा करते रहे हैं और अब उन्होंने मुझे घेर लिया है. उनकी आंखें मुझे खोज रही हैं, कि वे मुझे धरती पर पटक दें.

On our steps they now encompass us: they direct their eyes to turn aside in the land.

12 वह उस सिंह के समान है जो फाड़ खाने को तत्पर है, उस जवान सिंह के समान जो घात लगाए छिपा बैठा है.

Every man is just like a lion that is greedy to tear his prey, and like a young lion lurking in a covert.

13 उठिए, याहवेह, उसका सामना कीजिए, उसे नाश कीजिए; अपनी तलवार के द्वारा दुर्जन से मेरे प्राण बचा लीजिए,

Arise, O Lord, prevent him, cast him down; deliver my soul from the wicked, who is thy sword, —

14 याहवेह, अपने हाथों द्वारा, उन मनुष्यों से, उन सांसारिक मनुष्यों से जिनका भाग मात्र इसी जीवन में मगन है. उनका पेट आप अपनी निधि से परिपूर्ण कर देते हैं; संतान पाकर वे प्रसन्‍न हैं, और वे अपनी समृद्धि अपनी संतान के लिए छोड़ जाते हैं.

From these men—thy hand—O Lord, from the men of this world, whose portion is in this life, and whose belly thou fillest with thy hidden treasure: they have children in plenty, and leave the rest of their substance to their babes.

15 अपनी धार्मिकता के कारण मैं आपके मुख का दर्शन करूंगा; जब मैं प्रातः आंखें खोलूं, तो आपके स्वरूप का दर्शन मुझे आनंद से तृप्‍त कर देगा.

As for me, in righteousness shall I behold thy face: I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with contemplating thy likeness.
