मत्ती 15
1 तब येरूशलेम से कुछ फ़रीसी और शास्त्री येशु के पास आकर कहने लगे,
Then they come to Jesus from Jerusalem—scribes and Pharisees—saying,
2 “आपके शिष्य पूर्वजों की परंपराओं का उल्लंघन क्यों करते हैं? वे भोजन के पहले हाथ नहीं धोया करते.”
“Why do Your disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? For they do not wash their hands when they may eat bread.”
3 येशु ने उन्हें उत्तर दिया, “अपनी परंपराओं की पूर्ति में आप स्वयं परमेश्वर के आदेशों को क्यों तोड़ते हैं?
And He answering said to them, “Why also do you transgress the command of God because of your tradition?
4 परमेश्वर की आज्ञा है, ‘अपने माता-पिता का सम्मान करो’ और वह, जो माता या पिता के प्रति बुरे शब्द बोले, उसे मृत्यु दंड दिया जाए.
For God commanded, saying, Honor your father and mother; and, He who is speaking evil of father or mother—let him die the death;
5 किंतु तुम कहते हो, ‘जो कोई अपने माता-पिता से कहता है, “आपको मुझसे जो कुछ प्राप्त होना था, वह सब अब परमेश्वर को भेंट किया जा चुका है,”
but you say, Whoever may say to father or mother, An offering [is] whatever you may be profited by me—
6 उसे माता-पिता का सम्मान करना आवश्यक नहीं.’ ऐसा करने के द्वारा अपनी ही परंपराओं को पूरा करने की फिराक में तुम परमेश्वर की आज्ञा को तोड़ते हो.
and he may not honor his father or his mother, and you set aside the command of God because of your tradition.
7 अरे पाखंडियों! भविष्यवक्ता यशायाह की यह भविष्यवाणी तुम्हारे विषय में ठीक ही है:
Hypocrites, Isaiah prophesied well of you, saying,
8 “ये लोग मात्र अपने होंठों से मेरा सम्मान करते हैं, किंतु उनके हृदय मुझसे बहुत दूर हैं.
This people draws near to Me with their mouth, and with the lips it honors Me, but their heart is far off from Me;
9 व्यर्थ में वे मेरी वंदना करते हैं. उनकी शिक्षा सिर्फ मनुष्यों द्वारा बनाए हुए नियम हैं.”
and in vain they worship Me, teaching teachings—commands of men.”
10 तब येशु ने भीड़ को अपने पास बुलाकर उनसे कहा, “सुनो और समझो:
And having called near the multitude, He said to them, “Hear and understand:
11 वह, जो मनुष्य के मुख में प्रवेश करता है, मनुष्य को अशुद्ध नहीं करता, परंतु उसे अशुद्ध वह करता है, जो उसके मुख से निकलता है.”
[it is] not that which is coming into the mouth [that] defiles the man, but that which is coming forth from the mouth, this defiles the man.”
12 तब येशु के शिष्यों ने उनके पास आ उनसे प्रश्न किया, “क्या आप जानते हैं कि आपके इस वचन से फ़रीसी अपमानित हो रहे हैं?”
Then His disciples having come near, said to Him, “Have You known that the Pharisees, having heard the word, were stumbled?”
13 येशु ने उनसे उत्तर में कहा, “ऐसा हर एक पौधा, जिसे मेरे पिता ने नहीं रोपा है, उखाड़ दिया जाएगा.
And He answering said, “Every plant that My heavenly Father did not plant will be rooted up;
14 उनसे दूर ही रहो. वे तो अंधे मार्गदर्शक हैं. यदि अंधा ही अंधे का मार्गदर्शन करेगा, तो दोनों ही गड्ढे में गिरेंगे!”
leave them alone, they are guides—blind of blind; and if blind may guide blind, both will fall into a ditch.”
15 पेतरॉस ने येशु से विनती की, “प्रभु हमें इसका अर्थ समझाइए.”
And Peter answering said to Him, “Explain to us this allegory.”
16 येशु ने कहा, “क्या तुम अब तक समझ नहीं पाए?
And Jesus said, “Are you also yet without understanding?
17 क्या तुम्हें यह समझ नहीं आया कि जो कुछ मुख में प्रवेश करता है, वह पेट में जाकर शरीर से बाहर निकल जाता है?
Do you not understand that all that is going into the mouth passes into the belly, and is cast forth into the drain?
18 किंतु जो कुछ मुख से निकलता है, उसका स्रोत होता है मनुष्य का हृदय. वही सब है जो मनुष्य को अशुद्ध करता है,
But the things coming forth from the mouth come forth from the heart, and these defile the man;
19 क्योंकि हृदय से ही बुरे विचार, हत्या, व्यभिचार, वेश्यागामी, चोरियां, झूठी गवाही तथा निंदा उपजा करती हैं.
for out of the heart come forth evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, whoredoms, thefts, false witnessings, slanders:
20 ये ही मनुष्य को अशुद्ध करती हैं, किंतु हाथ धोए बिना भोजन करने से कोई व्यक्ति अशुद्ध नहीं होता.”
these are the things defiling the man; but to eat with unwashed hands does not defile the man.”
21 तब येशु वहां से निकलकर सोर और सीदोन प्रदेश में एकांतवास करने लगे.
And Jesus having come forth from there, withdrew to the parts of Tyre and Sidon,
22 वहां एक कनानवासी स्त्री आई और पुकार-पुकारकर कहने लगी, “प्रभु! मुझ पर दया कीजिए. दावीद की संतान! मेरी पुत्री में एक क्रूर दुष्टात्मा समाया हुआ है और वह बहुत पीड़ित है.”
and behold, a woman, a Canaanite, having come forth from those borders, called to Him, saying, “Deal kindly with me, Lord, Son of David; my daughter is miserably demonized.”
23 किंतु येशु ने उसकी ओर लेश मात्र भी ध्यान नहीं दिया. शिष्य आकर उनसे विनती करने लगे, “प्रभु! उसे विदा कर दीजिए. वह चिल्लाती हुई हमारे पीछे लगी है.”
And He did not answer her a word; and His disciples having come to Him, were asking Him, saying, “Let her away, because she cries after us”;
24 येशु ने उत्तर दिया, “मुझे मात्र इस्राएल वंश के खोई हुई भेड़ों के पास ही भेजा गया है.”
and He answering said, “I was not sent except to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.”
25 किंतु उस स्त्री ने येशु के पास आ झुकते हुए उनसे विनती की, “प्रभु! मेरी सहायता कीजिए!”
And having come, she was worshiping Him, saying, “Lord, help me”;
26 येशु ने उसे उत्तर दिया, “बालकों को परोसा भोजन उनसे लेकर कुत्तों को देना सही नहीं!”
and He answering said, “It is not good to take the children’s bread, and to cast to the little dogs.”
27 उस स्त्री ने उत्तर दिया, “सच है, प्रभु, किंतु यह भी तो सच है कि स्वामी की मेज़ से गिर जाते टुकड़ों से कुत्ते अपना पेट भर लेते हैं.”
And she said, “Yes, Lord, for even the little dogs eat of the crumbs that are falling from their lords’ table”;
28 येशु कह उठे, “सराहनीय है तुम्हारा विश्वास! वैसा ही हो, जैसा तुम चाहती हो.” उसी क्षण उसकी पुत्री स्वस्थ हो गई.
then answering, Jesus said to her, “O woman, great [is] your faith, let it be to you as you will”; and her daughter was healed from that hour.
29 वहां से येशु गलील झील के तट से होते हुए पर्वत पर चले गए और वहां बैठ गए.
And having departed from there, Jesus came near to the Sea of Galilee, and having gone up to the mountain, He was sitting there,
30 एक बड़ी भीड़ उनके पास आ गयी. जिनमें लंगड़े, अपंग, अंधे, गूंगे और अन्य रोगी थे. लोगों ने इन्हें येशु के चरणों में लिटा दिया और येशु ने उन्हें स्वस्थ कर दिया.
and there came to Him great multitudes, having with them lame, blind, mute, maimed, and many others, and they cast them at the feet of Jesus, and He healed them,
31 गूंगों को बोलते, अपंगों को स्वस्थ होते, लंगड़ों को चलते तथा अंधों को देखते देख भीड़ चकित हो इस्राएल के परमेश्वर का गुणगान करने लगी.
so that the multitudes wondered, seeing mute ones speaking, maimed whole, lame walking, and blind seeing; and they glorified the God of Israel.
32 येशु ने अपने शिष्यों को अपने पास बुलाकर कहा, “मुझे इन लोगों से सहानुभूति है क्योंकि ये मेरे साथ तीन दिन से हैं और इनके पास अब खाने को कुछ नहीं है. मैं इन्हें भूखा ही विदा करना नहीं चाहता—कहीं ये मार्ग में ही मूर्च्छित न हो जाएं.”
And Jesus having called near His disciples, said, “I have compassion on the multitude, because now three days they continue with Me, and they do not have what they may eat; and to let them away fasting I will not, lest they faint in the way.”
33 शिष्यों ने कहा, “इस निर्जन स्थान में इस बड़ी भीड़ की तृप्ति के लिए भोजन का प्रबंध कैसे होगा?”
And His disciples say to Him, “From where to us in a wilderness [will we get] so many loaves, as to fill so great a multitude?”
34 येशु ने उनसे प्रश्न किया, “कितनी रोटियां हैं तुम्हारे पास?” “सात, और कुछ छोटी मछलियां,” उन्होंने उत्तर दिया.
And Jesus says to them, “How many loaves do you have?” And they said, “Seven, and a few little fishes.”
35 येशु ने भीड़ को भूमि पर बैठ जाने का निर्देश दिया
And He commanded the multitudes to sit down on the ground,
36 और स्वयं उन्होंने सातों रोटियां और मछलियां लेकर उनके लिए परमेश्वर के प्रति आभार प्रकट करने के बाद उन्हें तोड़ा और शिष्यों को देते गए तथा शिष्य भीड़ को.
and having taken the seven loaves and the fishes, having given thanks, He broke, and gave to His disciples, and the disciples [gave] to the multitude.
37 सभी ने खाया और तृप्त हुए और शिष्यों ने तोड़ी गई रोटियों के शेष टुकड़ों को इकट्ठा कर सात बड़े टोकरे भर लिए.
And they all ate, and were filled, and they took up what was over of the broken pieces seven baskets full,
38 वहां जितनों ने भोजन किया था उनमें स्त्रियों और बालकों के अतिरिक्त पुरुषों ही की संख्या कोई चार हज़ार थी.
and those eating were four thousand men, apart from women and children.
39 भीड़ को विदा कर येशु नाव में सवार होकर मगादान क्षेत्र में आए.
And having let away the multitudes, He went into the boat, and came to the borders of Magdala.
