मत्ती 14
1 उसी समय हेरोदेस ने, जो देश के एक चौथाई भाग का राजा था, येशु के विषय में सुना.
At that time Herod the Tetrarche heard of the fame of Iesus,
2 उसने अपने सेवकों से कहा, “यह बपतिस्मा देनेवाला योहन है—मरे हुओं में से जी उठा! यही कारण है कि आश्चर्यकर्म करने का सामर्थ्य इसमें मौजूद है.”
And sayde vnto his seruaunts, This is that Iohn Baptist, hee is risen againe from the deade, and therefore great woorkes are wrought by him.
3 उनकी हत्या का कारण थी हेरोदेस के भाई फ़िलिप्पॉस की पत्नी हेरोदिअस. हेरोदेस ने बपतिस्मा देनेवाले योहन को बंदी बनाकर कारागार में डाल दिया था
For Herod had taken Iohn, and bounde him, and put him in prison for Herodias sake, his brother Philips wife.
4 क्योंकि बपतिस्मा देनेवाले योहन उसे यह चेतावनी देते रहते थे, “तुम्हारा हेरोदिअस को अपने पास रखना उचित नहीं है.”
For Iohn saide vnto him, It is not lawfull for thee to haue her.
5 हेरोदेस योहन को समाप्त ही कर देना चाहता था किंतु उसे लोगों का भय था क्योंकि लोग उन्हें भविष्यवक्ता मानते थे.
And when hee woulde haue put him to death, hee feared the multitude, because they counted him as a Prophet.
6 हेरोदेस के जन्मदिवस समारोह के अवसर पर हेरोदिअस की पुत्री के नृत्य-प्रदर्शन से हेरोदेस इतना प्रसन्न हुआ कि
But when Herods birth day was kept, the daughter of Herodias daunced before them, and pleased Herod.
7 उसने उस किशोरी से शपथ खाकर वचन दिया कि वह जो चाहे मांग सकती है.
Wherefore he promised with an othe, that he would giue her whatsoeuer she would aske.
8 अपनी माता के संकेत पर उसने कहा, “मुझे एक थाल में, यहीं, बपतिस्मा देनेवाले योहन का सिर चाहिए.”
And shee being before instructed of her mother, sayde, Giue mee here Iohn Baptists head in a platter.
9 यद्यपि इस पर हेरोदेस दुःखित अवश्य हुआ किंतु अपनी शपथ और उपस्थित अतिथियों के कारण उसने इसकी पूर्ति की आज्ञा दे दी.
And the King was sorie: neuerthelesse because of the othe, and them that sate with him at the table, he commanded it to be giuen her,
10 उसने किसी को कारागार में भेजकर योहन का सिर कटवा दिया,
And sent, and beheaded Iohn in the prison.
11 उसे एक थाल में लाकर उस किशोरी को दे दिया गया और उसने उसे ले जाकर अपनी माता को दे दिया.
And his head was brought in a platter, and giuen to the maide, and shee brought it vnto her mother.
12 योहन के शिष्य आए, उनके शव को ले गए, उनका अंतिम संस्कार कर दिया तथा येशु को इसके विषय में सूचित किया.
And his disciples came, and tooke vp the bodie, and buried it, and went, and tolde Iesus.
13 इस समाचार को सुन येशु नाव पर सवार होकर वहां से एकांत में चले गए. जब लोगों को यह मालूम हुआ, वे नगरों से निकलकर पैदल ही उनके पीछे चल दिए.
And when Iesus heard it, hee departed thence by shippe into a desert place apart. And when the multitude had heard it, they followed him on foote out of the cities.
14 तट पर पहुंचने पर येशु ने इस बड़ी भीड़ को देखा और उनका हृदय करुणा से भर गया. उन्होंने उनमें, जो रोगी थे उनको स्वस्थ किया.
And Iesus went foorth and sawe a great multitude, and was mooued with compassion toward them, and he healed their sicke.
15 संध्याकाल उनके शिष्य उनके पास आकर कहने लगे, “यह निर्जन स्थान है और दिन ढल रहा है इसलिये भीड़ को विदा कर दीजिए कि गांवों में जाकर लोग अपने लिए भोजन-व्यवस्था कर सकें.”
And when euen was come, his disciples came to him, saying, This is a desart place, and the time is alreadie past: let the multitude depart, that they may goe into the townes, and bye them vitailes.
16 किंतु येशु ने उनसे कहा, “उन्हें विदा करने की कोई ज़रूरत नहीं है—तुम उनके लिए भोजन की व्यवस्था करो!”
But Iesus saide to them, They haue no neede to goe away: giue yee them to eate.
17 उन्होंने येशु को बताया कि यहां उनके पास सिर्फ़ पांच रोटियां और दो मछलियां हैं.
Then saide they vnto him, Wee haue here but fiue loaues, and two fishes.
18 येशु ने उन्हें आज्ञा दी, “उन्हें यहां मेरे पास ले आओ.”
And he saide, Bring them hither to me.
19 लोगों को घास पर बैठने की आज्ञा देते हुए येशु ने पांचों रोटियां और दो मछलियां अपने हाथों में लेकर स्वर्ग की ओर आंखें उठाकर भोजन के लिए धन्यवाद देने के बाद रोटियां तोड़-तोड़ कर शिष्यों को देना प्रारंभ किया और शिष्यों ने भीड़ को.
And hee commanded the multitude to sit downe on the grasse, and tooke the fiue loaues and the two fishes, and looked vp to heauen and blessed, and brake, and gaue the loaues to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.
20 सभी ने भरपेट खाया. शेष रह गए टुकड़े इकट्ठा करने पर बारह टोकरे भर गए.
And they did all eate, and were sufficed, and they tooke vp of the fragments that remained, twelue baskets full.
21 वहां जितनों ने भोजन किया था उनमें स्त्रियों और बालकों को छोड़कर पुरुषों की संख्या ही कोई पांच हज़ार थी.
And they that had eaten, were about fiue thousande men, beside women and litle children.
22 इसके बाद येशु ने शिष्यों को तुरंत ही नाव में सवार होने के लिए इस उद्देश्य से विवश किया कि शिष्य उनके पूर्व ही दूसरी ओर पहुंच जाएं, जबकि वह स्वयं भीड़ को विदा करने लगे.
And straightway Iesus compelled his disciples to enter into a shippe, and to goe ouer before him, while he sent the multitude away.
23 भीड़ को विदा करने के बाद वह अकेले पर्वत पर चले गए कि वहां जाकर वह एकांत में प्रार्थना करें. यह रात का समय था और वह वहां अकेले थे.
And assoone as hee had sent the multitude away, he went vp into a moutaine alone to pray: and when the euening was come, hee was there alone.
24 विपरीत दिशा में हवा तथा लहरों के थपेड़े खाकर नाव तट से बहुत दूर निकल चुकी थी.
And the shippe was nowe in the middes of the sea, and was tossed with waues: for it was a contrarie winde.
25 रात के अंतिम प्रहर में येशु जल सतह पर चलते हुए उनकी ओर आए.
And in the fourth watch of the night, Iesus went vnto them, walking on the sea.
26 उन्हें जल सतह पर चलते देख शिष्य घबराकर कहने लगे, “दुष्टात्मा है यह!” और वे भयभीत हो चिल्लाने लगे.
And when his disciples sawe him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit, and cried out for feare.
27 इस पर येशु ने उनसे कहा, “डरो मत. साहस रखो! मैं हूं!”
But straight way Iesus spake vnto them, saying, Be of good comfort, It is I: be not afraide.
28 पेतरॉस ने उनसे कहा, “प्रभु! यदि आप ही हैं तो मुझे आज्ञा दीजिए कि मैं जल पर चलते हुए आपके पास आ जाऊं.”
Then Peter answered him, and saide, Master, if it be thou, bid me come vnto thee on the water.
29 “आओ!” येशु ने आज्ञा दी. पेतरॉस नाव से उतरकर जल पर चलते हुए येशु की ओर बढ़ने लगे
And he saide, Come. And when Peter was come downe out of the shippe, he walked on the water, to goe to Iesus.
30 किंतु जब उनका ध्यान हवा की गति की ओर गया तो वह भयभीत हो गए और जल में डूबने लगे. वह चिल्लाए, “प्रभु! मुझे बचाइए!”
But when he sawe a mightie winde, he was afraide: and as he began to sinke, he cried, saying, Master, saue me.
31 येशु ने तुरंत हाथ बढ़ाकर उन्हें थाम लिया और कहा, “अरे, अल्प विश्वासी! तुमने संदेह क्यों किया?”
So immediatly Iesus stretched foorth his hande, and caught him, and saide to him, O thou of litle faith, wherefore diddest thou doubt?
32 तब वे दोनों नाव में चढ़ गए और वायु थम गई.
And assoone as they were come into the ship, the winde ceased.
33 नाव में सवार शिष्यों ने यह कहते हुए येशु की वंदना की, “सचमुच आप ही परमेश्वर-पुत्र हैं.”
Then they that were in the ship, came and worshipped him, saying, Of a trueth thou art the Sonne of God.
34 झील पार कर वे गन्नेसरत प्रदेश में आ गए.
And when they were come ouer, they came into the land of Gennezaret.
35 वहां के निवासियों ने उन्हें पहचान लिया और आस-पास के स्थानों में संदेश भेज दिया. लोग बीमार व्यक्तियों को उनके पास लाने लगे.
And when the men of that place knewe him, they sent out into all that countrey rounde about, and brought vnto him all that were sicke,
36 वे येशु से विनती करने लगे, कि वह उन्हें मात्र अपने वस्त्र का छोर ही छू लेने दें. अनेकों ने उनका वस्त्र छुआ और स्वस्थ हो गए.
And besought him, that they might touch the hemme of his garment onely: and as many as touched it, were made whole.
