यहोशू 3
1 दूसरे दिन सुबह जल्दी उठकर यहोशू एवं इस्राएल वंशज शित्तीम से चलकर यरदन गए और उसे पार करने के पहले उन्होंने वहां पड़ाव डाला.
So then Joshua rose early in the morning, and they brake up from The Acacias and came as far as the Jordan, he and all the sons of Israel, —and they lodged there before they passed over.
2 तीन दिन बाद नायक शिविर के बीच से होते हुए गए,
And it came to pass, after three days, that the officers went through the midst of the camp,
3 और उन्होंने लोगों को कहा, “जब याहवेह परमेश्वर की वाचा के संदूक को लेवीय पुरोहित उठाए हुए देखो, तब अपने-अपने स्थान से उठकर उसके पीछे-पीछे चलना.
and commanded the people saying, When ye see the ark of the covenant of Yahweh your God, and, the priests the Levites, bearing it, ye also, shall break up out of your place, and come after it.
4 किंतु तुम्हारे तथा संदूक के बीच लगभग एक किलोमीटर की दूरी रहे. इसके पास न जाना, तुम ध्यान रखना कि तुम्हें किस दिशा में आगे बढ़ना है, क्योंकि इस मार्ग पर तुम पहले कभी नहीं गए हो.”
Yet shall there be, a distance, between you and it, about two thousand cubits by measure, —do not come near unto it that ye may get to know the way by which ye must go, for ye have not passed this way, heretofore.
5 लोगों से यहोशू ने कहा, “अपने आपको पवित्र करो, क्योंकि कल याहवेह तुम्हारे बीच आश्चर्य के काम करेंगे.”
Then said Joshua unto the people, Hallow yourselves, —for, to-morrow, will Yahweh do in your midst, wonderful things.
6 पुरोहितों से यहोशू ने कहा, “आप वाचा का संदूक लेकर लोगों के आगे-आगे चलें.” तब उन्होंने वाचा का संदूक उठाया और लोगों के आगे-आगे चलने लगे.
And Joshua spake unto the priests, saying, Take ye up the ark of the covenant, and pass on before the people. So they took up the ark of the covenant, and went on before the people.
7 याहवेह ने यहोशू से कहा, “आज वह दिन है, जब मैं तुम्हें इस्राएल की दृष्टि में आदर का पात्र बनाऊंगा, और उन्हें यह मालूम हो जाएगा कि जिस प्रकार मैं मोशेह के साथ था, ठीक वैसे ही तुम्हारे साथ भी रहूंगा.
Then said Yahweh unto Joshua: This day, will I begin to magnify thee in the eyes of all Israel, —who shall know, that, as I was with Moses, I will be with thee.
8 तुम्हें वाचा का संदूक उठानेवाले को बताना होगा: ‘जब तुम यरदन नदी में पहुंचो तब, तुम जल में सीधे खड़े रहना.’”
Thou, therefore, shalt command the priests who am bearing the ark of the covenant, saying, —When ye are come as far as the edge of the waters of the Jordan, in the Jordan, shall ye stand.
9 तब यहोशू ने इस्राएलियों से कहा, “यहां आकर याहवेह, अपने परमेश्वर का संदेश सुनो.
Then said Joshua, unto the sons of Israel, —Draw near hither, and hear ye the words of Yahweh your God.
10 तब तुम समझ पाओगे कि जीवित परमेश्वर तुम्हारे बीच में हैं; और वही तुम्हारे सामने से कनानियों, हित्तियों, हिव्वियों, परिज्ज़ियों, गिर्गाशियों, अमोरियों तथा यबूसियों को भगा देंगे.
And Joshua said, Hereby, shall ye know, that a Living GOD is in your midst, —and that he will, certainly dispossess, from before you, the Canaanite and the Hittite, and the Hivite and the Perizzite, and the Girgashite, and the Amorite, and the Jebusite.
11 ध्यान रखना, कि प्रभु की वाचा का संदूक तुम्हारे आगे यरदन में पहुंच रहा है.
Lo! the ark of the covenant of the Lord of all the earth, is about to pass before you into the Jordan.
12 तब इस्राएल के हर एक गोत्र से बारह व्यक्ति अलग करो जो हर गोत्र से एक-एक पुरुष हो.
Now, therefore, take you twelve men, out of the tribes of Israel, —one man severally for each tribe;
13 जैसे ही याहवेह की वाचा का संदूक उठानेवाले पुरोहितों के पांव यरदन में पड़ेंगे, यरदन का जल बहना रुक जाएगा तथा एक जगह इकट्ठा हो जाएगा.”
and it shall be, when the soles of the feet of the priests who are bearing the ark of Yahweh, Lord of all the earth, do rest, in the waters of the Jordan, the waters of the Jordan, shall be cut off, the waters that are coming down from above, —and shall stand in one mound.
14 यह फसल काटने का समय था. इस समय यरदन नदी में बाढ़ की स्थिति हुआ करती है. जब इस्राएल वंशज यरदन पार करने के लिए निकले, तब पुरोहित वाचा का संदूक लेकर लोगों के आगे जा रहे थे. पुरोहितों के पांव जैसे ही जल में पड़े,
And it came to pass, when the people set out from their tents, to cross the Jordan, —with the priests, bearing the ark of the covenant before the people,
then, as the bearers of the ark came as far as the Jordan, and, the feet of the priests who were bearing the ark, were dipped in the edge of the waters, —the Jordan being full over all his banks, all the days of harvest,
16 ऊपर से आ रहा जल बहना रुक गया, और दीवार सा ऊंचा उठ गया. यह आदम नामक नगर था, जो ज़ारेथान के पास है. इससे अराबाह सागर, जो लवण-सागर की ओर जाता है, वहां का जल पूरा सूख गया. और इस्राएली येरीख़ो की ओर पार हो गए.
that the waters which were coming down from above, stood—rose up in one mound, a great way off, by the city Adam, which is beside Zarethan, and, they which were going down to the sea of the waste plain, the salt sea, failed—were cut off, —and, the people, passed over, right against Jericho.
17 याहवेह की वाचा का संदूक लेकर पुरोहित यरदन नदी के बीच में सूखी भूमि पर तब तक खड़े रहे जब तक सब इस्राएलियों ने यरदन नदी को पार न किया.
And the priests who were bearing the ark of the covenant of Yahweh, stood on dry ground, in the midst of the Jordan, with firm footing, —while all Israel were passing over on dry ground, until all the nation had made an end of passing over the Jordan.
