अय्यूब 5

1 “इसी समय पुकारकर देख. है कोई जो इसे सुनेगा? तुम किस सज्जन व्यक्ति से सहायता की आशा करोगे?

But call, if any one will listen to you, or if you shall see any of the holy angels.

2 क्रोध ही मूर्ख व्यक्ति के विनाश का कारण हो जाता है, तथा जलन भोले के लिए घातक होती है.

For wrath destroys the foolish one, and envy slays him that has gone astray.

3 मैंने मूर्ख को जड़ पकडे देखा है, किंतु तत्काल ही मैंने उसके घर को शाप दे दिया.

And I have seen foolish ones taking root: but suddenly their habitation was devoured.

4 उसकी संतान सुरक्षित नहीं है, नगर चौक में वे कष्ट के लक्ष्य बने हुए हैं, कोई भी वहां नहीं, जो उनको छुड़वाएगा,

Let their children be far from safety, and let them be crushed at the doors of vile men, and let there be no deliverer.

5 उसकी कटी हुई उपज भूखे लोग खा जाते हैं, कंटीले क्षेत्र की उपज भी वे नहीं छोड़ते. लोभी उसकी संपत्ति हड़पने के लिए प्यासे हैं.

For what they have collected, the just shall eat; but they shall not be delivered out of calamities: let their strength be utterly exhausted.

6 कष्ट का उत्पन्‍न धूल से नहीं होता और न विपत्ति भूमि से उपजती है.

For labor can’t by any means come out of the earth, nor shall trouble spring out of the mountains:

7 जिस प्रकार चिंगारियां ऊपर दिशा में ही बढ़ती हैं उसी प्रकार मनुष्य का जन्म होता ही है यातनाओं के लिए.

yet man is born to labor, and [even so] the vulture's young seek the high places.

8 “हां, मैं तो परमेश्वर की खोज करूंगा; मैं अपना पक्ष परमेश्वर के सामने प्रस्तुत करूंगा.

Nevertheless I will beseech the Lord, and will call upon the Lord, the sovereign of all;

9 वही विलक्षण एवं अगम्य कार्य करते हैं, असंख्य हैं आपके चमत्कार.

who does great things and untraceable, glorious things also, and marvelous, of which there is no number:

10 वही पृथ्वी पर वृष्टि बरसाते तथा खेतों को पानी पहुंचाते हैं.

who gives rain upon the earth, sending water on the earth:

11 तब वह विनम्रों को ऊंचे स्थान पर बैठाते हैं, जो विलाप कर रहे हैं, उन्हें सुरक्षा प्रदान करते हैं.

who exalts the lowly, and raises up them that are lost:

12 वह चालाक के षड़्‍यंत्र को विफल कर देते हैं, परिणामस्वरूप उनके कार्य सफल हो ही नहीं पाते.

frustrating the counsels of the crafty, and their hands shall not perform the truth:

13 वह बुद्धिमानों को उन्हीं की युक्ति में उलझा देते हैं तथा धूर्त का परामर्श तत्काल विफल हो जाता है.

who takes the wise in their wisdom, and subverts the counsel of the crafty

14 दिन में ही वे अंधकार में जा पड़ते हैं तथा मध्याह्न पर उन्हें रात्रि के समान टटोलना पड़ता है.

In the day darkness shall come upon them, and let them grope in the noon-day even as in the night:

15 किंतु प्रतिरक्षा के लिए परमेश्वर का वचन है उनके मुख की तलवार; वह बलवानों की शक्ति से दीन की रक्षा करते हैं.

and let them perish in war, and let the weak escape from the hand of the mighty.

16 तब निस्सहाय के लिए आशा है, अनिवार्य है कि बुरे लोग चुप रहें.

And let the weak have hope, but the mouth of the unjust be stopped.

17 “ध्यान दो, कैसा प्रसन्‍न है वह व्यक्ति जिसको परमेश्वर ताड़ना देते हैं; तब सर्वशक्तिमान के द्वारा की जा रही ताड़ना से घृणा न करना.

But blessed [is] the man whom the Lord has reproved; and reject not you the chastening of the Almighty.

18 चोट पहुंचाना और मरहम पट्टी करना, दोनों ही उनके द्वारा होते हैं; वही घाव लगाते और स्वास्थ्य भी वही प्रदान करते हैं.

for he causes [a man] to be in pain, and restores [him] again: he smites, and his hands heal.

19 वह छः कष्टों से तुम्हारा निकास करेंगे, सात में भी अनिष्ट तुम्हारा स्पर्श नहीं कर सकेगा.

Six time he shall deliver you out of distresses: and in the seventh harm shall not touch you.

20 अकाल की स्थिति में परमेश्वर तुम्हें मृत्यु से बचाएंगे, वैसे ही युद्ध में तलवार के प्रहार से.

In famine he shall deliver you from death: and in war he shall free you from the power of the sword.

21 तुम चाबुक समान जीभ से सुरक्षित रहोगे, तथा तुम्हें हिंसा भयभीत न कर सकेगी.

He shall hide you from the scourge of the tongue: and you shall not be afraid of coming evils.

22 हिंसा तथा अकाल तुम्हारे लिए उपहास के विषय होंगे, तुम्हें हिंसक पशुओं का भय न होगा.

You shall laugh at the unrighteous and the lawless: and you shall not be afraid of wild beasts.

23 तुम खेत के पत्थरों के साथ रहोगे तथा वन-पशुओं से तुम्हारी मैत्री हो जाएगी.

For the wild beasts of the field shall be at peace with you.

24 तुम्हें यह तो मालूम हो जाएगा कि तुम्हारा डेरा सुरक्षित है; तुम अपने घर में जाओगे और तुम्हें किसी भी हानि का भय न होगा.

Then shall you know that your house shall be at peace, and the provision for your tabernacle shall not fail.

25 तुम्हें यह भी बोध हो जाएगा कि तुम्हारे वंशजों की संख्या बड़ी होगी, तुम्हारी सन्तति भूमि की घास समान होगी.

And you shall know that your seed [shall be] abundant; and your children shall be like the herbage of the field.

26 मृत्यु की बेला में भी तुम्हारे शौर्य का ह्रास न हुआ होगा, जिस प्रकार परिपक्व अन्‍न एकत्र किया जाता है.

And you shall come to the grave like ripe corn reaped in its season, or as a heap of the corn-flour collected in proper time.

27 “इस पर ध्यान दो: हमने इसे परख लिया है यह ऐसा ही है. इसे सुनो तथा स्वयं इसे पहचान लो.”

Behold, we have thus sought out these matters; these are what we have heard: but do you reflect with yourself, if you have done anything [wrong].
