अय्यूब 40

1 तब याहवेह ने अय्योब से पूछा:

And the Lord God answered Job, and said,

2 “क्या अब सर्वशक्तिमान का विरोधी अपनी पराजय स्वीकार करने के लिए तत्पर है अब वह उत्तर दे? जो परमेश्वर पर दोषारोपण करता है!”

Will [any one] pervert judgement with the Mighty One? and he that reproves God, let him return it for answer.

3 तब अय्योब ने याहवेह को यह उत्तर दिया:

And Job answered and said to the Lord,

4 “देखिए, मैं नगण्य बेकार व्यक्ति, मैं कौन होता हूं, जो आपको उत्तर दूं? मैं अपने मुख पर अपना हाथ रख लेता हूं.

Why do I yet plead? being rebuked even while reproving the Lord: hearing such things, whereas I am nothing: and what shall I answer to these [arguments]? I will lay my hand upon my mouth.

5 एक बार मैं धृष्टता कर चुका हूं अब नहीं, संभवतः दो बार, किंतु अब मैं कुछ न कहूंगा.”

I have spoken once; but I will not do so a second time.

6 तब स्वयं याहवेह ने तूफान में से अय्योब को उत्तर दिया:

And the Lord yet again answered and spoke to Job out of the cloud, [saying],

7 “एक योद्धा के समान कटिबद्ध हो जाओ; अब प्रश्न पूछने की बारी मेरी है तथा सूचना देने की तुम्हारी.

Nay, gird up now your loins like a man; and I will ask you, and do you answer me.

8 “क्या तुम वास्तव में मेरे निर्णय को बदल दोगे? क्या तुम स्वयं को निर्दोष प्रमाणित करने के लिए मुझे दोषी प्रमाणित करोगे?

Do not set aside my judgement: and do you think that I have dealt with you in any other way, than that you might appear to be righteous?

9 क्या, तुम्हारी भुजा परमेश्वर की भुजा समान है? क्या, तू परमेश्वर जैसी गर्जना कर सकेगा?

Hast you an arm like the Lord's? or do you thunder with a voice like his?

10 तो फिर नाम एवं सम्मान धारण कर लो, स्वयं को वैभव एवं ऐश्वर्य में लपेट लो.

Assume now a lofty bearing and power; and clothe yourself with glory and honour.

11 अपने बढ़ते क्रोध को निर्बाध बह जाने दो, जिस किसी अहंकारी से तुम्हारा सामना हो, उसे झुकाते जाओ.

And send forth messengers with wrath; and lay low every haughty one.

12 हर एक अहंकारी को विनीत बना दो, हर एक खड़े हुए दुराचारी को पांवों से कुचल दो.

Bring down also the proud man; and consume at once the ungodly.

13 तब उन सभी को भूमि में मिला दो; किसी गुप्‍त स्थान में उन्हें बांध दो.

And hide them together in the earth; and fill their faces with shame.

14 तब मैं सर्वप्रथम तुम्हारी क्षमता को स्वीकार करूंगा, कि तुम्हारा दायां हाथ तुम्हारी रक्षा के लिए पर्याप्‍त है.

[Then] will I confess that your right hand can save [you].

15 “अब इस सत्य पर विचार करो जैसे मैंने तुम्हें सृजा है, वैसे ही उस विशाल जंतु बहेमोथ को भी जो बैल समान घास चरता है.

But now look at the wild beasts with you; they eat grass like oxen.

16 उसके शारीरिक बल पर विचार करो, उसकी मांसपेशियों की क्षमता पर विचार करो!

Behold now, his strength is in his loins, and his force is in the navel of his belly.

17 उसकी पूंछ देवदार वृक्ष के समान कठोर होती है; उसकी जांघ का स्‍नायु-तंत्र कैसा बुना गया हैं.

He sets up his tail like a cypress; and his nerves are wrapped together.

18 उसकी हड्डियां कांस्य की नलियां समान है, उसके अंग लोहे के छड़ के समान मजबूत हैं.

His sides are sides of brass; and his backbone is [as] cast iron.

19 वह परमेश्वर की एक उत्कृष्ट रचना है, किंतु उसका रचयिता उसे तलवार से नियंत्रित कर लेता है.

This is the chief of the creation of the Lord; made to be played with by his angels.

20 पर्वत उसके लिए आहार लेकर आते हैं, इधर-उधर वन्य पशु फिरते रहते हैं.

And when he has gone up to a steep mountain, he causes joy to the quadrupeds in the deep.

21 वह कमल के पौधे के नीचे लेट जाता है, जो कीचड़ तथा सरकंडों के मध्य में है.

He lies under trees of every kind, by the papyrus, and reed, and bulrush.

22 पौधे उसे छाया प्रदान करते हैं; तथा नदियों के मजनूं वृक्ष उसके आस-पास उसे घेरे रहते हैं.

And the great trees make a shadow over him with their branches, and [so do] the bushes of the field.

23 यदि नदी में बाढ़ आ जाए, तो उसकी कोई हानि नहीं होती; वह निश्चिंत बना रहता है, यद्यपि यरदन का जल उसके मुख तक ऊंचा उठ जाता है.

If there should be a flood, he will not perceive it; he trust that Jordan will rush up into his mouth.

24 जब वह सावधान सजग रहता है तब किसमें साहस है कि उसे बांध ले, क्या कोई उसकी नाक में छेद कर सकता है?

[Yet one] shall take him in his sight; [one] shall catch [him] with a cord, and pierce his nose.
